Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 644: Chapter 472: Unexpected Delight

Xu Siyao’s Weibo post has been at the top of the trending search list all morning.

Although Xu Siyao didn’t name anyone in this post, anyone who knows a bit of history between Zhou Yun and Xu Siyao would understand who this ”you” refers to.

Netizens are stimulated by this ”heartfelt” Weibo post, and they’ve spun stories online, enacting a drama of ”unrequited love.”

Zhou Yun was trending without doing anything and was playfully dubbed as ”a female celebrity who makes other female stars feel jealous and ashamed.”

The turmoil this farce has stirred up online surpassed everyone’s expectations, mainly because these days, it’s too rare to see a celebrity showing their true feelings.

Xu Siyao has made such a rare confession, causing everyone’s adrenaline to surge.

Netizens began to meme, Photoshopping pictures of the two of them together.

Zhou Yun’s Weibo was flooded with countless teasing comments.

Some die-hard fans of Zhou Yun couldn’t stand by and started to rebut one by one.

But those in the know understand that the more seriously you take it, the more rebuttals you make, the angrier you get.

Zhou Yun didn’t plan to let herself become even angrier.

She didn’t reply to Xu Siyao on Weibo but contacted Zhou Lan instead.

Surprisingly, Zhou Lan sighed first thing after answering the call.

Zhou Yun knew that Zhou Lan was also at a loss for words due to Xu Siyao’s recurring antics.

It seemed that everything that could be said, wanted to say, or needed to say had already been said, and now there was nothing left to discuss.

At this moment, Zhou Yun wasn’t feeling solidarity against a common enemy, but somewhat reveled in schadenfreude.

So, there were times when even Sister Lan was at a loss for words.

”What should we do?” she asked Zhou Lan.

Zhou Lan shook her head and said, ”What else can we do but just ignore her? In this kind of situation, no matter how you respond, it will spark a new round of discussion. Only by giving it the cold shoulder.”

Zhou Yun: ”I don’t even know if I should call her shameless.”

”Even if you call her shameless, does she care? If she can openly say such words on Weibo, it only means she doesn’t want her own reputation anymore.”

”But the netizens are eating it up.”

”They find it novel.”

”Sigh, Sister Lan, to be honest with you, I’m really starting to admire her now. Seriously, when it comes to shamelessness, no one can outdo her. With just one Weibo post, when the show ’What a Nice Weather’ airs, people will interpret her actions as jealousy and longing.”

Zhou Lan said, ”Exactly, by doing this, she seems to put herself in a very low position, like bowing down to you, but in fact, she has whitewashed all her past misdeeds. Everything she did was out of love for you, wanting to be like you, just with the wrong approach. This woman, self-inflicting an injury, has unexpectedly carved out a path for herself.”

”If I don’t show magnanimity now and forgive her, wouldn’t I be seeming particularly petty?” Zhou Yun asked.

”It’s not that serious, but yes, you will face some scrutiny in the court of public opinion,” Zhou Lan said. ”Even if many people support you, some will still criticize you without sympathy for being narrow-minded.”

Zhou Yun: ”I thought so.”

”That’s why I think we should not respond to anything on our end, just maintain silence. Silence itself is a stance.”

Zhou Yun said: ”And what if Xu Siyao continues to use this as a topic for marketing?”

Zhou Lan replied: ”Xiao Yun, like I said, this is the first time Xu Siyao has done something like this, everyone finds it fresh, they think Xu Siyao is showing some true emotions, so even though what she’s doing is wrong, people are willing to accept her imperfections. But believe me, if a person repeats the same Kung Fu over and over, they will get tired and annoyed. If she really does that, then good, we don’t have to say or do anything, she will dig her own grave.”

Zhou Yun: ”Okay then, we won’t respond, we’ll stay silent, sigh, it’s really suffocating.”

Zhou Lan: ”It’s not suffocating, it’s not. Think of it this way: we hold all the cards. She’s just a jumping clown trying to save herself.”

Zhou Yun: ”But this clown has been jumping for too long!”

...

That evening, Song Chi was attending a public event to endorse a product.

Of course, he was aware of the friction between Zhou Yun and Xu Siyao these past few days, as well as Xu Siyao’s Weibo post.

But he didn’t expect that someone would actually bring up this issue to him.

”Song Chi, regarding Xu Siyao’s declaration on Weibo to Zhou Yun last night, do you have any comments?”

Song Chi, standing in front of a crowd of journalists, paused unusually.

He said, ”Do I need to comment on this?”

A journalist asked: ”Then, what was Zhou Yun’s reaction after seeing Xu Siyao’s Weibo?”

He said, ”You should ask her that.”

The journalist said, ”Aren’t you guys a couple?”

He said, ”Thank you.”

Then he turned and left.

This incident was posted online, and there was another wave of heated discussion.

The focus was on Song Chi’s attitude.

It was clear, Song Chi was not in favor of Xu Siyao.

In a sense, this was Zhou Yun’s stance as well.

As long as Zhou Yun doesn’t explicitly say she doesn’t accept Xu Siyao’s Weibo confession and still dislikes Xu Siyao, as long as she doesn’t put down such words, no one can criticize her.

But some negative comments still emerged.

Someone said that Xu Siyao’s Weibo post had been up for so long, and Zhou Yun had not responded, deliberately leaving Xu Siyao hanging.

Of course, such comments would be countered by others.

Who has the right to demand that Zhou Yun must respond?

That’s always how it is said.

It’s only natural that Song Chi dislikes Xu Siyao. His attitude during the interview was to avoid trouble for Zhou Yun, hence being so tactful.

If he were to really speak his mind, he’d label Xu Siyao’s behavior as clout-chasing.

Not just Song Chi, but almost anyone in the entertainment industry familiar with the ins and outs of this incident would agree with Song Chi.

Isn’t Xu Siyao just clout-chasing?

Despite Xu Siyao now having a semblance of whitewashing online, in reality, celebrities in the circle are keeping more and more distance from her, some even outright deleting her as a friend.

What if she starts clout-chasing them one day?

Anyone with a bit of fame would be wary of this.

Of course, Xu Siyao herself might not mind.

When she found that the Weibo she posted while drunk unexpectedly made her liked by many, she had only one thought: unexpectedly, there are no dead ends in life.

An unexpected joy.

She even received partnership invitations from two well-known brands.

Such invitations were absolutely impossible in the past.

Any brand that is slightly known or cares about its reputation would never partner with Xu Siyao.
