Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 1275: Ku Shenzu 1st Mentioned

Inside Zhang Fei’s soul world, three souls stood beside Nalan Ziyue’s coffin. ”What exactly are your plans for the female corpse inside, Hu Tianlang?”

Hu Tianlang shook his head at Yin Yue. ”As I told that kid before, I don’t have complete memories of my past, so I don’t remember my goal of preserving her corpse. He just needs to find all the pieces of my soul, and he will get my past memories then.”

”Even though I can’t recognize it, I’m sure this coffin is a special artifact, and you made it specifically for the female corpse.” Tian Taiyang spoke, observing the coffin.

”Yeah.” Hu Tianlang let out a soft sigh before looking away. ”I hope he can collect the rest of my soul as soon as possible, but he will have to face several dangers to get them, especially my wrath soul.”

”What exactly do those two fairies want to do?” Yin Yue asked, looking in another direction, where Jia Xianzu and Beiming Youhuang were cultivating.

Hu Tianlang answered her directly. ”The fairy race is nature’s closest friend, and they want to help that kid grow in this soul world. They can’t do it directly because they aren’t Luo Yunxiao, and they need to familiarize themselves with this soul world first.”

”I still can’t believe that your special physique didn’t fall into Zhang Fei’s possession, but instead, it fell into the possession of one of his wives.”

”Haha.” Hu Tianlang laughed at that. ”Everything that happens in our lives is predetermined by fate, and we can’t change anything. We can change some things through our hard work, but some things can never be changed, including my special physique choice of choosing Luo Yunxiao as its new master. Even though that kid doesn’t have my physique, she can help him in all his future battles, and no one can defeat them combined.”

Yin Yue let out a heavy sigh. ”Some people have the opportunity to change their destiny, but they are too stubborn to listen to the advice of others, and I am one of them. If—”

”It’s all in the past, so you don’t need to continue regretting your decision back then.” Hu Tianlang then looked at the two souls beside him. ”For now, you two just need to focus on strengthening your souls, and you can rebuild your two clans after you reshape your bodies.”

”Yeah.” After that, the three left the coffin and returned to their location, where Yin Yue and Tian Taiyang focused on cultivating their souls.

Once the forest was quite lit, Nalan Shizhe led Zhang Fei and her three children to continue their journey. The heart of the Wailing Soul Forest was far from their current location, and they still had to deal with naturally occurring traps in every area they passed. Furthermore, the wandering evil souls became stronger with each step they took.

Although the wandering evil souls weren’t a problem for them, especially with Nalan Shizhe by their side, those traps still presented them with some problems and hindered their journey, especially the misleading traps.

Zhang Fei, as usual, let the demon extermination sword roam freely, absorbing the wandering evil souls that obstructed their path. However, he wielded it when they crossed paths with stronger souls, and he used his soul domain to weaken them before the sword could absorb them.

Just like the demon extermination sword, Nalan Yushu moved actively to devour those wandering evil souls, and Nalan Huanzi protected her by her side because her cultivation was not as high as in the past.

Nalan Shizhe was surprised when Nalan Wangzi released her soul eater sword, and Hun Jian controlled the sword to eat those wandering evil souls. ”Since when did the sword obey you?”

”Hehe.” Nalan Wangzi giggled, pointing at Zhang Fei, who was fighting with the wandering evil souls in the distance. ”Two days ago in the Blood Forest, my brother-in-law forced the spirit out by force and threatened him with turning the sword into a lump of metal, which would destroy both of them. After all, he was a supreme-rank blacksmith, and it was easy for him to do that, which is why Hun Jian chose to obey me.”

Nalan Shizhe nodded in understanding as she looked at Zhang Fei. ”He possesses several identities and numerous abilities, and no cultivator like him has ever existed in the past. If he doesn’t act recklessly and continues to develop himself, he will definitely succeed in reaching the peak of cultivation one day in the future.”

”You’re right, mother.” Nalan Wangzi nodded in agreement. ”He is actually a cautious person, and he always plans everything in detail before executing it. However, he is still no different from us or other cultivators, and he still often makes careless mistakes.”

”Haha.” Nalan Shizhe laughed softly. ”If others dare to claim they’ve never made careless mistakes, then they’re utter hypocrites. Let alone Zhang Fei, even Long Wuzhao and I, who have lived for so long, still often make careless mistakes. Mistakes are part of our life, and we will unknowingly make them even with all the most careful planning. The most important thing is that we must take lessons from our mistakes, and we must improve ourselves so that we don’t repeat the same mistakes. However, many people are too hypocritical to see their own mistakes or correct them, and they would rather insult others for their mistakes.”

”Hypocrites are everywhere.” Nalan Wangzi turned to her mother. ”Was your decision about our father not a mistake?”

”No.” Nalan Shizhe denied it directly. ”Your father and I never loved each other, and I myself have no desire to have a husband by my side. Although I didn’t want to have a husband, I wanted to have children, and I chose him to be the father of my children, which he agreed to until the three of you were born.”

”What about now?”

Nalan Shizhe raised her eyebrows. ”Are you thinking of taking me to my son-in-law’s side?”

”Haha.” Nalan Wangzi laughed at that. ”Actually, Yushu and I discussed this matter some time ago, and we’ve considered several things before deciding on it. We want to see you live happier than you are now, but we know that we can’t force you.”

”Who told you that my life was unhappy?” Nalan Shizhe asked back while shaking her head. ”I’m no different from women in general, but I’m also different from them. Some women do need the presence of men in their lives, but I don’t need them. Since I was little, I’ve been used to relying on myself, and I managed to reach this level because of my own hard work. Therefore, I don’t need a husband by my side to love or help me, as I can do everything myself. Besides, I have the three of you by my side, and your presence always makes my life happy and complete. I will never be interested in having a husband, so you and Yushu should forget about that idea.”

Nalan Wangz didn’t say anything and sighed in her heart, but she didn’t want to give up, and she thought of some plans to entice her mother. ’I can’t do it alone, so I have to talk to my brother-in-law and Yushu about this matter later.’

While Zhang Fei was busy with those wandering evil souls, his other clones were preoccupied with the daily quests, but it wasn’t difficult for them to complete them.

With their busy activities in the forest, the day passed quickly, and it was already nightfall again. The entire forest area became too dark for them to continue their journey, so Nalan Shizhe asked them to rest first.

Like the previous day, Zhang Fei built a bonfire using his eternal flame, where he gathered with Nalan Shizhe and Nalan Huanzi. He sent Nalan Yushu and Nalan Wangzi to the training space, as the two women wanted to clean themselves.

Nalan Huanzi was curious about Zhang Fei’s training space, but Nalan Shizhe forbade him to ask anything, as the less people knew about his private space, the better for him.

”This forest is really wide, and there are too many traps in it. If you hadn’t led us, we would have been lost here, mother-in-law.”

Nalan Shizhe smiled upon hearing that. ”Actually, I once got lost in this forest when I was young because I forced myself to enter alone, and I almost died at the hands of those powerful wandering evil souls. Fortunately, the previous demon god saved me, so I’m still alive now.”

”What exactly happened to the previous soul-devouring demon god? Is she dead?” Zhang Fei curiously asked.

”The previous demon god is still alive now, but she no longer interferes in our race’s affairs, and she prefers to seclude herself in the Ten Hell Monarch Domain with several others.” Nalan Shizhe’s answer surprised Zhang Fei. ”Not many of the previous demon gods are still alive, only four to be exact. The other three are former demon gods of the Celestial Demon Race, the Seven Emotions Demon Race, and the Torture Demon Race.”

”Torture Demon Race?” Zhang Fei raised an eyebrow.

Nalah Shizhe nodded at him. ”The name ’Torture Demon Race’ is not their original race name; it was given to them by people because of their tendency to torture victims. I don’t know their original race name, but they are the vilest among the ten demon races. Their current demon god is Ku Shenzu, and he is the most disgusting among the ten demon gods.”
