Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 408: Chapter 406: The Bloody Treasure Chest Brought Back

In the subsequent period, Gu Xi changed his plan.

He didn’t intend to leave Yalidu City even after nightfall.

With this, the garrison gate he unintentionally opened at Blood Luo Cave became an important communication channel.

When Amirka returned with the treasure found at Blood Luo Cave, Gu Xi stopped them from rejoining.

”What’s the situation outside?”

Gu Xi only allowed Amirka to return, leaving his troops in the real world to maintain the garrison gate’s presence there.

”Outside isn’t the real world. I led my troops to the subway station. Yes, that’s right, to the outside of the subway station. It’s apparent that outside is a space filled with blood and twisted trees.

The river water is blood-red, and in the sky flies a kind of bird made of bones. From afar, one can seemingly see a giant demon beast, reduced to bones, resting against the mountain.

The treasure we were looking for was quite far from that demon beast, so we didn’t approach; we just dug up the treasure and retreated.

This is the treasure we brought back.”

”What’s the enemy’s situation? Did you find the eerie treasure?”

”We found it. The eerie appeared right after we exited the subway station. It’s a very strange eerie; it seems to provoke others to attack it, as if wanting to anger others, but its actual combat power isn’t strong.

After hitting it once, it tries hard to make itself bigger, giving the impression of just trying to scare people.

Master, this treasure probably isn’t fake.

”I doubt it, Amirka. I’m giving you a task now. Stay by the garrison gate and observe whether there’s any change at night in the station of Blood Luo Cave.

If it turns into a demon’s world at night, send a signal back so that I can deploy several heroes.”

”Understood!”

Amirka accepted the task immediately.

Gu Xi then turned his gaze to the treasure Amirka had just found.

What was sent over was an iron box covered in dirt, but when Gu Xi touched it, he found it different from the mysterious treasure chests outside.

This was a bloody treasure chest that Gu Xi had never heard of.

[You have obtained a bloody treasure chest (the bloody treasure chest is a bait-type chest. If you perish during the chest search, everything will be consumed by the chest, which will grow based on the amount of flesh it devours.)]

The explanation of this bloody treasure chest surprised Gu Xi a bit.

He had never imagined that there would be such self-growing treasure chests.

This chest, buried underground for who knows how long, had devoured countless lives. After brushing away the dirt, Gu Xi could even see that its color had turned dark red.

Looking at the chest in front of him, Gu Xi didn’t think too much, and with a strong upward push, he opened the chest.

Before he could even see what was inside, a large number of ghostly wraiths appeared before him, accompanied by a voice amidst the howls.

[You are opening a bloody treasure chest that has consumed the lives of 96 warriors. Do you wish to leave it be and strive for a higher quality chest?]

Upon hearing the voice, Gu Xi ignored it completely.

What 96 warriors, more like 96 unfortunate souls.

As for waiting for a hundred, Gu Xi had no such thought. Leaving a chest unopened after obtaining it, waiting for an upgrade, who even thinks like that?

Thus, Gu Xi decisively forced the lid up, but the voice in his ear became increasingly urgent.

”Open it, now!”

With a loud shout from Gu Xi, the chest opened with a bang.

A large amount of items, mixed with foul blood, erupted from it.

[You have opened a bloody treasure chest (Green).]

[You have obtained 1,417 bloody gold coins.]

[You have obtained 13 contaminated crystals.]

[You have obtained 19 corruption gems.]

[You have obtained 9 twisted essence blood.]

[You have obtained 2 soldier enhancement coupons (Level 8).]

[You have obtained 2 Building Stone·Pollution (Level 3).]

[You have obtained 1 blood-colored cloak design map (Blue, recipe).]

[You have obtained 197 blood essences (Level 4).]

[Bloody Gold Coins: Gold coins soaked in foul blood for a long time. They are covered with foul blood and cursed with eerie vestiges.]

[Contaminated Crystal: A crystal influenced by foul blood. Still crystalline in form, but uncontrolled, some may desire it.]

[Corruption Gem: A gem influenced by foul blood, unusable by ordinary means but favored by corrupted beings as decoration.]

[Twisted Essence Blood: Essence blood transformed by twisted power. Can be used to enhance weapons or corpse and troop units.]

[Soldier Enhancement Coupon (Level 8): Enhances ten soldiers from Level 0 to Level 8.]

[Building Stone·Pollution (Level 3): Pollutes a structure below Level 3, transforming it with foul blood, corruption, or other negative attributes.]

[Blood-colored Cloak Design Map (Blue, Recipe): Used in a blacksmith or tailor shop. In a blacksmith shop, it provides an extra cloak slot for all soldiers. In a tailor shop, it makes blue-quality blood-colored cloaks.]

[Blood Essence (Level 4): Essence from strong warriors who died within a bloody chest, used to summon undead to serve you.]

Looking at the information in front of him, Gu Xi knew that treasure chests sometimes weren’t honest. This clearly had consumed 197 people, yet it mentioned 96, likely to expedite its self-strengthening.

This was also why the chest doesn’t encourage opening by people.

Considering this, Gu Xi gave the chest a hefty kick, flipping its hollow body over to reveal the bottom.

He discovered a large mouth-like relief at the bottom, still tainted with foul blood.

Remembering the relief, Gu Xi proceeded to handle the spoils of this occasion.

Amongst all gains this time, the most significant was undoubtedly the 197 lives’ blood essence.

Gu Xi understood that this was used for summoning, like soul fragments.

Only, blood essence might not only be for summoning but possibly other troop types.

Moreover, given this blood essence level, the summoned units should start at Level 4.

As for the blood-colored cloak, it presented two choices.

Either it grants all troops an additional cloak slot, effectively giving ordinary soldiers an extra piece of equipment besides weapons and armor.

No matter what the cloak’s attributes are, it would surely augment and reinforce soldiers.

Or it can mass-produce blue-quality cloaks.

Gu Xi knew well what attributes blue-quality gear carried.

If these cloaks were on hand, he could make a considerable profit.

No matter Gu Xi’s choice, this design map was his greatest gain this time around.
