Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 647: Chapter 475: Sharing a Smile

Yuk Chu sent a message to Zhou Yun: Xiao Yun, I don’t know if you need comforting, but knowing your personality, you probably don’t need my comfort. But I still want to tell you, you performed exceptionally well in ”Heart Inquiry”. I really liked it, not just because you’re my friend. As an actor, I’m secretly learning from you.

Zhou Yun sent a heart emoji back to her.

Tonight was really an unpleasant night.

On the way back, she didn’t say much to Song Chi. It wasn’t necessary to say too much at such a time.

Although they knew in their hearts how good ”Heart Inquiry” was, not being recognized by the Huayu Award was ultimately somewhat disappointing and disheartening.

The internet had exploded, with almost everyone cursing this year’s Huayu Award. Considering the fact that Su Yan did not get nominated for Best Actress in the beginning, many were speculating whether ”Heart Inquiry” had offended the Huayu Award.

Did ”Heart Inquiry” offend the Huayu Award?

Zhou Yun didn’t know, nor did Song Chi.

They didn’t accept any interviews and directly went home from the awards ceremony.

In the ”Heart Inquiry” group chat, everyone was talking, encouraging and comforting each other.

Zhou Yun didn’t say anything.

Neither Kang Xin nor Song Chi showed up or spoke.

To say they weren’t angry would be a lie.

It was okay for a couple of surprises, but to leave with not a single award was angering for anyone.

That night, many people called Song Chi, and also many people called Zhou Yun.

Zhou Yun actually didn’t want to answer, but she worried that if she didn’t, it might seem as if she placed too much importance on the Huayu Award.

So what if she didn’t win the award? It wasn’t like she needed it to become a better version of herself.

She answered every call, accepted everyone’s sympathy, and showed an attitude of indifference towards the award.

In reality, however, she was becoming increasingly irked.

Every time she said she was okay, actually added a little more irritation into her heart.

Why did she have to suppress her own dissatisfaction here? This thought sprang into Zhou Yun’s heart.

Eventually, she just didn’t want to answer these calls anymore.

Zhou Lan called her.

She sighed.

”Are you okay?” Zhou Lan asked.

Those simple three words hooked out Zhou Yun’s genuine vexation.

”Sister Lan, I realized I can’t be as detached as I thought I could be.”

”That’s perfectly normal, you’re not a saint. Why force yourself to be detached? Be unhappy if you’re unhappy, discontented if you’re discontented, disappointed if you’re disappointed. Negative emotions will always remain negative if they’re suppressed deep down in your heart. Just let them out.” Zhou Lan said, ”I received many interview requests from the media on your behalf. Of course, I know you don’t want to do interviews right now, and I’ve declined them all for you. I just wanted to ask how you’re doing.”

Zhou Yun: ”To be honest, Sister Lan, if you’re asking for my truest thoughts right now, I’m very dissatisfied. I feel like ’Heart Inquiry’ has been targeted.”

Zhou Lan: ”I feel the same way.”

Zhou Yun said: ”I don’t understand why those dramas could win awards while ’Heart Inquiry’ couldn’t. It’s not very important to me personally whether or not I win, I just feel it’s a pity. But Song Chi not winning an award, Director Kang Xin not getting one, that truly infuriates me.”

”Everyone feels as furious as you. You have no idea, the internet is in an uproar, all in defense of ’Heart Inquiry’.”

”But we all know, no matter how much noise is made online, it’s futile,” Zhou Yun said. ”In the end, it’s ineffective and ultimately a regret.”

”So it’s a regret, just let it be a regret. ’Heart Inquiry’ doesn’t have to rely solely on the Huayu Award to prove its worth,” Zhou Lan said. ”There are still two major awards left for the drama series, ’Heart Inquiry’ will get the glory it deserves.”

Zhou Yun: ”I really want to know why the Huayu Award ended up with such a result.”

”Now asking these questions is meaningless. We don’t have any inside information or leads. Moreover, the results are already out and nothing said can change them,” Zhou Lan said. ”I suggest you wash up and get some sleep.”

Zhou Yun hummed in acknowledgment.

Zhou Lan said: ”Okay, then I’ll leave you to rest. We’ll meet tomorrow.”

”See you tomorrow.”

After hanging up the phone, Zhou Yun returned to her room.

Song Chi was still in the study, probably still on the phone, and she didn’t go to disturb him.

As the producer of ”Heart Inquiry”, the number of people looking for him tonight was certainly more than those looking for her.

Zhou Yun washed up, got into bed, and picked up her phone to browse the internet.

Indeed, all the websites were discussing tonight’s results of the Huayu Award.

Zhou Lan wasn’t exaggerating. It had blown up.

All were cursing.

Zhou Yun silently looked for a while, didn’t want to look anymore, turned off her phone, placed it aside, plugged in the charger, put on her eye mask, and prepared to go to sleep.

At that moment, Song Chi came in.

”Ready to sleep?” Song Chi asked.

Zhou Yun hummed in acknowledgment, ”Are you done with the calls?”

”Almost.” Song Chi nodded, ”I’m going to sleep too. You sleep first, I’m going to brush my teeth.”

”Okay.”

After turning off the light, a little while later, Song Chi came to bed and hugged Zhou Yun.

Zhou Yun nestled in his embrace, gently snuggling up.

”Let’s sleep,” he said.

The whole night’s clamor had nothing to do with them anymore.

Let the world be briefly disconnected from them, returning to peaceful dreams and restoring inner calm.

The next morning, Zhou Yun opened her eyes before the alarm rang.

She saw Song Chi still sleeping and thought he probably did not fall asleep quickly after getting into bed last night.

She got out of bed quietly, left the room to wash up, and started making breakfast simply.

The dawn was just beginning to brighten, grey and overcast.

This kind of weather, this kind of dawn light, seemed tailor-made to match her mood.

Zhou Yun inwardly scolded herself for being so sentimental.

Taking out some frozen dumplings from the fridge, she boiled water and threw them in.

The boiling water burbled.

After the dumplings were cooked, Zhou Yun carried the plate and sat by the window, slowly finished eating alone.

Suddenly, rain started to fall.

Streaks of rain appeared on the transparent window.

Zhou Yun looked out at the sudden light rain, sinking into silence and daydreaming.

After an unknown amount of time, a noise suddenly interrupted her thoughts.

Song Chi had woken up and came out of the room.

Zhou Yun turned around and smiled at him.

He smiled back at her.

Without their usual makeup, their bare faces had the true colors of life, clean and pure.

Zhou Yun asked, ”Want some dumplings? Shall I cook some for you?”

Song Chi nodded, said okay.

He went to wash up.

Zhou Yun cooked dumplings for Song Chi, and when he came out, the dumplings were ready to be eaten.

Zhou Yun sat with Song Chi as he ate the dumplings, and said, ”Today, I need to go to the company.”

”Me too,” Song Chi looked at her and said, ”See you tonight?”

”See you tonight.”

The two exchanged smiles.
