Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 607: Chapter 452: Nomination Turmoil (Part 2)

”Yeah, at the beginning of the year, Ning Yao ending her contract and leaving already caused the company’s stock to drop, and I heard President He was even called to the headquarters and got scolded by the chairman.”

”Ruxue also refuses to renew her contract.”

”We don’t have any outstanding female artists left.”

”Hopefully Zhou Yun can hold on.”

...

Zhou Yun stayed hidden in the cubicle, waiting for the two people to leave before she came out.

Unexpectedly, she didn’t hear people talking behind her back, but the content of the conversation was still not pleasant.

It was all gloomy and disheartening.

In the evening, Zhou Yun and Zhou Lan had dinner in a restaurant.

Zhou Lan gave Li Yuning a heads-up, so they didn’t record this dinner.

Li Yuning was easy-going, nodded, packed up his things and went back to his car.

With such a big issue involving Zhou Yun, Zhou Lan certainly had things she needed to say to Zhou Yun that weren’t suitable for the program.

Similarly, this was something the production team had not anticipated.

The material recorded these days was much more than expected; there was no lack of explosive points for the show.

After everyone left, Zheng Xiaojue said, ”Sister Lan, Sister Xiao Yun, I’ll go wait in the car.”

Zhou Lan stopped Zheng Xiaojue and said, ”Stay here. There are some things you should listen to as well.”

Zheng Xiaojue responded ”Oh,” and then sat down.

”We’ve done what we needed to do in response and have sent out the lawyer’s letters, but to little avail. For the next period, I suggest we keep a low profile. We’re about to start filming soon anyway. We can slowly resume public appearances after this blows over,” Zhou Lan said.

Zhou Yun nodded, having no objections.

Zhou Lan said, ”Xiao Yun, don’t take this matter too much to heart. All celebrities who rise to fame inevitably face backlash; it’s a path that must be taken.”

”Sure,” Zhou Yun nodded.

Even Zheng Xiaojue could see that Zhou Yun was in very low spirits.

”Sister Lan, don’t worry about me. I’ll adjust my mood on my own. Right now, I can’t help but take it to heart,” Zhou Yun bitterly smiled and said, ”I’m hungry. Let’s eat.”

Hearing Zhou Yun say that, Zhou Lan couldn’t say much else.

After finishing the meal, they prepared to leave the restaurant and bumped into a couple at the entrance who were about to dine there.

Seeing Zhou Yun, the wife’s expression changed instantly, and she tightened her grip on her husband’s arm.

The implication was as complex as it was simple.

Zhou Yun heard the wife say in a lowered voice, ”Did you see? That person just now seems to be the celebrity who slept with the director.”

She laughed self-deprecatingly.

Powerless to explain, no way to refute.

Even though she encountered such situations, Zhou Yun did not confine herself to her home.

She actually did care and felt hurt inside, but she forced herself to go out normally - to attend performance classes at the company, to meetings for ”Eighth Heartbeat,” to meet with Xiaowen, to discuss costumes for the drama, to invite Yuk Chu for dinner at her house, and to record ”After the Scandal.”

She did not pretend to be in great shape and unaffected, but she kept her spirits up and didn’t easily admit defeat.

Yuk Chu spent a whole day with her at home, playing video games, watching movies, and they even went to the supermarket to shop for groceries together, then came back to cook and had a laugh.

When night fell, Zhou Yun walked Yuk Chu downstairs.

Yuk Chu suggested, ”Shall I take a walk with you?”

Photographers were following them.

Zhou Yun took Yuk Chu’s hand and said, ”Sure.”

”It’s actually pretty good. You were so busy in the past few months, exhausted to the bone. It’s good to take a few days off and recharge before you start filming,” Yuk Chu said.

”Yeah,” Zhou Yun nodded.

Yuk Chu did not continue.

”When will you be done filming ’Eighth Heartbeat’?” Yuk Chu asked.

”Until the end of September.”

”That’s still quite a while. If I’m free, I’ll come visit the set.”

”Sure, but you’ll be joining a crew soon too, right? Where will you find the time?” Zhou Yun said, ”You’re making empty promises again.”

”My next role isn’t big, I’ll have more flexible time,” Yuk Chu said. ”When the time comes, let me know whatever you want to eat or need, and I’ll bring it to you.”

”I’m shooting a modern drama, not going off into some wilderness,” Zhou Yun laughed.

”Here I am trying to give you some warmth, and you’re complaining,” Yuk Chu gave a sidelong glance.

”Quit it. If you didn’t give me a phone case just like Song Chi’s, my scandal with him wouldn’t have blown up like it did.”
