Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1291: Chapter 687: One Ending, Another Beginning_2

It was unexpected for ”Song of Wandering” to take the Best Film Award, mainly because the film was too artistic and niche, and many people weren’t aware of it.

Perhaps the Qingmu Award judges wanted to use the award to help more people discover this movie.

The Qingmu Award ceremony concluded.

Zhou Yun and Song Chi went together to attend the following party.

They planned to make a brief appearance and then leave.

Song Chi still needed to return to the ”Jiangyun Platform” production crew the next day, while Zhou Yun had a flight to Australia in the evening, also to shoot a movie.

Before she returned, however, Zhou Yun had one more thing to do: she arranged to meet the author Li Rui of ”Above the Dust” to have a chat.

She couldn’t go home too late today.

Zhou Lan and Zheng Xiaojue were also attending the party.

After everyone gathered, they set off together for the hotel where the party was held.

In the car, Zheng Xiaojue talked to Zhou Yun about the fans’ comments online.

”You didn’t win an award, and many of your fans are quite upset. Many are saying your performance was the best among the nominees.”

Zhou Yun shook her head directly and said, ”Cheng Benqin deserved the award. I watched ’Song of Wandering.’ Her acting was excellent; the character was rich, and she portrayed that richness and complexity superbly. I have nothing to say.”

Zheng Xiaojue said, ”But many fans are saying online that the Qingmu Award deliberately didn’t give you the award just because you won last year.”

Zhou Yun frowned upon hearing this.

”Please have the online promotion team guide the public opinion, preventing such content from continuing to ferment; it’s inappropriate,” Zhou Yun said.

”Alright, I’ll make a call,” Zheng Xiaojue said and went ahead to make the call.

However, because of the award ceremony tonight, the online promo group was already working overtime, so it wasn’t a surprise call late at night.

Zhou Yun truly admired Cheng Benqin.

Cheng Benqin is an excellent actress, and upon getting the opportunity for ”Song of Wandering,” she skyrocketed.

In the acting industry, many, like Cheng Benqin and You Jiang, are just missing one opportunity. They hone their skills in small roles, waiting for that role to shine.

Zhou Yun didn’t want her fans to affect the honor that rightly belonged to Cheng Benqin.

Besides, she’s already received plenty of favor; if she were to complain about bad luck or judges not awarding her, she’d indeed be too greedy.

Her luck in winning awards couldn’t be better.

At the party venue, Zhou Yun wanted immediately to meet Cheng Benqin.

She was concerned Cheng Benqin had seen those negative online voices, and she hoped her attitude could show Cheng Benqin her genuine respect and admiration.

But Cheng Benqin hadn’t arrived at the venue yet.

Instead, Yao Yuanfeng approached laughing and said, ”Xiao Yun won’t be crying tonight, right?”

Zhou Yun was exasperated and asked, ”President Yao, wouldn’t coax your own daughter like this, would you?”

So childish.

Yao Yuanfeng wasn’t offended at all; he laughed heartily.

He said, ”Seems there’s no need for comfort.”

Zhou Yun: ”President Yao, shouldn’t you take care of Wen Bing? He didn’t win either tonight.”

Yao Yuanfeng said, ”I’ve already called him; he wasn’t even paying attention to tonight’s award results.”

”Are you disappointed, President Yao, for not winning?” Zhou Yun asked.

Yao Yuanfeng said, ”Sure, but disappointment is a common state in our industry; there aren’t that many successes.”

Zhou Yun was taken aback, thinking why Yao Yuanfeng suddenly brought up such a philosophical topic?

Yao Yuanfeng then shifted his tone, saying, ”Xiao Yun, although you definitely deserve the bonus, we also gave you a bonus for the movie ’Female Assassin,’ but ’Two tigers’ is created around Liang Yuanpu. We can’t simultaneously give both you and him bonuses; that would increase the film’s risk and fail to pass the investors’ review.”

So, Yao Yuanfeng’s point was here.

He was discussing the fee for the second part of ”Two tigers.”

Zhou Yun hesitated for a moment, just about to speak.

Zhou Lan suddenly emerged from somewhere right on time.

”President Yao, you can’t play the emotional card with my actor when I’m not around,” Zhou Lan said with a smile, ”For ’Two tigers’ part one, Xiao Yun only made a cameo; whatever fee you offered, we didn’t haggle a bit, but for the second part, Xiao Yun can’t be just a cameo, right? If New Shield wants Xiao Yun as the lead actress, then the lead actress should receive the due treatment, not compromising her deserved benefits for the male lead.”
