Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1278: Chapter 683: Tenderness

Wu Zhengguang is the screenwriter of ”Deep Sea”.

Zhou Yun met Wu Zhengguang while filming in the ”Deep Sea” crew.

He is a person with a very irritable temper, but he is also rarely authentic.

Zhou Yun likes Wu Zhengguang’s authenticity. He says what he thinks, and he’s not the type to shoot off recklessly.

Zhou Yun asked, ”Teacher Wu, don’t you think we earn too much while you screenwriters earn too little?”

Wu Zhengguang shook his head, ”I don’t think so. My screenwriting fee has always been high.”

He then continued, ”However, many young screenwriters are in a terrible situation. It’s not that the producers don’t pay, it’s just that our industry is quite chaotic, with no order. Layers of outsourcing mean screenwriters without fame are basically being exploited. On one hand, it’s a payment issue; on the other, it’s a lack of voice. They don’t get respect. Many people only know there are many restrictions from above preventing screenwriters from writing. Besides this, there are actually many other troubles. Basically, producers, investors, directors, and actors, everyone can point fingers at the script, and the screenwriter’s opinion doesn’t matter.”

Zhou Yun said, ”But actually in the crews I’m in, this kind of situation doesn’t seem to happen. Everyone still respects the screenwriters and scripts. Even if we need to modify scripts, the screenwriter is always invited to meetings to discuss every modification.”

”That’s because you have great respect for the script. You took this role because of the script, so everyone has to go through you to modify it. Otherwise, it can’t be shot. Just for this reason, 99% of those who want to change the script will give up.” Wu Zhengguang said, ”Right now, this is the trend in our industry. The scripts of the shows you act in remain unchanged, not because the industry gave screenwriters and scripts a voice, but because you, who have a voice, stand on the side of defending the script.”

Wu Zhengguang’s words revealed this reality.

Zhou Yun also knew this is a current issue that cannot be resolved; it can only rely on individuals with a voice to fight against this environment.

”But it’s actually rare for someone like Xiao Yun to do so,” Yuk Chu said. ”In the past two years, I’ve filmed a lot of shows, and most of them are like Teacher Wu said. Every actor wants to add scenes for themselves, and the platform will require the crew to add some content and elements they want. Many times, the script I see before joining the crew looks one way, and by the time we’re filming, it has changed so much. I actually hope to meet someone like Xiao Yun, who can use their power to ensure that the quality of the show is as unaffected by external factors as possible.”

Zhou Yun said, ”I understand what Teacher Wu means. Actually, the ideal state is to fundamentally raise the status of screenwriters and scripts, not relying on one or two people to change this phenomenon.”

”But that’s very difficult.” Wu Zhengguang shrugged, saying, ”I know, many screenwriters know, we’ve all been advocating and striving for many years. However, the environment is not something we can easily change.”

Zhou Yun said, ”But no matter what, we still have to strive for it, right?”

”Of course.”

”I believe that as more people become aware of its importance, the status of scripts and screenwriters will definitely improve,” Zhou Yun said. ”The better the directors and actors, the more they understand the importance of the script.”

Wu Zhengguang: ”I’m pessimistic about this.”

”Don’t be pessimistic, Teacher Wu. We are such actors,” Gu Huaichun wrapped his arm around Wu Zhengguang’s neck from behind, saying, ”We absolutely respect you.”

Wu Zhengguang was visibly taken aback, seemingly unused to someone holding his neck so intimately, appearing very uncomfortable.

Gu Huaichun said, ”Although I’m not as great as Xiao Yun, nor as skilled in acting, I still want to be a good actor. I never change the script myself, nor do I allow others to change the script for strange reasons.”

Wu Zhengguang gave a soft ”Oh.”

”Let go of your hand first.”

Gu Huaichun then released Wu Zhengguang.

Wu Zhengguang said, a bit helplessly, ”I didn’t mean to blame you all for changing the script. Could you each stop declaring to me?”

Zhou Yun laughed, ”We’re not declaring to you. We just hope you won’t be so pessimistic. You have to believe in us. You’re not fighting alone.”
