————————————

Leaving the burial grounds, Gu Xi sat cross-legged atop the Evil Coffin, his Cold Wind Staff directly inserted into an Iron Chain.

With the Demon’s Right Hand dragging him, Gu Xi wouldn’t be thrown off even if he stood upside down on the Evil Coffin.

Now, he finally had the mind to glance at the surroundings.

He was also contemplating some matters.

Although the current task was merely to search for the Skull Flower, having heard the tales of this Mysterious Academy, Gu Xi had a gut feeling that the Black-robed Skeleton was plotting something.

Is he intending to use my power to search for materials?

Gu Xi had a feeling that things weren’t that simple.

Upon leaving the burial grounds, Gu Xi suddenly patted the Evil Coffin, his expression grave as he looked around.

Something seemed a little off.

Previously, within this space, aside from the sound of the train appearing, the forest was usually silent.

The whole forest seemed dead.

Even when chasing a shadow, the situation when he found the Black-robed Skeleton was the same; the shadow moved incredibly fast without making a sound.

But now, rustling sounds came from the forest.

This situation was clearly unusual.

Gu Xi immediately reached out to grasp the Cold Wind Staff, the tip heavily striking the ground.

Bone Storm!

A massive Bone Storm expanded outward with Gu Xi at its center, countless trees being shattered to pieces under the force of the Bone Storm combined with ice and flames.

As these trees fell, Gu Xi noticed a large group of horses turned into skeletons fleeing into the distance.

Upon seeing this situation, Gu Xi didn’t hesitate, lifting the Cold Wind Staff and launching an attack at those fleeing horses.

”Magic Divine Arrow!”

With Gu Xi’s spell, several flaming Ice Swords flew off the Cold Wind Staff, swiftly hitting several of the Skeleton Horses.

At this moment, these Skeleton Horses turned around. How they moved was unknown, but in just two steps, they were in mid-air, attempting to bite towards Gu Xi.

”Bone Storm!”

Gu Xi immediately cast the spell, and without the Undead Corps, Bone Storm was the best spell for defense.

As the Bone Storm rose centered on Gu Xi, the few leading Skeleton Horses were shattered on the spot.

Simultaneously, Gu Xi turned his hand over, pointing to where a Skeleton Horse had fallen.

”Bone Shield!”

The Steel City Gate began to appear slowly, the Earth-bound Deceitful Dragon straightened up immediately, staring at the charging Skeleton Horses.

However, these Skeleton Horses reacted exceptionally fast, exploding like bats and disappearing from Gu Xi’s view in an instant.

Had Gu Xi not been looking at the battle scene, he might doubt the previous scene was his illusion.

By this time, the Steel City Gate had already opened, a large number of Undead Corps flooding out.

Eldest Princess Anna and her entourage also arrived.

Seeing the current situation, they were speechless.

Weren’t they supposed to come here to learn?

How did a fight break out in less than a day?

”My lord, do you need me to dispatch some troops?”

”No need for now, just send the Corpse Poison Flies and the Stone Golems. As long as I’m not ambushed, my safety won’t be a problem.”

Gu Xi glanced around. He still intended to send his forces out.

At the very least, such incidents like the earlier one shouldn’t happen again.

”My lord, should we send the Bone Locusts over?”

”Yes, send over a hundred groups.”

Gu Xi thought for a moment, ”Continue with your tasks and leave a part of the troops near the Steel City Gate waiting for orders.”

Eldest Princess Anna initially wanted to arrange more personnel for Gu Xi, but hearing his statement, she didn’t insist.

Anyway, Gu Xi could always deploy the City Gate to the battlefield. If anything significant were to occur, Gu Xi wouldn’t put himself in danger.

Earlier, it was just that Gu Xi’s hands were itchy, wanting to test his current strength.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have delayed opening the Steel City Gate until that moment.

Soon, the needed troops for Gu Xi were mobilized.

The Corpse Poison Flies hadn’t suffered losses in the previous battle nor gained reinforcements, still numbering a hundred groups, and the Stone Golems produced over three weeks amounted to forty-five.

Adding a hundred groups of Bone Locusts, all the troops, upon arrival, blocked out the sunlight above Gu Xi.

With these soldiers, Gu Xi felt more confident, waving his hand, keeping the Corpse Poison Flies for protection, and sending the Stone Golem and Bone Locusts out for reconnaissance.

Gu Xi’s orders were to consider anything moving as an enemy.

As for the trees, they shouldn’t be destroyed.

After all, Gu Xi was here to learn, not to destroy an academy.

Destroying this place wouldn’t benefit Gu Xi; he only wanted to ensure his safety.

With the Stone Golem scouting, Gu Xi soon left the forest.

Heading in a different direction caused Gu Xi to move further from the train tracks.

Precisely because of this, Gu Xi discovered many things he hadn’t noticed among the mountains.

For example, the current situation was such.

As Gu Xi left the forest, he arrived at a mountaintop.

No trees adorned this peak, only withered yellow wild grass. However, Gu Xi discovered numerous stone-carved statues there.

They had clearly been placed for a long time, weathered by wind and sun, some becoming damaged.

Gu Xi noticed that among these statues were students, both male and female, wearing the black robes he saw on the train, scarves around their necks.

However, everything on them had turned ashen gray, making it hard for Gu Xi to discern their departments.

The statues were like toys, carelessly arranged together.

Among them was a particularly peculiar group: a cluster of children statues surrounded together.

Within the statues was a tiny withered cat statue.

From a distance, it seemed like a theme sculpture of mischievous kids bullying a little cat.

In such a situation, all Gu Xi could say was that the one who left these statues had a real playful heart.

Taking out the map from the Evil Coffin for comparison, Gu Xi made a brief stop there.

The Bone Locusts and Stone Golem dispatched earlier also returned, bringing Gu Xi news from within a hundred miles.

Apart from the earlier encounter, there was no sign of life within this proximity.

This meant the Skeleton Horses had appeared out of nowhere to attack Gu Xi and then vanished again.

This left Gu Xi puzzled.

Why was this?
