Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

“So... does this count as an inspection by the Academy Head? I didn’t expect Academy Head Serina to be interested in the Self-generating Magic Power experiment too...”

I was also very shocked by this.

Even Academy Head Mei Linde had not reached the level of coming here in person.

However, even if she didn’t come personally, I still received the care from the Academy Head.

Not to mention that this laboratory was approved by the Academy Head, her concern was unconcealed whenever the Self-generating Magic Power project was mentioned previously.

She almost even had a Transcendent Witch work as an assistant for me.

It was just that the sudden arrival of Academy Head Serina Palitzer, who usually stayed out of sight, truly shocked me.

The last time I saw this Academy Head, she had been talked away by that Anti-Witch in the experimental area...

“To be precise, I am very interested in you. From the initial Domain Prototype, to the Seed of Great Knowledge, and now to Self-generating Magic Power, you have made me realize your value time and time again.”

Serina spoke bluntly, expressing her high regard without beating around the bush.

“This... regarding Self-generating Magic Power, this is also the result of everyone’s hard work. Their importance is also...”

“There is no need to be overly modest. Precisely because I also place great importance on this Self-generating Magic Power promotion project, I came here.”

Serina interrupted my overly modest words and moved the topic to the main point.

“My arrival shouldn’t affect your status, right? I only came to be an observer.”

“It’s fine, it won’t affect us, it won’t affect us.”

I said hurriedly.

However, it was obvious that although I was fine, others appeared significantly affected.

After all, this was the first time they had experienced an experiment with the Academy Head watching from the side.

Even if they were only doing side jobs like monitoring data, integrating information, and maintaining data.

An experiment that the Academy Head would personally come to observe was practically an honor, wasn’t it?

“My arrival was unavoidable. I hope it doesn’t bring you too much tension.”

Serina naturally saw her influence on these students.

Although helpless, as she said, it was unavoidable.

So, with a lift of her hand, a spell was silently cast.

Regarding this spell fluctuation, I noticed the anomaly immediately.

Soon, I felt a soothing power emerge within my heart.

With my experience, I quickly understood that this was a very rare Mind Spell.

Although I wasn’t clear on the specific spell, the effect was to calm the mind.

But possessing Heart Sense, I could easily resist this non-locked directional spell effect, or rather, I didn’t need this level of soothing at all.

“By the way, my arrival was due to various coincidences, so I encountered something on the way. It is meant for you; I am merely the messenger.”

Serina Palitzer spoke as she took out an exquisite small box and handed it over.

“Eh? For me?”

I looked at Academy Head Serina with some confusion.

When it was handed over, I saw a trace of Destiny Alchemy on it.

The moment I took it, it turned into invisible Destiny and dissipated.

“It seems you know what it is? Rest assured, I did not out of curiosity open it to see what was inside.”

“Mm, I roughly guessed what it is.”

I nodded and opened the box.

Inside was exactly that Transcendent item, the Misfortune Silver Coin, “Mocking the Incompetence of Fate”.

That was the name I had given it.

As expected, it was that Destiny Alchemist Trixie.

Of the Destiny Alchemists I knew, probably only this one was acquainted with me.

After studying the theoretical foundation of Destiny Alchemy, I could also see some things.

The meaning represented by that thread of Destiny that just dissipated, which interfered with fate, was “to deliver it into my hands in an absolutely safe manner”.

Sending it to me through the hands of Academy Head Serina Palitzer... this was truly “safe”!

I didn’t know if that witch Trixie knew that she had unintentionally made an Academy Head run an errand for her using Destiny Alchemy!

“It looks like a lucky coin, yet it has the aura of a Transcendent item? What an interesting little toy.”

Serina also spoke with some interest regarding this.

“Yes, it was originally a crude embryo of a lucky coin. Because of a small accident, it became a Transcendent item.”

Seeing Academy Head Serina was interested, I explained it to her.

“I see.”

Serina nodded and didn’t ask further.

“Since my business is finished, I am now an observer. You can start your tasks.”

“Mm.”

I nodded, then turned sideways, clapping my hands as I looked at everyone.

“Don’t just stand there dazed. Now that Yi Rui is back, we need to start on the serious business.”

As my voice sounded, Yi Rui walked over from Mentor Belica’s side.

Although she was also extremely shocked that the Academy Head would come, as the “second-in-command” of this team, she had to be worthy of the trust the other sisters placed in her.

What’s more, she had already made ample preparations.

Not only for the brand-new Construction Ritual, she had also made breakthrough progress in her self-research of the Architecture Ritual.

However, all of these progresses were based on one failed attempt after another.

Although she couldn’t achieve absolute success, she had given her all for it.

She still couldn’t understand the essence of this Architecture Ritual, but sometimes it was enough to know how to use it even if one couldn’t understand it.

While everyone else gathered their spirits to prepare for the big task, only my gaze remained on that box.

That is, this coin.

It seemed that the witch Trixie had finished her research, which was why she thought of returning it to me.

I also discovered a message left by a spell on this coin, and I quickly read the information through the Seed of Great Knowledge.

This information consisted of the characteristics of this Transcendent item that Trixie had summarized.

Allowing that witch to research it for so long meant that the characteristics of this coin were likely even more complex than the experiment of trying to guess numbers in that cafe back then.

And after reading the information, it was indeed so.

To be precise, the characteristic of this coin wasn’t about making a person choose an absolutely wrong choice; or rather, that description was neither accurate nor complete.

That was only one of the surface manifestations.

Therefore, Trixie used another experiment to corroborate this characteristic.

Instead of guessing numbers, it was guessing the final success or failure of something that hadn’t been done yet.

A very strange phenomenon would occur: the holder would have already given a predicted answer, but the fact had not yet happened.

So, would this matter succeed or fail?

With the characteristics of the Misfortune Silver Coin, if the coin’s result was predicted as success, then the thing that hadn’t been done yet should be a failure.

And when the holder confirmed the result of failure and reversed the coin to “change fate against the heavens,” the holder would suffer a punishment of misfortune.

The intensity of the punishment depended on the absolute probability of that matter succeeding.

The smaller the probability of the success one wanted to reverse, the greater the price that needed to be paid.

And the reverse was also true.

Whether one hoped for the matter to succeed or fail, it was one’s own choice.

If one did not choose to change or interfere, one would not suffer a backlash.

Therefore, the definition Trixie gave to this coin was... the holder pays the price of misfortune in exchange for the absolute probability of a matter.

Furthermore, there was no theoretical upper limit to this price of misfortune, or rather, its upper limit was taken from the limit of what the Destiny of the world the holder was in could interfere with.

After all, the probability interference of this Misfortune Silver Coin used the world’s Destiny as a medium.

If the matter interfered with exceeding the world’s limit, then this Transcendent item would also fail to be used.

Yes, it would also fail to be used!

But even if it failed, one would still need to bear the price of misfortune of an entire world’s limit.

I was suddenly a bit curious about what kind of experiment Trixie had conducted to be able to measure the limit of this characteristic.

Just thinking about it felt a bit terrifying.

Measuring the world’s limit as its upper limit...

Then... looking at it this way, this coin wasn’t actually that powerful.

At least a world couldn’t directly kill a Transcendent powerhouse.

After all, a world couldn’t sanction a Transcendent; at most, it would make everything go poorly for them.

However, regarding this, I thought of something else.

If the characteristic of the Misfortune Silver Coin was like this... then it seemed very suitable for use in probabilistic experiments?

This was even more heaven-defying than the “Ninglan’s Heart” that controlled Destiny!

Of course, if the price was underestimated, it would lead to a true death.

So... what kind of price would the probability of Yi Rui’s Self-generating Magic Power Architecture Ritual succeeding likely make me pay?

I looked at Yi Rui, who was currently in action.

This experiment was led by Yi Rui and the others themselves.

I would not interfere in the early stages, and the help I chose to give would be in the later Architecture Ritual stage.

Furthermore, it would be Yi Rui and I working together to architect the Self-generating Magic Power and bearing the risks together.

“Big Sis Xiao Han, are you still looking at your coin?”

At this time, a girl walked over and looked curiously at the coin I was playing with in my hand.

This girl was Cen Tan whom I was very familiar with, the one skilled in biological alchemy.

This time, because her specialty didn’t match, she was only responsible for basic data organization.

“Yes, this is a lucky coin. Want to guess if Yi Rui will succeed?”

I displayed the coin in my hand and asked with a smile.

“A lucky coin? Sure! Come, come let me guess!”

Cen Tan said with great interest.

“Choose a side and see if it’s success or failure?”

“Ah? Playing this big? What if...”

“It’s fine. Just take it as playing around.”

I soothed her.

“Then I’ll pick the Iris side. Big Sis Yi Rui matches the Iris side. What kind of flower is this? I don’t think I’ve seen it much.”

“An Iris, probably, or maybe some other flower.”

I said without caring much, then tossed it very casually.

“Quick, look, see if it’s the Iris side!”

Seeing the coin land in my palm, Cen Tan hurriedly asked.

“Mm...”

I opened my hand.

In my palm was the side engraved with the iris.

“It seems Yi Rui’s luck is quite good.”

“Hehe! I knew Big Sis Yi Rui’s luck definitely wasn’t bad! This time it’ll definitely be a success!”

“Mm-mm Go busy yourself.”

I beckoned for Cen Tan to leave as my gaze fell onto the coin.

Iris side, success.

It represented that Yi Rui would fail; there was no second choice!

This was the second characteristic summarized by the witch Trixie: when I anticipate success, the result is bound to be failure.

This was exactly the experiment we did in the cafe back then.

When Trixie wanted to guess correctly, she was wrong every time.

Therefore, when everyone who hoped for Yi Rui to succeed used it to predict, the surface result would all be success.

But actual events are bound to fail.

As long as no node in the entire matter transcends the world’s scope of interference, then Destiny will destined this experiment to fail.

And the only one who can change this outcome is me.

And I have two methods to change this outcome.

The first type is for me to completely master the technique of the Self-generating Magic Power Architecture Ritual, ensuring success.

In this way, I would break the “probability” of this matter, making the unpredictable choices invalid, so this matter would not be affected by the probability of this Misfortune Silver Coin.

It’s like betting on whether I can pick up a pen on the ground; if I already have the ability to pick it up, then interfering with the probability of success or failure will be meaningless.

However, I cannot counter probability with absolute success, so this method cannot be used.

And the second one……

I silently reversed this coin, letting the side with my silhouette lie flat on a table in the laboratory.

Blood-red Destiny rose from the corner of the silhouette’s mouth on that coin, as if revealing once more a mocking sneer at the manipulation of fate.

The second method is very simple: change the established outcome, bear the misfortune, fulfill the principle of equivalent exchange for using a Transcendent item, pay the price, and exchange it for success!

As for whether such success could still be considered an achievement Yi Rui obtained herself during this time……

I can only say that hard work doesn’t necessarily lead to success.

Since Yi Rui couldn’t achieve absolute success, she must be prepared for a situation where everything is lost.

Success is a reward for staged efforts, not a reward just for working halfway.

The reason why I made the interference so resolutely was because of the back-to-the-wall situation Yi Rui was facing; she couldn’t afford to fail, and as her friend, I was willing to help her.

Of course, there was also a rational side to my thinking, which was that if Yi Rui failed, I didn’t know how many days of depression it would take for her to recover, and I didn’t want to bear that accident.

And as for me bearing the cost of misfortune, at least I have means to deal with it; it doesn’t matter even if I am disabled or die.

In Trixie’s tests, the holder’s own abilities could likewise contend with the price of using a Transcendent item.

Just like the Ninglan’s Heart held by Ninglan Qiuyu; it took the flesh and blood of so many ordinary people for a person to drive Destiny, but if Ninglan Qiuyu used it herself, with her own strength, she alone could bear the flesh and blood required.

Even a Flesh and Blood Healing Spell could offset the price paid.

So I wasn’t doing it blindly.

No one saw what I had actually done.

Except for those two witches.

They didn’t say anything about my behavior.

Experiments were like this—success by any means necessary.

Although they didn’t know exactly what I had done, using a Transcendent item inevitably required paying a price.

“Xiao Han, are you okay?”

Mentor Belica stepped forward and asked meaningfully.

“Hmm? I’m fine for now.”

I shook my head and said with a smile.

Until the success was achieved, the price had not yet been realized.

Of course, it was also possible that it had already been realized but had not yet manifested.

Thinking of this, I subconsciously touched the collar on my neck.

It was given to me by the Academy Head and put on by Big Sis Bai’s own hands… used to suppress the Curse of Misfortune from the world after severing the Earth Vein Chains.

I wondered if this alchemical item could offset this kind of Curse of Misfortune for me?

“If anything happens, tell us at any time. Go ahead and do it boldly; the one watching from the side is an Academy Head of the Witch Academy.”
