Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

The experiment had continued for about a week, and so far, no unforeseen developments had occurred.

There were also no accidents that couldn’t be handled.

Aside from the daily data collection, the most tiring part was the organization and analysis of the data.

It just so happened that I wasn’t responsible for that part, because I was in charge of another, more complex matter.

That was the continuous compression and refinement of the time consumed by the ritual.

My goal was naturally the theoretical one: completing the refinement of Self-generating Magic Power within a few hours.

But clearly, this wasn’t very possible.

Furthermore, this impossibility was gradually confirmed as I continuously touched upon deep-level cognition.

I finally understood why it consumed so little time when advancing to Transcendent.

It was because of the power tier.

Transcendent influence wasn’t just about the energy level guided by the ability, but rather a tier that guided True Time.

Using Transcendent-tier means to refine Self-generating Magic Power was called a dimensionality reduction attack, whereas at my current stage, I was just moving step-by-step.

Abilities of different tiers naturally could only be compensated for with time.

So… after understanding this point, I gradually stopped.

Although I had said before that I wanted to shorten the refining ritual to within a few hours, doing something while knowing it couldn’t be done would be foolish.

Or rather, was it truly impossible to achieve?

Perhaps it was possible, but it would consume time and energy that I wouldn’t even dare to imagine.

Instead of doing such a thankless task, I might as well think about how to advance to Transcendent!

“Xiao Han, do you plan to only refine it to this extent?”

Tan Han inquired.

At this moment, Tan Han’s Self-generating Magic Power was already nearing refinement.

It would only take about another day for the refinement progress of her Self-generating Magic Power to reach a level very close to mine.

As for why it was close and not the same.

It was because mine was the naturally shaped Prototype Self-generating Magic Power, while Tan Han and the others were not; they were merely at the end of the non-Transcendent stage, but that would never be complete.

“Yeah, at the non-Transcendent tier, this is the limit of what can be achieved, or at least the limit as I see it. If I want to go any further… Perhaps I’ll have to wait until I advance to Transcendent.”

I shrugged and spoke very nonchalantly.

With the perfect conclusion of the refining ritual, I considered my part in the Self-generating Magic Power project experiment to be officially finished.

As for the structuring ritual… it was still currently being explored.

During this week, two additional people had completed the structuring ritual.

Counting Tan Han and Yi Rui, the number of successful cases had now reached four.

However, these two new additions weren’t any of the 147 testers, but rather two sisters from the laboratory.

They also participated in the experiment in batches.

After all, before this hundred-person large-scale experiment, they were the first batch of experimental subjects!

The success of these two indeed confirmed that the structuring ritual could be summarized and its patterns found through continuous experimental exploration.

Even if they couldn’t clearly understand the principles, as long as it could be utilized, it was a qualified technique.

I knew the principles, but I couldn’t ensure success every time.

Wait until enough successful cases and data have been collected, and it will be convenient for me to understand the connection between theory and application.

After figuring these things out, I didn’t intend to continue wasting time here.

Millian had already delivered the Soul Crystals to me during this week.

Through her negotiations with Wan Shi Wu using the Heart of Cold Tide, she had secured a large number of Soul Crystals for me, and the quantity was indeed more than I had expected.

I even had a premonition that even if I transformed all of those hundred or so Fool’s Dreams into soul lives, it might be more than enough.

“So… is your next plan thinking about how to advance to Transcendent?”

Tan Han asked instinctively, almost as if joking, after hearing my words.

“I’d like to, but my life tier isn’t high enough yet. Fortunately, I have other things to do.”

I shook my head and dismissed Tan Han’s suggestion.

Once I attempted to use Soul Depiction to shape souls for the Fool’s Dreams, I could try to see if I could use the Soul Depiction technique to create a derivative technique that could rapidly elevate my soul tier.

If my life essence was also soul-substance, I heard there were already some relatively mature methods of using soul-substance to elevate life tiers.

But unfortunately, I wasn’t.

“Is it… something about the life project of the Fool’s Dream?”

“You even know about that?”

“Yeah, I heard them talking about it.”

“So that’s how it is. But I indeed didn’t tell them not to talk. Since you all know, then I’ll be ending my participation in this Self-generating Magic Power experiment here. As for you, Tan Han… if you’re willing to stay and cooperate with them to continue collecting further data, I won’t stop you. If you choose to leave, follow your own heart.”

“I can choose to stay and contin—”

“Little Tan, actually it’s not necessary. Before long, I’ll also have nearly refined Self-generating Magic Power completely. There’s no need to force you to stay and cooperate with us.”

Yi Rui spoke up from the side and interrupted Tan Han’s words.

“At your current stage, Little Tan, you should firmly walk your own path and face your own challenges.”

“Is that what you think, Big Sis Yi Rui?”

Tan Han was a bit surprised after hearing that.

“Yeah. If you insist on staying for a few more days, that’s also fine. We can also help monitor your physical condition to see if your body will have any hidden dangers left behind after refining Self-generating Magic Power.”

Yi Rui stepped back a few paces and said.

“Okay, then I’ll stay for a few more days.”

“Staying for a few days to check on the situation is indeed a good choice.”

I commented on this as well.

Since Tan Han had made this choice, regardless of her reasons for being temporarily unwilling to leave, she surely had her own considerations.

After greeting the sisters in the laboratory one after another, I planned to start the Soul Depiction experiment on the Fool’s Dreams tomorrow.

After all, I had prepared for this experiment for a very long time.

As for today… I intended to take a little rest.

Incidentally, I went to check on the people I knew.

My gaze turned toward everyone on the experimental grounds.

At first glance, I saw Hong Chenyi, who was the most active.

Seeing that they were adapting well here, I didn’t worry too much.

Originally, I thought that because they were lower-grade students, they might be bullied by these somewhat proud seniors, but now it seems… the seniors in contact with them actually had quite a favorable impression of them.

“Big Sis Xiao Han you’re finished?”

Seeing me personally arrive at the experimental grounds, and even heading in their direction, Hong Chenyi was the first to notice me.

“Pretty much. How is your progress now?”

I asked in response to Hong Chenyi’s excited words.

These four people from the dorm hadn’t been separated according to the previous stage-based grouping.

According to their wishes, the four of them were listed as a separate group batch.

After all, they were lower-grade students, explained externally as a control group experiment for lower-grade students.

“Uh… this progress… actually…”

“It seems you’re still continuing to learn the Resonance Method?”

I lightly pulled up the information, and the data on it quickly jumped out.

“Uh… this… that…”

“It seems your progress is worrying. Quite a few high-year seniors have already begun touching upon the Micro-control Resonance Method. But it doesn’t matter; you’re still in the lower grades. Current data shows that the progress of Witchification only affects the expansion of progress to a certain extent.”

“I told you! My slow progress definitely isn’t because my talent is too low!”

“But you also need to put your heart into it! Have you already become lightheaded from the ten thousand Magic Power Sources?”

I reached out and tapped Hong Chenyi on the head to teach her a lesson.

The stage affected by Witchification progress was the structuring ritual; Hong Chenyi’s slow progress had little to do with that Witchification progress.

Although a significant reason for this was the issue of learning ability; the higher the grade, the more things one came into contact with, and the broader one’s experience and common sense.

These personal abilities could compensate for the gap brought by talent to a certain extent.

“Uh… sorry! Big Sis Xiao Han, I won’t do it again!”

“Stop acting pitiful. Efforts are for oneself. I came over this time mainly to tell you that I won’t be participating in this experiment anymore.”

“Eh? Why?”

Hong Chenyi’s eyes widened in disbelief.

“Did something happen? Or is it…”

“It’s not as complicated as you think.”

Seeing them appearing a bit agitated, I stopped keeping them in suspense.

“It’s simply that the matters I’m responsible for have basically been completed. I don’t intend to participate in the remaining experiments. I have another matter to attend to.”

“Are you that busy, Big Sis Xiao Han?”

“Am I busy? I don’t feel that way. Everything I do comes from my own will, so I won’t feel tired or feel busy. So, for the upcoming experiments, without my special care, you’ll have to work hard on your own.”

“Big Sis Xiao Han! I can’t bear to let you go!”

Hong Chenyi was almost ready to crawl on the ground and hug my calf while shouting at me.

As expected, Hong Chenyi was still the same out-of-tune Hong Chenyi as before.

“Get up! If you aren’t afraid of losing face, I still care about mine! You didn’t know to cherish me before, and now you know how good I am?”

Dongli Yiren stepped forward and grabbed the back of Hong Chenyi’s collar, pulling her up with a face full of disgust.

“Big Sis Xiao Han doesn’t have time to play house with you here.”

“I know…”

Hong Chenyi stood up, but her head was still lowered.

“That… Big Sis Xiao Han, actually, about that… there’s a reason why my progress is a bit slow.”

“Oh? A reason?”

I looked at Hong Chenyi.

Actually, if Hong Chenyi had just admitted her mistake and corrected her attitude, this matter would have passed.

I couldn’t be bothered to be overly strict with her.

But if she insisted on making up a reason to quibble, that wouldn’t be something to just gloss over.

“Let’s hear it.”

“Actually… I’m saying that this Resonance Method… might not be very suitable for me? And the Micro-control Resonance afterward is clearly just a patch for this method…”

“Speaking of which, Hong Chenyi, do you think you’re smarter than Big Sis Xiao Han and the others? It’s not suitable for you?”

Dongli Yiren complained from the side.

“Don’t be in a hurry. The Micro-control Resonance Method is indeed a patch for the Ten-fold Base Resonance Method.”

I reached out my hand to signal Dongli Yiren to stop.

“Its primary purpose is to better compensate for the fine manipulation of Magic Power Sources in the next step of this resonance method.”

“Right! That’s what I said!”

Hong Chenyi immediately said excitedly.

“Don’t be happy too soon. Thoughts are just thoughts. In the beginning, we didn’t have the technique known as the Ten-fold Base Resonance Method. At first, it was a more cumbersome unnamed connection interference method. Because it might have taken several years to complete the integration of ten thousand Magic Power Sources, the Resonance Method was born as a shortcut.”

I looked toward Hong Chenyi.

This fellow usually seemed out-of-tune; could she really bring about some kind of miraculous inspiration?

“So… Hong Chenyi.”

“Yes… Yes!”

Hong Chenyi immediately responded after I suddenly called her name.

“To be frank, we knew from the beginning that the Resonance Method wasn’t absolutely applicable to everyone. This is one of the reasons why we need a large amount of experimentation… Since you can independently produce the thought that this technique isn’t suitable for you, then you should have your own ideas too, right?”

“That… I indeed do…”

Hong Chenyi spoke somewhat hesitantly.

“But because I accidentally tried it once and interfered with the resonance relationship of the Magic Power Sources being resonated by the Resonance Method… I got scared and didn’t dare to try again…”

“You actually dared to try?”

I looked at Hong Chenyi with great interest.

Maybe Hong Chenyi actually did have her own merits?

For example… a leaping mind?

This was clearly a distinct difference from the others in the dorm.

Guan Qiuling and Dongli Yiren in the dorm were both relatively introverted.

Due to the gender transition, Dongli Yiren still had a sense of inferiority and self-denial.

Guan Qiuling had accepted it well but remained relatively introverted.

As for Yu Yetian… She belonged to the career-oriented type and was a typical good student in terms of studies.

“Uh… can I take that as you praising me, Big Sis Xiao Han?”

“Take it as a compliment then.”

I opened the Great Tree of Knowledge and sent a message in the laboratory group chat, saving me the trouble of calling them over directly.

“Now, I’ll give you a privilege. You can ignore the resonance connection of the Resonance Method and use your own way to try the solution you think is feasible. I’ll handle the other things you need to worry about, and I won’t ask about the delayed time and progress either. How about it?”

As I spoke, several sisters from the laboratory arrived beside me.

“Big Sis Xiao Han, what did you call us over for?”

“Oh, something happened here. She…”

I pointed at Hong Chenyi.

“She seems to have discovered a special method, a way of connection that’s different from our current interference method and resonance method. I want her to demonstrate it once; perhaps it will be a special discovery.”

“Tha… that… Big Sis Xiao Han! It’s just an idea; is there really a need for such a big production?!”

Hong Chenyi was clearly shocked by my actions.

The abnormality here also attracted the gazes of many other testers, appearing curious as to what had happened here to make so many experimental seniors rush over.

“Having ideas is a good thing. If you have inspiration, you should boldly put it into practice. Even if you try and fail in the end, what failed was only the attempt, not the inspiration.”

I looked at the currently nervous Hong Chenyi and spoke to comfort her.

“Eh?”

At this moment, Hong Chenyi’s eyes widened.

It wasn’t that she didn’t understand; she understood very well… and she strongly agreed with what I had said!

What failed was only the attempt, not the inspiration!
