Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1292: Chapter 687: An Ending, and a New Beginning (Part 3)

Seeing Zhou Lan, Yao Yuanfeng’s face turned green.

During this time, Yao Yuanfeng and Zhou Lan had met several times, and each meeting ended in disagreement.

If it weren’t for Zhou Lan being unyielding, Yao Yuanfeng wouldn’t have repeatedly faced obstacles and felt the need to play the emotional card with Zhou Yun today.

Yao Yuanfeng said, ”But—”

”President Yao, I can understand that it is tough for a movie to give two actors 5% of the box office bonus at the same time, which is indeed a great pressure for you, but I’ve mentioned that you can’t deny Xiao Yun the international box office bonus for this movie, can you? When selling films overseas, do you rely on Liang Yuanpu?” Zhou Lan said, ”Hasn’t ’Two Tigers’ sold pretty well overseas?”

Yao Yuanfeng took a deep breath.

He eventually smiled instead of losing his temper on the spot.

”Let’s discuss this later. Xiao Yun, are things going well with ’Female Assassin’?” He asked, ”I heard you had a bit of a conflict with Zeng Yeng on set?”

”It’s fine, not a big conflict, just a difference in style. We’ve coordinated it well now,” Zhou Yun said, ”Filming abroad has its inconveniences. She’s managing such a large setup alone and has to finish the shoot successfully, so she’s under a lot of pressure. I can understand her.”

”I always say, whoever gets to work with an actor like you is fortunate,” Yao Yuanfeng praised.

Zhou Yun said, ”Whoever gets to work with a boss like President Yao is also fortunate. Although we have differences in the pay for ’Two Tigers Part 2,’ I can still say that no matter what, our cooperation on other films has been pleasant.”

Yao Yuanfeng said, ”Of course, in any project, there are always various conflicts. Actively solving conflicts will eventually lead to agreement.”

”I believe in President Yao,” Zhou Yun said.

At this moment, Song Chi came over.

”President Yao,” he greeted, while taking Zhou Yun’s hand.

”Wow, the two of you standing together look so pleasing, a handsome man and a beautiful woman,” Yao Yuanfeng complimented, ”You two are definitely the most attention-grabbing.”

Song Chi asked, ”Didn’t President Yao bring Mrs. Yao along today?”

”Her? She’s shopping with friends in Paris now,” Yao Yuanfeng laughed, ”Not everyone is as lucky as you to have a girlfriend like Xiao Yun.”

Song Chi: ”Mrs. Yao’s love for President Yao is absolutely not less than Xiao Yun’s love for me.”

While chatting, there was a stir at the entrance.

It turned out that You Jiang and Cheng Benqin came together.

Many people were taking pictures of them.

Zhou Yun and the others also turned to look.

Yao Yuanfeng said, ”This year’s Qingmu Award is completely about honoring veterans.”

”Does President Yao have a suitable project for them to star in?” Song Chi asked.

Yao Yuanfeng said, ”No suitable projects at the moment, but I believe some companies will.”

Although New Shield started dabbling in art films and award-chasing films in the past two years, the quantity isn’t much.

Take Wen Bing for example, New Shield merely aims to transition from making purely commercial films but isn’t focused on creating entirely artistic films. When they invest in and produce non-mainstream blockbusters like ’Two Tigers,’ there is a very important and core objective, which is to make money. However, they are willing to provide the directors they favor more space, allowing them to infuse their personal style into the movie, making it stylistic rather than being the typical popcorn-style, style-less film.

A film like ’Song of Wandering’ is practically impossible for New Shield to produce.

And a film like ’Behind the Scenes,’ New Shield might not give it the green light so easily, unless, of course, Zhou Yun is the lead actor again, then it would be a different matter.

You Jiang and Cheng Benqin winning awards, although they’ve become Movie King and Movie Queen, Yao Yuanfeng would never create films like ’Behind the Scenes’ or ’Song of Wandering’ for them.

However, New Shield’s blockbusters wouldn’t cast them as leads.

The leads would still need to be box office stars.

The most likely way for New Shield to collaborate with them is to find significant supporting roles for them in upcoming projects.

Like Yong Mei in ’Antique Inception.’

Zhou Yun asked, ”Won’t President Yao go greet them?”

Yao Yuanfeng smiled and said, ”There are too many people seeking them now, I’ll go later.”
