”No, I don’t want to.”

The speaker was Xu Siyao.

She was wearing a shiny performance outfit, having just recorded the performance segment of an online variety show as a flying guest, and was now on her way back to the backstage dressing room to change.

Her agent received instructions from the company to remind Xu Siyao to post a Weibo supporting Zhou Yun, but Xu Siyao refused without even thinking.

The agent said, ”You’re now one of Zhou Yun’s fans, it’s good for increasing your popularity to support her at this time.”

Xu Siyao rolled her eyes and said, ”I’d be crazy to support her. Everyone on the internet is cursing her now. What if I get cursed too for supporting her?”

The agent tried to persuade her kindly, ”The netizens will definitely curse you, but the more people curse you, the higher your popularity will rise.”

”I really don’t want to take the route of infamous fame,” Xu Siyao shook her head.

Agent: ”It’s not about infamous fame, you support Zhou Yun and get cursed, that’s not your problem, it’s easy to clarify things afterward.”

Xu Siyao still shook her head, ”No, I should stay far away from her at a time like this, don’t mess things up; what if I get implicated?”

The agent had nothing to say, and had no choice but to reply back to the company.

Actually, she thought the company’s proposal was correct.

This was the best opportunity for Xu Siyao to boost her popularity; even if she got blamed, it wouldn’t matter much.

Once her popularity rose, she could apologize impartially later, saying she had been blinded for a moment by believing in her idol, and she would be cautious in the future. That should clear all misgivings.

Who would hold onto a small issue against such a young girl?

She hasn’t made any substantial mistake.

Thinking this, the agent felt it was a pity, but seeing Xu Siyao’s expression, she knew she couldn’t persuade her and had to let it go.

After two days of continued uproar, Zhou Lan informed Zhou Yun that the jobs they had previously arranged were all postponed.

Zhou Lan didn’t specify the reason, but Zhou Yun knew.

Even though the company issued a statement, public opinion did not lean towards her. Online public opinion is often a direction; once someone starts a trend, many uninformed people follow. The so-called ”three men make a tiger,” rational people are always the minority.

The partners might not disapprove of her, but they also had to consider their reputation.

Whether it was TV production teams or brands, in today’s environment, everyone fears trouble.

Once an artist gets labeled as controversial, all their jobs could risk falling through.

They are cautious, and Zhou Yun understood.

Her schedule unexpectedly cleared.

With no work, Zhou Yun only had the show ”After the Scandal” left to shoot.

The show was scheduled to go live at the end of the month, by then the attention might subside, and the public’s antagonism would have peaked.

Zhou Yun found herself with free time, so she started attending more performance classes at the company.

Zhou Lan felt relieved seeing Zhou Yun take initiative to arrange more performance classes.

Li Yuning brought a team to shoot at the company.

One day while entering the company, Zhou Yun happened to run into Xu Siyao.

Xu Siyao’s agent actively greeted Zhou Yun, but Xu Siyao passed by her as if she hadn’t seen Zhou Yun at all, without a sidelong glance.

Zhou Yun was a bit surprised, thinking, has this girl decided not to even pretend?

The cameras were still rolling.

During a mid-class break in the performance class, Zheng Xiaojue ordered milk tea for the performance teacher and the production crew members to drink, while Zhou Yun went to the restroom.

As she was about to exit the stall, she suddenly heard footsteps coming inside.

”Zhou Yun came to the company again today.”

”Her work was all canceled recently, she comes every day for performance classes, isn’t she supposed to start shooting a film at the end of the month?”

The speakers were both women.

Zhou Yun paused her movement.

”I don’t know if the thing with Zhao Qin is true or not.”

”It’s probably fake, I know about ’Geology Talk’; wasn’t it Zhou Lan who secured that for her? Zhou Yun wasn’t famous back then.”

”Who knows, but with such a big controversy now, I don’t know if she can make it through. I heard from colleagues in the public relations department that they have been trying to shift the online public opinion these days, but some groups have spent a lot of money to take advantage of this incident to suppress Zhou Yun.”

”Our company has finally made a female artist famous this year; if it ends prematurely, then we truly are having an unfortunate year.”
