Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 637: Chapter 465: Burning with Rage

Zhou Yun soon learned of the news.

Speaking of which, the news came quite unexpectedly. It was Liang Tian, the director of ”After the Scandal,” who told her.

Liang Tian, who had not been in touch for a long time, messaged her saying: ”Xiao Yun, did you recently record a show with Xu Siyao?”

When Zhou Yun saw this message, she thought Liang Tian was asking because she saw the news online.

But, Liang Tian told her: ”A friend of mine is editing ’What a Nice Weather,’ and he told me that his superiors instructed him to cut out parts that were unfavorable to Xu Siyao, oh, but they left quite a few clips of you mocking Xu Siyao. The overall edit makes it look like you are treating Xu Siyao poorly without context, making it seem like there is a problem with your character, and that you resent Xu Siyao.”

Upon seeing this message from Liang Tian, Zhou Yun was instantly furious.

She: ”Sister Tian, thank you for telling me this, it’s so timely! I’ll thank you later!”

Liang Tian: ”No need to be so polite, I simply don’t want to see a good actress like you getting slandered for no reason. My friend was indignant on your behalf, but as he depends on them for his livelihood, he doesn’t dare disobey, so he secretly told me.”

Zhou Yun: ”Sister Tian, I understand, don’t worry, I won’t reveal how I got the information. I will also thank your friend later.”

Her eyes darted, and then she lightly kicked Song Chi on his ankle.

Song Chi was working on a laptop, typing away at the keyboard, perhaps responding to emails, focused intently.

”What’s wrong?” Song Chi looked up, puzzled, and asked Zhou Yun.

Zhou Yun said: ”Your girlfriend is about to be smeared.”

Song Chi was even more bewildered, furrowing his brow, ”Huh?”

Zhou Yun didn’t say more, but handed over her chat records with Liang Tian for Song Chi to see.

After reading the chat log, Song Chi’s eyes widened suddenly.

”What is the crew of ’What a Nice Weather’ trying to do?” he asked, hardly being able to believe it.

Mainly because... even though it might not be nice to say, Zhou Yun is now one of the top actresses in the industry, not just a celebrity or an artist, and yet a production crew dared to tamper with the editing to give her a negative portrayal.

Song Chi could not understand this from a logical perspective.

Did the production team not worry about Zhou Yun getting angry?

Zhou Yun getting angry now was not the same as before.

Zhou Yun said: ”I don’t know what they’re trying to do, I’m just shocked and speechless, I didn’t even have time to get angry.”

Song Chi: ”The priority is to find out who gave them this directive.”

”No matter who issued the directive, Xu Siyao must be related to this matter,” said Zhou Yun.

Song Chi thought for a while, then said: ”Here’s what we do. You tell Zhou Lan about this matter and see how Zhou Lan plans to deal with it. Me, I’ll go talk to the platform that airs ’What a Nice Weather.’ As long as they don’t approve, no matter what the edited episode looks like, it won’t be broadcast. I’ll safeguard this for you first, as for what specific steps you want to take, that’s up to you.”

Zhou Yun immediately hugged Song Chi, trembling with emotion, ”You’re the best!”

Song Chi pressed his lips together and gave a light chuckle.

”I actually really want to see how that episode you recorded turned out,” he said.

Zhou Yun said: ”Actually, if they really want to release it edited like that, I’m not that worried.”

”Huh?” Song Chi looked at her in surprise, ”Why?”

Zhou Yun said: ”Sister Lan has instructed us, whether I’m going out for interviews or recording a show, Xiaoju and the others will follow with their phones and record the entire process.”

”Do you have enough storage on the phone?” Song Chi’s first thought was actually this.

Zhou Yun said: ”They have backup phones, Sister Lan specifically instructed, in these situations, you have to be afraid of traps, so you must record everything.”

Song Chi said: ”But usually, for your shows, all the staff have to sign a confidentiality agreement, right?”

”That’s true, but if they violate the agreement first and deliberately tarnish my image, then according to the contract I have with the production team, all the clauses would immediately become invalid,” Zhou Yun explained, ”Sister Lan has always been very cautious in this regard.”

Song Chi nodded, ”So, if they really edit your segment very negatively, you wait until the public opinion ferments, then throw out the full video, let everyone see what the truth is. Not only would you be slapping the production team’s face but also clarifying the actual situation.”

”But there are risks to doing this, to be honest, the recording this time was quite unusual,” Zhou Yun said. ”Even if the actual footage is released, I might not even get good reviews, this time... I had quite a confrontational stance, not giving Xu Siyao any face.”

Song Chi: ”So what are you suggesting?”

”Let’s do as you said, you help communicate with the broadcasting platform, and we, Sister Lan and I, will handle the rest.”

”Alright.”

Zhou Yun stood up and went to the room, quickly changed into a new outfit, and then went out to find Zhou Lan.

She went straight to Zhou Lan’s office. Zhou Lan was sitting in the office, reviewing documents. Surprised by Zhou Yun’s unexpected visit, she asked: ”Why did you come to see me?”

Zhou Yun said: ”Why else, of course, something has happened.”

Zhou Lan subconsciously reached for her phone.

”Did you stir up trouble and end up on the trending search again?”

”Wait, wait,” Zhou Yun said. ”It’s not me who’s in trouble.”

Zhou Lan let out a sigh of relief, ”Can’t you just say everything in one breath?”

Zhou Yun curled her lip and recounted the whole story to Zhou Lan.

After listening to Zhou Yun’s story, Zhou Lan’s face darkened.

”They dare! The contract clearly states that content related to you in the final cut must be reviewed by us. Without our permission, the content cannot be broadcast.”

”Sister Lan, you know that although the contract says this, how many producers actually do it?” Zhou Yun said. ”If they really followed the contract to the letter, there wouldn’t be so many artists getting exposed on shows.”

Generally speaking, unless it gets to a point of no return, the relationship between artists, production teams, and platforms does not escalate to court lawsuits.

Even the renowned Diamond Lady, after publicly confronting the platform for malicious editing that led to bad publicity for her young boyfriend, didn’t completely burn bridges with the platform, but ”amicably” and ”face-savingly” withdrew from the show’s recording.

Zhou Yun said: ”By that time, they’ll just find an excuse to say that the staff uploading the footage made an oversight. Are we really going to sue them in court?”

Zhou Lan sneered: ”If they really dare to maliciously edit it, we’ll see if I sue them or not.”

We’re not newcomers, to be bullied without the power to fight back.
