Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1290: Chapter 687: One Ending, Another Beginning

Upon hearing Zhou Yun’s surprised ”ah,” You Jiang truly thought he had no chance this time.

What he didn’t expect was that Zhou Yun’s surprised ”ah” was actually for him.

You Jiang has been in the acting profession for several decades.

He is an actor who can truly act, as everyone says.

However, he has had nearly no leading roles; since his debut, he has primarily played supporting roles.

If it wasn’t for ”Falling Leaves,” he would never have gotten the chance to play the lead in ”Behind the Scenes.”

Because of this film, You Jiang’s acting career took a turn, transitioning from a well-known supporting actor within the industry to a recognized figure by the public.

And also because of this film, he seized the opportunity of its Oscar campaign in the United States, went to the United States, and began to open his path to internationalization. There’s even something he hasn’t officially announced yet: he has reached an agreement with Zhou Yun’s agent, Zhou Lan, whose studio will assist him with overseas engagements. This opportunity also arose thanks to ”Behind the Scenes.”

And today, because of this film, he received his first Best Actor trophy in his life, and it was a significant Qingmu Award for Best Actor trophy.

You Jiang walked onto the stage to receive the award, holding the trophy, feeling a whirlwind of emotions at this moment.

His eyes were slightly reddened.

”Thank you, thank you to the judges.”

Holding the trophy, he looked at everyone and said, ”I spent nearly thirty years to finally get here, to step onto the Qingmu Awards stage. It really wasn’t easy.”

Applause erupted from the audience.

Zhou Yun stood beside him, clapping for him as well.

You Jiang said, ”This film was made unexpectedly, and I became the lead actor unexpectedly. Thank you to our producer, Shi Luoqi, for bringing me into this talented crew. Thank you to our director, Xue Qin, for using your unparalleled talent to help us create this film full of anger, passion, and defiance. Thank you, Zhou Yun, thank you, Lili, thank you, Xiao Jing, and thanks to all the actors from ’Falling Leaves.’ As everyone knows, we were actually all part of the same crew. Without your support, I couldn’t have created such a character. This is a creative experience I will cherish for a lifetime. The time spent creating with you all is something I’ll always treasure deeply, thank you!”

He bowed to everyone.

The audience erupted with applause.

Zhou Yun accompanied You Jiang off the stage.

You Jiang said to Zhou Yun, ”I just thought you were celebrating Song Chi winning the award, truly unexpected.”

Zhou Yun said, ”What’s wrong? Can’t I feel surprised and delighted for you winning?”

The smile on You Jiang’s face never faded.

”Isn’t your boyfriend here too?”

Zhou Yun laughed.

”I must admit, if Song Chi had won, I would have screamed with excitement too.”

After stepping down from the stage, Zhou Yun parted ways with You Jiang.

You Jiang was going to the press room for interviews, while Zhou Yun returned to the audience, waiting for the Best Actress award results.

The presenter for Best Actress was Liang Yuanpu.

Zhou Yun sat down, and Song Chi held her hand, smiling, saying, ”Now it’s your turn to be nervous.”

Zhou Yun laughed and asked, ”Disappointed if you didn’t win?”

Song Chi shook his head, saying, ”It’s okay, I was already mentally prepared.”

Zhou Yun said, ”Looks like both of us won’t win any awards today.”

Song Chi: ”Not necessarily, you can do it.”

Just as Zhou Yun was about to speak, Liang Yuanpu had already taken the stage.

As expected by Zhou Yun herself, the Qingmu Award indeed did not bestow the Best Actress on her, but on Cheng Benqin.

This year’s Best Actor and Best Actress went to veteran actors who have been in the industry for many years.

Cheng Benqin, like You Jiang, was an actor who remained under the radar for many years until ”Song of Wandering” brought them to the forefront.

Cheng Benqin was sobbing on stage, extremely moved.

Zhou Yun listened to her talk about her persistence in acting and staying true to her mission, and her eyes were red, clapping all the while.

After Cheng Benqin stepped down, Zhou Yun and Song Chi exchanged smiles.

Today, neither of them won an award.

There was some disappointment.

However, Zhou Yun and Song Chi have both won the Qingmu Award before, so the regret wasn’t that significant.

The final two major awards, Best Director and Best Film, were bestowed upon Song Shuheng for ”Dusk” and ”Song of Wandering,” respectively.
