Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1259: Chapter 676: Putting on a Show (Part 3)

Yao Yuanfeng smiled, ”So that’s the purpose of your call?”

Zeng Yeng laughed and said, ”I know I can’t hide anything from President Yao, but President Yao, don’t worry. I’ve been working at New Shield for so many years, I know the red lines and the bottom lines, I’m aware, I’m an employee of New Shield, and for my salary, I will be responsible for you.”

”Alright, then according to what you said, I grant you this authorization, but since I’ve given it to you, make sure to use it well.”

”Rest assured, President Yao.” Zeng Yeng, granted the authorization, was elated, ”Absolutely will get it done.”

Hung up the phone.

Zeng Yeng returned to the set, seeing Wen Bing already discussing work with someone.

She walked over in front of the crowd, her expression indifferent, as if she hadn’t taken the earlier argument to heart at all.

She said, ”Director Wen, could we talk privately for a moment?”

Wen Bing glanced at her and nodded, instructing the others to get back to work.

”Any further instructions?” he asked.

Zeng Yeng candidly said, ”I just called President Yao. Although your attitude toward me was very harsh, I think what you said wasn’t entirely without reason. So, as the producer, even though I’m still annoyed with you, I managed to secure script modification rights for you. Director Wen, I know we have a lot of differences in work methods and styles, you’re an artist, and I’m just doing management work, so naturally there is conflict. But we’re partners, and I hope in the future, regardless of the issue, you can calmly communicate with me, okay?”

Wen Bing was silent for a moment and then smiled slightly.

”Alright.”

He glanced at Zeng Yeng.

In that glance, it seemed he saw through Zeng Yeng’s thoughts, yet simultaneously saw nothing.

Zeng Yeng felt a bit uncomfortable being seen through for a moment, but since Wen Bing said nothing, she also remained silent.

The matter was temporarily resolved.

At this moment, Zhou Yun also returned.

She came before Wen Bing and said, ”Director, I’m ready.”

Wen Bing nodded and instructed the assistant director to call Zou Kai.

Zou Kai returned with Jiang Jinghan.

Zou Kai handed a cup of iced Americano to Wen Bing with a bright smile.

”Director, ready to shoot?”

Wen Bing nodded.

He said, ”How about we run through the scene again?”

Zhou Yun said, ”Director, let’s jump straight in.”

”Straight in?” Wen Bing was taken aback.

He looked at Zou Kai, ”Is that okay?”

Zou Kai put away his radiant smile and said, ”No problem, let’s do it.”

So, the set was cleared, the site was muted.

All departments were ready.

Wen Bing called out to start filming.

Zhou Yun opened the door and stepped inside.

As she entered, she immediately scanned the room’s situation.

Zou Kai followed closely behind her.

”This is my own safehouse. Apart from me, no one else knew before, now you know.” Zou Kai said.

Zhou Yun didn’t respond, walked to the window, checked outside, confirmed safety, and closed the blinds.

The light immediately dimmed considerably.

She stood beside the window, looking back at Zou Kai, expressionless.

”How did you show up just now?”

”I heard about your bounty order, I guessed you needed help.” Zou Kai shrugged, sporting a look as if he just casually lent a hand, then walked to the kitchen counter, opened the cupboard above, and took out a huge canvas bag.

He placed the canvas bag on the counter, lifted his eyes, looked at Zhou Yun, smiled, and said, ”Come and see, are these old guys still familiar?”

Zhou Yun still maintained a guarded stance, slowly walked over.

But as her gaze fell upon the gear inside the canvas bag, her eyes, usually indifferent, softened just a touch.

Because these were all the equipment she used before.

”How do you have these?”

Zou Kai said, ”Since we parted, I’ve kept these.”

”Why didn’t you dispose of them?”

”I always felt they’d be useful again someday, that one day, we’d reunite.”

Zou Kai circled the counter, walked directly to Zhou Yun.

His gaze never left Zhou Yun, observing every little change on her face.

Zhou Yun appeared expressionless, but upon closer inspection, you could see that her eyes were slightly trembling, as if invaded.

”Now it seems my intuition wasn’t wrong.”

Suddenly Zou Kai stepped forward, his hands hovering beside Zhou Yun’s waist, less than a finger’s width away.

A certain emotion suddenly surged.

Zhou Yun quietly stared at him, her eyes exhibiting a surge as if coming from the deep sea.
