Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 1288: Defeat The Soul Wraith Lord

Zhang Fei furrowed his brows upon hearing that. ’Do you believe that will be sufficient to fight the Soul Wraith Lord, Feng Yao?’

’Haha.’ Feng Yao laughed in Zhang Fei’s mind. ’Hey, you’ve borrowed the power of all the evil beasts in your space, your soul power was already high, and your speed also surpassed that demon’s. Try fighting it to prove my words, and you can ask them to distract those wandering evil souls.’

’Alright.’ Zhang Fei then spoke to the others. ”I want you guys to lure those wandering souls to other places, and I will face the Soul Wraith Lord myself.”

”Brother-in-law, you—”

”Trust me, okay?” Zhang Fei stopped Nalan Wangzi. ”Alright, move now.”

Nalan Wangzi let out a soft sigh before moving into the heart of the forest with the other three, and the wandering souls immediately chased after them as soon as they arrived in the vicinity.

The four women quickly dispersed into four different areas, while Jia Youming used her eye minions to lure more wandering evil souls in her direction. Zhang Fei’s four clones also moved to lure them, causing the soul around the Soul Wraith Lord to decrease significantly.

Zhang Fei saw the Soul Wraith Lord trying to summon other wandering evil souls, so he immediately moved to attack it.

*Roar*

The Soul Wraith Lord roared at Zhang Fei and used its Soul Dominion Ability, but unfortunately, it was useless against him as he countered it with his Demonic Force Manipulation.

Zhang Fei used the Darkness Corruption ability, which weakened the Soul Wraith Lord’s strength while simultaneously bolstering his own power. He also used the Demon Body ability, harnessing the power of his darkness to further enhance his strength, speed, and vitality.

The Soul Wraith Lord was furious because of that, and several soul chains shot out from its body before shooting towards Zhang Fei, but he countered them using his eternal flame, dispelling them.

*Roar*

The Soul Wraith Lord roared again, but this time it let out a roar of pain after Zhang Fei slashed its body with the demon extermination sword imbued with his light element.

Zhang Fei used his clone illusion steps, created ten illusion clones, and slashed the Soul Wraith Lord several times at his maximum speed. He also teleported several times when it attacked him with its strange abilities.

*Roar*

Zhang Fei suddenly sensed something unusual happening around him, and he immediately realized that the Soul Wraith Lord was using an illusion to trap him, but his Illusion Negation activated itself to dispel it.

”Hmm?” Zhang Fei raised an eyebrow when he saw a flame shoot out from the Soul Wraith Lord’s mouth, but he was familiar with it because he had the Soul Flame. Instead of dodging it, he absorbed its flame, even though it was no longer useful to him.

Zhang Fei became irritated when he saw the injuries he had inflicted on the Soul Wraith Lord quickly recovering on their own, and its body was intact again as before.

Zhang Fei wanted to use his strongest attacks to attack the Soul Wraith Lord, but the Nine-Petal Phantom Soul Lotus was right in front of it, and his attacks would damage the lotus.

[Master, bring your four clones here to attack the Soul Wraith Lord simultaneously. If you attack it alone, it will continue to recover due to the presence of wandering evil souls in this forest; therefore, you must use continuous attacks to prevent it from recovering.]

Without wasting any time, Zhang Fei brought his four clones to that area, and he kept attacking the Soul Wraith Lord while waiting for them to arrive. However, it suddenly roared again, and an army of lesser wraiths quickly emerged from the ground around that area.

”Sigh! This demon is truly troublesome!” Zhang Fei activated his ice domain, and it froze those lesser wraiths, but it had no effect on the Soul Wraith Lord. Thereafter, he activated his light and fire domains, eliminating them directly.

The Soul Wraith Lord became increasingly furious as all its attacks were ineffective against Zhang Fei, either countered or dispelled by him.

’Wasn’t your previous worry toward the Soul Wraith Lord unfounded?’ Feng Yao questioned Zhang Fei in his mind. ’You have strength, speed, and many abilities that can suppress it, but you act like you’re missing your past guts. In the past, you were braver than this, but you more or less changed after the incident with your cursed demon heart, and you became too cautious.’

Zhang Fei did not refute Feng Yao, as he had long realized his changes since the incident that day, and he became much more afraid of death than in the past. However, he had no other choice because there were too many people by his side who would be sad if he were injured or died, so he chose to be more careful than before.

As soon as Zhang Fei’s four clones arrived, five of them utilized their high speed to attack the Soul Wraith Lord, launching a barrage of attacks. Some used their light element, and the rest used their fire element with their eternal flame.

The Soul Wraith Lord tried to defend itself using its soul barrier, but their swift and powerful attacks, coupled with the support of their soul domains, instantly shattered its defenses.

Despite this, Zhang Fei and his four clones did not relax their attacks; Instead, they attacked the Soul Wraith Lord even faster, giving it no chance to counterattack.

*Roar*

Once again, the Soul Wraith Lord summoned the wandering evil souls, but Zhang Fei and his five clones immediately used their Exorcismus abilities at the same time. As soon as those countless light rays rained down from above, almost the entire area of the forest became brightly lit, followed by shrieks of wandering evil souls affected by their attacks.

Due to the relentless barrage of attacks from Zhang Fei and his four clones, the Soul Wraith Lord quickly faded as its regeneration ability was unable to keep up with the injuries they inflicted on him.

Zhang Fei took advantage of that to grab the Nine-Petal Phantom Soul Lotus, and he hurriedly stored it into the system inventory after he managed to pick it.

Noticing Zhang Fei’s actions, the Soul Wraith Lord let out a furious roar before using its final ability, which transformed its body into pure soul mist.

The Soul Wraith Lord attempted to possess Zhang Fei and his four clones, but they quickly used their eternal flames to surround themselves, preventing the possession and instead burning it.

After a long battle, Zhang Fei and his four clones managed to eliminate the Soul Wraith Lord, allowing them to breathe a sigh of relief. They swallowed several Qi Recovery Pills, as their previous attacks had drained a lot of their Qi, and the forest was still filled with wandering evil souls.

Zhang Fei immediately sat on the ground and allowed the demon extermination sword to absorb those wandering evil souls, but three of his four clones went to pick up Yao Qilin, Fei Lian, and Nalan Wangzi because they were trapped by those natural traps.

Zhang Fei didn’t worry about Jiu Yaoming in the slightest, and he asked her to return to his side after she cleared out the wandering evil souls that were previously chasing her.

Soon, the four female demons returned to Zhang Fei’s side, and he sent his four clones back to the training space immediately.

”Did you manage to obtain the Nine-Petal Phantom Soul Lotus, brother-in-law?”

”Yes.” Zhang Fei nodded to Nalan Wangzi as he rose to his feet. ”Our business in this forest is over now, and I was exhausted from facing the Soul Wraith Lord earlier, so we’ll return to your clan’s residence.”

”How did you defeat the Soul Wraith Lord, Master?” Fei Lian asked.

Yao Qilin was more curious about Zhang Fei’s strength. ”Please tell me how you managed to increase your strength to such a high level all of a sudden, Master.”

”Haha.” Zhang Fei laughed at that before opening a gate. ”Enter first, and we’ll talk about it while I rest.”

A while later, they arrived at Nalan Shizhe’s residence, and Nalan Wangzi immediately took them to the guest room. However, she didn’t join them and went to check on her mother’s condition.

Upon their arrival, Zhang Fei gave Jiu Yaoming several empty bottles and Qi Recovery Pills, asking her to fill them with her Yin Qi. She hurriedly sat down on an empty chair before starting to fill the bottle with her Yin Qi.

Fei Lian could only shake her head as she watched the female eye demon’s actions, but she knew that her Yin Qi was precious to Zhang Fei, and she was fortunate that he hadn’t ordered her to do such a shameful thing before.

”Hmm?” Fei Lian raised an eyebrow as Yao Qilin helped Zhang Fei take off his clothes. ”Have you dual cultivated with him, Qilin?”

Yao Qilin nodded slightly. ”I’ve dual cultivated with him repeatedly in the past six months, and I’m used to it now.”

”Huh?” Fei Lian was confused by that. ”How did you dual cultivate with him for six months? As I recall, we left the dungeon about a month and a half ago, right?”

”Haha.” Zhang Fei laughed at that. ”I told you before that there are many things you don’t know about me, but you’ll know everything soon because you’ll be living with me from now on, and you will help me to improve my cultivation.”
