Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1287: Chapter 686: Best Actor

Zhou Yun knows his worth now, and he understands that if he acts in one of Song Chi’s company’s films, it would be a lucrative thing for Song Chi’s company. That’s why he took the initiative to offer his help to Song Chi.

However, Song Chi also realizes this and doesn’t want to exhaust Zhou Yun.

When the time comes to collaborate, Song Chi hopes there will be a project and team entirely worthy of Zhou Yun.

If Zhou Yun were not his girlfriend, he wouldn’t consider these things. But because Zhou Yun is his girlfriend, he must consider them.

This isn’t about saving face; these are lessons he’s deeply understood from being in the industry for so long.

The better the relationship, the clearer the boundaries need to be regarding interests, without mixing them up or letting them blur.

Song Chi’s company is developing smoothly; it’s just that poorly timed project startups led to some financial pressure.

At the Qingmu Award ceremony, Song Chi is very busy.

He has too many people to greet.

In the end, Zhou Yun and Song Chi decided to act separately.

Primarily because Zhou Yun also has many people he needs to greet, and his crowd doesn’t completely overlap with Song Chi’s.

Moreover, appearing together strongly symbolizes being a couple, which is not the impression they want to give.

Why do many artists wait until a very fixed time to announce relationships?

Of course, there are various reasons behind this—avoiding fan heartbreak, avoiding ”a star’s downfall upon exposure,” etc. But for Zhou Yun and Song Chi, the main consideration is not wanting their biggest tag to be ”Zhou Yun/Song Chi’s boyfriend/girlfriend.”

An actor’s fear is having a fixed label, especially one associated with their personal life.

This isn’t just a privacy issue; as actors, it leads to a decreased sense of audience engagement.

If Zhou Yun and Song Chi’s couple label becomes too prominent, would the audience still believe and engage when they perform romantic roles with others?

Actors paired together once consciously avoid teaming up again in a short timeframe, to prevent forming a fixed impression in the audience’s mind, let alone as a couple.

Of course, today, almost everyone Zhou Yun meets is discussing the gossip of Xu Siyao and Yuh Huaijiang, regardless of who they are.

Xu Siyao isn’t present at the Qingmu Award ceremony today, but Yuh Huaijiang is.

Yuh Huaijiang is also a renowned figure in the industry alongside Yao Yuanfeng.

Unlike Yao Yuanfeng, Yuh Huaijiang is well-known for his love of independent films and supporting independent filmmakers.

Making independent films in China is challenging, especially low-budget ones. However, in the independent film community, creators know one thing: if you’re highly talented and confident in yourself, you can approach Boss Yuh. As long as your script impresses him, he’ll invest and work to bring your film to life.

Hence, despite Yao Yuanfeng’s company being bigger and having higher box office returns, in the industry, people respect Yuh Huaijiang more.

Because Yuh Huaijiang is doing things many others can’t achieve.

Moreover, Yuh Huaijiang is undertaking something very meaningful for the industry.

When Zhou Yun saw Yuh Huaijiang, he was surrounded by several other actors, standing together and fervently discussing something.

Yuh Huaijiang’s gaze met Zhou Yun’s.

Zhou Yun smiled and nodded at him from across the crowd.

Yuh Huaijiang said something to the people beside him, and then walked over.

He wore a suit, exuding a refined elegance.

”Xiao Yun, it’s been a while.”

Zhou Yun had met Yuh Huaijiang in other occasions before.

Zhou Yun smiled and said, ”Boss Yuh, why do you look so handsome today?”

Actually, Yuh Huaijiang is already a middle-aged man, but he takes great care of himself and maintains his appearance well, looking like he’s just over thirty. Without a smile, it’s hard to notice much of a difference.

Yuh Huaijiang nodded at Zhou Yun and said, ”I didn’t get all dressed up and come out today for nothing.”

Many people don’t know that Yuh Huaijiang is from Shanghai and carries the typical refinement of Shanghai gentlemen. He manages every aspect of himself elegantly and sincerely loves art, especially the art of film. Over the years, he’s discovered and nurtured more than a dozen directors, who are still active in the industry today.
