Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 1276: Qian Yan 1st Mentioned

”How strong is Ku Shenzu, mother-in-law?”

”Would you believe me if I said that Ku Shenzu is the weakest among the ten demon gods?” Nalan Shizhe’s answer puzzled Zhang Fei, as some people had told him that Qi Qingxiu was the weakest among them. ”Qingxiu isn’t the weakest among us, but that disgusting man is the weakest. However, he has many terrible abilities, especially his torture domain. Not many of us can defeat him when he activates his domain; only Mo Shentian, Shang Zhanluo, Sha Mo, and Jiu Mozu dare to face him. I once tried to spar with him, but I couldn’t withstand his domain.”

Nalan Shizhe created a few qi screens, each of which showed the battle of several demon gods against Ku Shenzu in the past. She didn’t say anything else and let Zhang Fei watch all the fights herself, but she seriously observed his expression as she watched them. ’Oh? He remained calm even though he witnessed such fierce fights.’

Unlike Zhang Fei, Nalan Huanzi didn’t watch the other demon gods fight against Ku Shenzu. He wasn’t afraid of his actions, but he didn’t like seeing his disgusting appearance. ’Tch! I don’t understand how a disgusting creature like him can exist!’

”Hmm?” Zhang Fei frowned as soon as he saw Ku Shenzu activate his torture domain, which was filled with various types of torture tools. ”This guy really likes torturing his victims, huh? Furthermore, those tools move freely according to his wishes, and they can continue to pursue their targets.”

Nalan Shizhe pointed at one of the screens. ”Did you see that guillotine? The guillotine is Ku Shenzhu’s main weapon, and it’s a soul weapon. It will cut your soul straight through, but you won’t die from it; instead, your soul will break and split into pieces.”

”Hmm?” Zhang Fei frowned deeper. ”The soul is a fundamental part of living beings, even though we do not die if it attacks us. If our soul is damaged and split into several pieces, we will no longer be whole, and we will become like the living dead.”

”That’s right,” Nalan Shizhe replied with a nod. ”Apart from the guillotine, Ku Shenzu still has several other torture tools, and one of them is a whip. His whip is an ancient artifact, and it will cause all the injuries you have experienced in the past to resurface, even if they have already been fully recovered. I was once hit by it, and all my past injuries reappeared, which forced my predecessor to come out of her seclusion to protect our race until I recovered.”

”Such a terrifying artifact exists, huh?” Zhang Fei muttered under his breath.

”As you already know, the cultivation world has always been mysterious, and there are far too many secrets within it.” Zhang Fei nodded approvingly at Nalan Shizhe, who immediately dispelled those qi screens. ”Ku Shenzu’s torture domain and artifacts are indeed terrifying, but I don’t think they’re a significant problem for you. With your speed in bringing us to this forest yesterday, I can say that your speed surpasses most of the demon gods, and his speed pales in comparison to yours. Therefore, I’m sure you won’t face any significant difficulties if you fight with him, as he will never succeed in capturing you.”

”Haha.” Zhang Fei laughed awkwardly in response. ”Honestly, I’m afraid of dying, so I always focus on training my speed. Now I have many people by my side, and that makes me even more afraid of dying because it will make them sad. Then, what about the strength and abilities of the Thousand-Eyes Demon God?”

”The Thousand-Eyes Demon God, Qian Yan, is the only demon beast among the ten demon gods.” Nalan Shizhe created a qi screen, showing the figure of the demon god.

The Thousand-Eyes Demon God is a grotesque and majestic abomination of a demon beast. His massive, serpentine body stretches hundreds of meters long, covered in black scales. Thousand eyes sprout from his shoulders, back, and tail. Each eye has a different color, shape, and size. His main head bears a gaping maw filled with jagged teeth and a single colossal eye on his forehead. His ten limbs end in clawed, chitinous talons.

Zhang Fei took a deep breath as soon as he saw Qian Yan’s demon beast form. ”This guy is the most terrifying demon beast I have ever seen, and his thousand eyes make him even more terrifying. Unfortunately, his body is simply too big, so I’m sure his speed is very slow when he uses his beast form.”

”Qian Yan is indeed the slowest among all the demon gods, whether he uses his human or demon form. However, his attack power is one of the greatest, and his movements can cause earthquakes and various other disasters.” Zhang Fei seriously observed the eyes one by one, and he frowned when he realized something, prompting Nalan Shizhe to explain some things about their abilities. ”Compared to all the eyes on his body, you should be more worried about the colossal eye on his forehead, as it has various abilities.”

”What is one of his middle eye’s abilities, mother-in-law?”

”Qian Yan can see through space.” Zhang Fei turned to Nalan Shizhe directly. ”I don’t know where you get your private space or how it works, but you should never open it when he’s around. Once he finds your private space, he can track your whereabouts forever, and you will never hide from him again. The worst thing is that he can still attack you with his other eye abilities, even when you hide in your private space. You must be aware of the risks if that happens, right?”

”Yes.” Zhang Fei nodded with a solemn expression. ”So, Qian Yan can only find my space if he has seen it once, right?”

”Yes,” Nalan Shizhe then told him something else. ”Qian Yan’s middle eye also has the ability to absorb the souls of any living creatures that directly look into it when activated, so you should avoid making direct eye contact with his middle eye. When he uses that ability, his middle eye will turn ash-black, so you’ll know when he’s about to use it. I have no information about the other abilities of his middle eye, so I can only tell you this much.”

Zhang Fei nodded with a heavy sigh. ”He is worthy of the title of demon god, as his middle eye’s abilities are simply terrifying, and he also has great strength thanks to his massive body.”

”Even though he is terrifying, Qian Yan rarely attacks other living beings, but he is also a vengeful one. If other living beings attack his race, he will hunt them down until he kills them.” Nalan Shizhe suddenly remembered something. ”Zhang Fei, you still have to be careful of him, as he has connections with the four perils.”

Zhang Fei wasn’t too surprised about that, as demon beasts were no different from other beasts, and the four perils were immortal beasts, so they could easily subdue Qian Yan. ”If he has a relationship with them, why doesn’t Mo Shentian use him to build a relationship with them? Wouldn’t it be easier for him if he used him?”

”They never got along with each other, and the two of them were like mortal enemies.” Zhang Fei was surprised to hear that from Nalan Shizhe. ”Mo Shentian is the strongest, and he also has the ability to bend reality. But Qian Yan is no pushover, and his middle eye can counter his ability.”

”So, Mo Shentian has tried to subdue Qian Yan before?”

Nalan Shizhe nodded slightly. ”Mo Shentian’s ambition to unite all the demon races under him has been long-standing, and he has attacked all of us before. He killed many of Qian Yan’s race members, but he never succeeded in subduing him, and they have become mortal enemies since then.”

”I see.” Zhang Fei nodded in understanding. ”Although Qian Yan is weaker than Mo Shentian, he has many advantages, especially with his middle eye abilities. What about the Lust Demon Race, Mother-in-law?”

Shang Shizhe shook her head. ”I’ve never had any contact with them, so I don’t know much about their abilities. Their leaders are Xie Yao and Xie Yan, and both of them are demon gods like me. Since you are a lust demon yourself, you shouldn’t have any problems when dealing with them, even though your cultivation and demon rank are below theirs.”

”I hope so.” Zhang Fei then opened the portal to the training space, allowing Nalan Yushu and Nalan Wangzi to come out of it.

After that, they discussed a few other things, but Zhang Fei asked Nalan Shizhe the most questions, especially since she was a demon god and had much more experience than him.

As soon as the sun rose, Nalan Shizhe led Zhang Fei and the others on their way. However, their journey became increasingly difficult due to the presence of the stronger wandering evil souls, coupled with far more deadly traps in the forest.

Nalan Shizhe even had to constantly help them keep those wandering evil souls at bay; otherwise, they would attack Zhang Fei and her three children.
