Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 1264: Wan Jiang/Jia Xianzu Arrival

*Swoosh... Swoosh...*

The demon extermination sword flew back and forth, killing all the bloodthirsty demon beasts that stood in Zhang Fei’s path. Some of those that escaped the sword’s path died immediately upon entering the range of his sword domain.

Meanwhile, Nalan Wangzi’s soul eater sword moved to eat the souls of those bloodthirsty demon beasts that died due to Zhang Fei’s sword and sword domain.

”This is why I rarely use my Soul Eater Sword because I can’t control it. It always moves as it pleases when it sees many souls falling before it.” Nalan Wangzi helplessly spoke.

”Haha.” Zhang Fei laughed at that. ”It happened because you never tried to understand the spirit inside your sword, so it wasn’t willing to follow your orders. In my opinion, your sword spirit isn’t truly mature yet, and it’s still at a rebellious age. Unlike your sword spirits, my twin sword spirits were already mature, and they’ve always helped me ever since. After the Gang Zhishou taught me how to communicate with them, our relationship became closer.”

Nalan Wangzi turned to Zhang Fei. ”How can you communicate with your twin sword spirits? Even though I have become the master of my soul eater sword, my sword spirit has never been willing to reveal itself.”

”Just like other living beings, a spirit weapon has its own soul space, and its spirit resides within it. If your sword spirit is not willing to reveal itself to you, you must meet it inside there.” Zhang Fei then asked for the Demon Extermination Sword to be returned to him, but the Soul Eater Sword was unwilling to return when Nalan Wangzi asked it to. ”Hey, brat! If you dare disobey her order to return, I will dissolve you with my flames, and I will turn you into a lump of metal.”

The soul eater sword stopped flying and turned toward Zhang Fei, but it trembled as soon as he used his golden crow flame, making Nalan Wangzi smile in amusement.

”Come here!” Zhang Fei said in a commanding tone, and the Soul Eater Sword immediately flew in front of him like a docile creature. He immediately grabbed his hilt and rubbed the blade. ”You better not doubt my words, little brat. I’m a supreme-rank blacksmith, and my golden crow flame can melt everything. Or would you rather die and turn into a lump of metal?”

*Zing... Zing... Zing...*

The soul eater sword trembled even more when Zhang Fei channeled a bit of his golden crow flame into it, and its spirit immediately shot out from within.

Nalan Wangzi fell dumbstruck as soon as he saw the spirit of the soul eater sword because he was a boy around six years old. His body was completely black with two red eyes, two small horns on the top of his head, and a short tail behind his hips.

”Heh! As expected!”

”Big brother! Please don’t burn me or turn me into a lump of metal!” The boy begged Zhang Fei with teary eyes. ”I... I will definitely listen to my master’s orders.”

Zhang Fei shook his head slightly. ”What’s your name?”

”My... my creator gave me the name Hun Jian.”

”Hun from soul and Jian from sword, huh?” Zhang Fei channeled his soul power into Hun Jian’s body, startling him. ”If you don’t want to suffer, you must listen to her orders. Do you understand?”

”I understand, Big Brother.” Hun Jian nodded his head strongly before moving to Nalan Wangzi’s side and sitting on his shoulder. ”Master, please forgive me, okay? From now on, I will always listen and carry out your orders.”

Nalan Wangzi grabbed Hun Jian, brought him before her, and rubbed his head. ”It’s okay, you don’t need to remember the past. From now on, the two of us will work together to defeat our opponents, and my brother-in-law will help you to become stronger.”

”Yes, Master.” Hun Jian immediately entered the soul eater sword again and brought the sword floating to Nalan Wangzi’s side.

Nalan Wangzi felt relieved at this, and she gave Zhang Fei a soft kiss. ”Thank you.”

”Haha.” Zhang Fei laughed softly. ”Let’s continue; we must—hmm?”

”What happened?” Nalan Wangzi asked.

”Wait a minute.” Zhang Fei furrowed his brows. ”An underground river of pure blood essence, huh?”

Nalan Wangzi was surprised to hear that. ”Did you find an underground river in this forest?”

”Not me.” Zhang Fei shook his head slightly. ”According to someone, there is an underground river of pure blood essence that stretches from the Blood Sea to the heart of this forest, but that area is filled with countless wandering evil souls of those who died in this domain long ago.”

’Can that underground river take us to that place?’

’Not really.’ Zhang Fei released a soft sigh. ’According to her, the underground river can indeed reach that place, but that place is protected by something strong. She couldn’t see inside, so she couldn’t be sure whether the statue of the ten-tailed fox was there. The number of those wandering evil souls was too numerous, and they were too powerful. They would attack anyone who entered there at once, leaving me uncertain if my soul level was sufficient to confront them all at once. Your cultivation is indeed high, but your soul level is not yet as high as your cultivation, and you will definitely die if you enter there.’

Nalan Wangzi did not doubt Zhang Fei, as he was more experienced than her in the soul cultivation path. ’So, how are you going to get in there? Are you going to ask Hun Di and the others for help?’

Zhang Fei shook his head slightly. ’My master can help me fight those wandering evil souls because his soul level is high now, but my senior brothers and senior sisters are not yet capable of going in there. I can use my eternal flame to protect myself, but I still won’t be able to fight that many of them.’

’So, what are your plans now?’

’Hmm?’ Zhang Fei looked toward the heart of the Blood Forest. ’Let’s set aside the underground river for now, and we’ll try going to that area first. The Blood Tree King’s strength is strong, but I will meet it first, and I hope he’ll be willing to let me in. If he won’t let me in, I’ll find another way to get in. Furthermore, there is still one other problem that I have to think about a solution for, as it will bring big problems for us.’

’What kind of problem is that?’ Zhang Fei led Nalan Wangzi on their journey while telling her several things, especially about the process and phenomenon that might occur if he merged with one of the ten-tailed fox souls.

As before, Zhang Fei used his sword and soul domain to fight the bloodthirsty demon beasts, and the demon extermination sword continued to hover around the area, killing them.

After Zhang Fei threatened him, Hun Jian no longer dared to move as he pleased, and he allowed Nalan Wangzi to control the movements of the soul-eating sword. Every time she killed a bloodthirsty demon beast, her sword immediately consumed its soul.

Just like before, Shang Zhui was still following the two from a distance, but their previous conversation confused him, especially regarding Zhang Fei’s golden crow flame.

Normally, demons were afraid of this golden crow flame because it could incinerate them, but Zhang Fei possessed it. As an experienced demon, Shang Zhui was certain that he also possessed the golden crow bloodline; otherwise, he wouldn’t have used the golden flame.

Shang Zhui was also curious about how Zhang Fei was able to find the underground river of pure blood essence, including the identity of the woman who helped him find it. ”Does this kid really want to challenge the Blood Tree King? That old tree is truly powerful. I’ve challenged it several times, but it always defeated me in just a few attacks. Even Shang Zhanluo has never managed to defeat it with his current strength, let alone this kid. I hope he’s not reckless in challenging that old tree; otherwise, he will die in its hands.”

Meanwhile, Jia Xianzu had just arrived outside the Passion Moonlit Temple, and Zhang Fei [5] immediately met him before taking him to the sect. ”Are all your matters finished?”

”Yes.” Jia Xianzu nodded at Zhang Fei [5]. ”I just returned from the Emerald Bamboo Sect to inform Li Tianyu and Lan Yueru of my resignation from the sect.”

”That’s good.” Zhang Fei [5] then led him to the area where the natural races lived. ”Xun’er and Mei’er are going to other domains with some of my wives, as they still don’t know much about this realm. Since you are a fairy race, I will take you to them, and I hope you can help them to develop themselves.”

”Did you bring many fairy races from the Three Mortal Realms?”

”Not really.” Zhang Fei [5] shook his head slightly. ”There are too many natural races in the Three Mortal Realms, but I don’t know any of them. Most of them come from the Sky Jade Realm, the Nine Stars Realm, and the Sovereign Heaven Realms.”

Before long, they arrived at the fairy race’s residential area, and Zhang Fei introduced Jia Xianzu to them. The representative from the Sky Jade Realm was Zefyr’s grandfather, Oliver. The representative from the Nine Stars Realm was Lei Ting. Jia Yuyan represented the Sovereign Heaven Realm, but the old fairy already knew her.
