Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 643: Chapter 471: Shameless Beyond Limits

At nine o’clock in the evening, Zhou Lan sent a message to Zhou Yun: Xu Siyao is like crazy, sending me messages and calling me.

Zhou Yun’s phone was turned off and she didn’t see the message right away.

At that time, she was in bed with Song Chi.

It wasn’t until after she finished showering and drying her hair that Zhou Yun remembered to turn on her phone.

The moment she turned it on, wow, Zhou Lan had actually called her twice and missed both calls.

Zhou Yun called back.

”Sister Lan.”

”Do you have any idea how psychotic Xu Siyao is?” Zhou Lan complained, ”This woman kept calling me like a madwoman. I blocked her, and then she had someone else call me.”

Zhou Yun sneered, ”If you knew this day would come, why did you do it in the first place?”

Zhou Lan shrugged, ”She’s totally panicking now.”

Zhou Yun said resignedly, ”Anyway, this time I won’t let her off easily.”

Zhou Lan: ”Should we expose this matter?”

”What impact would it have on her if it were exposed?” Zhou Yun asked.

”People will mock her, but she’s already being mocked enough as it is. To be honest, with the show airing as usual, Xu Siyao is already going to be made fun of on a large scale. If we blow up this issue as well, people will only realize that this pile of shit stinks more than they thought, but it won’t have any substantial meaning to her. Even with the backlash, she will still be popular and able to land lots of collaborations.”

”But has she never run into trouble promoting so many no-name brands?” Zhou Yun asked in surprise.

Zhou Lan answered, ”As of now, she hasn’t. It’s not just you that she’s offended in the entertainment industry; many people are looking to trouble her. But she really has been careful in this regard. Even though the brands she cooperates with aren’t well-known, they haven’t had any major quality issues.”

”Incredible.”

”If there were any products that weren’t okay, the company wouldn’t agree to her promotions,” Zhou Lan said. ”He Yong is too shrewd to slip up on something like this.”

”True.”

Zhou Lan said, ”This time, after the show airs, my thought is there’s no need to pursue further victory. It would be a waste to use up this leverage. Let’s keep it in our hands. With this leverage, if she dares to cross us in the future, we can use it to threaten her and keep her in check. It’s hard to shake off a plaster, so we can only think of ways to restrain her.”

Zhou Yun mused, ”That’s letting her off too easy.”

”It’s not letting her off easy. Did you know? Chen Wenjun broke up with her.”

”What?” Zhou Yun’s eyes widened in shock. ”For real?”

”Absolutely true. Chen Wenjun said so himself,” Zhou Lan said. ”He said he couldn’t believe how foolish Xu Siyao was; he just couldn’t take it anymore.”

”That’s pretty tasteless of him; even after breaking up, he’s still bad-mouthing Xu Siyao,” Zhou Yun commented.

”Shouldn’t you be wholeheartedly in favor of him speaking ill of Xu Siyao?”

”Well, I am Xu Siyao’s enemy, but he was her boyfriend. Isn’t it a common understanding to not badmouth one’s ex after breaking up?” Zhou Yun said, ”Besides, what kind of good man could actually fall for Xu Siyao.”

Zhou Lan: ”...”

Zhou Lan: ”You’re attacking indiscriminately.”

Zhou Yun: ”Oh well, I won’t talk about this anymore, I’m sleepy and going to sleep.”

”Okay, remember there’s an advertisement shoot tomorrow,” Zhou Lan said.

”I know, I know, I remember. But Jinling Jewelry really likes to change their commercials frequently, swapping them out every few months.”

”They always introduce new designs, and each new design requires a new commercial. It’s written in the contract, we have to comply,” Zhou Lan said. ”And with every new commercial we shoot, there is a new fee; you’re not working for free.”

Zhou Yun: ”Alright.”

Zhou Lan: ”But I’ve heard that Jinling Jewelry might be bringing Su Yan back as the spokesperson.”

”Ah?”

”’Heart Inquiry’ is a massive hit, and Su Yan was an oversight for the Huayu Award. Her image is now excellent, plus Su Yan’s side has been actively reaching out to Jinling Jewelry,” Zhou Lan said. ”However, Jinling Jewelry is also hesitant because they’ve already chosen us as spokespeople, and Su Yan’s route overlaps with yours, total competitors. Having both of you as spokespersons is too wasteful; the cost-effectiveness is too low. I heard Jinling Jewelry is considering finding representatives from athletes and other professions to expand their influence.”

”That’s quite an idea, athletes are getting a lot of attention these days,” Zhou Yun said. ”You talk to the people at Jinling Jewelry, why find so many celebrities as spokespeople? The entertainment industry is only a small part of the world. Athletes, intellectuals, and elites from other fields as spokespersons could greatly enhance the brand’s value.”

Zhou Lan laughed, ”The way you say it, you might as well tell them directly you don’t want to be a spokesperson alongside Su Yan.”

Zhou Yun: ”We can say that privately, but we can’t say that publicly. If someone catches on to that, it’ll cause a whole lot of trouble.”

Zhou Lan said contentedly: ”You’ve grown up.”

However, neither of them had expected that that night, Xu Siyao did something big.

When Zhou Yun woke up the next day, she found many people gleefully congratulating her on gaining a new fan.

She was still confused until she saw the Weibo post Xu Siyao had made at midnight.

——Before I debuted, I looked up to you as an idol. I worshipped you, and gradually I became envious. You were the sun I chased, wanting to be like you. But you are so excellent, so outstanding that I felt our distance growing more and more. I began to envy you. I know I am a bad person because of my envy, so I always acted out deliberately, trying to make you notice me. I can’t stand your ignorance of me, but I’ve been so foolish. Every time I tried to get your attention, it only made you hate me more. I hate myself so much. Looking at myself in the mirror, the thought of you hating the person in it, I can’t help but join in. I am so lucky to have had the chance to work with you on two films. Nobody is luckier than me, yet I didn’t seize the opportunity and made you hate me even more. It’s so painful. I really hope one day you can forgive me. I wish everything could start over anew. I wish that one day we could be true sisters.

Attached was a photo of a drunken Xu Siyao with red-rimmed eyes.

Zhou Yun took a sharp intake of breath, her sleepiness and grogginess instantly vanished without a trace.

She swore, ”Damn.”

Song Chi turned and hugged her, asking, ”What’s wrong?”

He hadn’t quite woken up yet and was mumbling.

Zhou Yun said, ”Someone incredibly ridiculous has managed to become even more ridiculous, shamelessly creating a spectacle.”
