Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 1263: Blood Forest

In their palace, Shang Zhanluo listened to Shang Luohu’s report on Zhang Fei’s ability to defeat three of the five Asura Guardians, which shocked him.

Shang Zhanluo truly did not expect Zhang Fei to be able to match two of them and only narrowly lose to one. Although they fought without their cultivation or full strength, he felt that his feat was truly impressive, and no cultivator at his level could accomplish such a feat.

”I gave him permission to enter the Blood Forest.” Shang Zhanluo looked at Shan Luohu with a frown. ”There aren’t any secrets in the forest, and he just wanted to hone his fighting skills, so I let him go there.”

Shang Zhanluo had no problem with that, but he felt that Zhang Fei would not be able to face those bloodthirsty beasts. ”Are you sure Zhang Xiaolong won’t die there? Where is Shang Xiuluo now? What about that female demon? Have you found out her true identity?”

”I don’t know whether Zhang Xiaolong will die or not, but it was his wish, so let him bear the consequences. As for Shang Xiuluo, the Slaughter Blood Phantom brought him to the bottom of the lake, but I don’t know the reason behind it. By the way, he no longer wants to use his past name, and he prefers to be called Tian Shuixiang.” Shang Zhanluo raised an eyebrow for a moment, but he quickly ignored it, and Shang Luohu informed him of something else. ”I can’t reveal the identity of that female demon because I don’t know how she concealed her true face and aura, but I think she used a special artifact to do so.”

”Forget it then.” Shang Zhanluo then let out a soft sigh. ”I don’t have time to deal with those people, and I’m thinking of going to the Ten Thousand Beast Grave Domain myself, as I don’t believe that Shang Hongyan and Shang Liang will be able to do their tasks. If Mo Shentian manages to find Wu Mian’s real body, our asura demon race will be doomed, and I won’t let that happen.”

Shang Luohu was surprised by Shang Zhanluo’s sudden decision. ”Are you sure you want to do that? If Mo Shentian finds out that you’re intentionally following him, he might turn against you, and our asura demon race will be in jeopardy if anything bad happens to you.”

”Aren’t you looking down on me too much?” Shang Zhanlu shook his head in response. ”If Mo Shentian can defeat me, do you think he will restrain himself from attacking us?”

Shang Luohuo felt helpless upon hearing that. ”Alright, I won’t stop you if you insist on going to that domain, but you better be careful because the four perils are stronger than all the demon races.”

”I know.” Shang Zhanluo disappeared instantly.

Shang Luohuo immediately went to rest, but he continued to wonder about Zhang Fei’s true identity because there had never been a transcendent lust demon with nine tails like him.

Early in the morning, Zhang Fei brought Nalan Wangzi to the entrance of the Blood Forest and immediately showed the guard there the token that Shang Luohu had given him yesterday.

The guard was a little surprised by Zhang Fei’s identity, but he didn’t stop him because of Shang Luohu’s token.

Not long after Zhang Fei and Nalan Wangzi entered the Blood Forest, Shang Zhui appeared in front of the entrance, and he immediately followed them according to Shang Luohu’s request.

The Blood Forest stretched across the Slaughter Blood Domain, and no ordinary tree could survive there. Its towering trunks were made not of wood, but of crimson bone-like bark, and its leaves dripped with blood instead of dew. It is said that each tree is nourished by the essence of countless fallen warriors, their blood seeping into its roots until the forest itself is filled with their hatred.

The air was filled with a mist of blood, so thick it stuck to the skin like armor, yet corroded the souls of any living creature who entered it. Whispers drifted through the mist—echoes of slaughtered lives, cries, laughter, and screams all at once, maddening intruders who dare trespass. The ground pulsed faintly and carried the life essence of the dead.

The beasts and trees born here were unique, and they were fused with the bloodlust of the living creatures that died within. Some trees uprooted themselves to hunt intruders, and their roots became blood-drenched tendrils. Others sprout Blood Flowers, releasing intoxicating scents to lure victims before devouring them whole. Legends say that a colossal ancient tree lived within the Blood Forest, and each of its branches harbored the spirits of asura demons who died in the past.

The Asura Demon Race regarded the Blood Forest as a trial ground, and young demons who sought strength were cast into its depths. If they survived the whispers, the mist, and the beasts, their bloodline awakened to greater slaughter intent. If they fail, their essence becomes nourishment for the forest.

At the heart of the forest lies an underground river of pure blood essence that feeds the entire land, and many believed it directly connects to the Blood Sea.

[Master, Shang Zhui has also entered this forest, and he is monitoring you two from afar.]

’I’m sure Shang Zhanluo or Shang Luohu sent Shang Zhui to monitor us. Since he is Tian Shuixiang’s father, and he clearly chose to side with us, we don’t need to worry about him.’ Zhang Fei then released his soul domain and summoned the demon extermination sword, followed by Nalan Wangzi, who also summoned her sword. ”Oh? Your sword is also a spirit weapon, huh?”

”Haha.” Nalan Wangzi showed her grey sword to Zhang Fei. ”This soul eater sword was a gift from my grandfather, but I rarely use it, as its spirit is difficult to control. Since Shang Luohu will recognize me if I use my main weapon, I will use this sword for now. By the way, I’ve heard that there is an ancient colossal tree living in this Blood Forest, and the asura demon race called it the Blood Tree King.”

”The Blood Tree King, huh?” Zhang Fei immediately checked the Blood Forest area through the map, finding the tree living in the heart of the forest, which was still far from their location. Additionally, he saw countless red dots on the map, indicating that all creatures living in the forest were hostile.

However, Zhang Fei was confused because the red dots were divided into three bright categories, and such a thing had never happened before. ’What happened to the map, Mei? Why do these red dots have three different colors?’

[I can’t say for sure, Master. However, I think the dimmer red indicates weak enemies, and the brighter red indicates strong enemies, especially since the name of the Blood Tree King is also marked by the brighter red. Master, the statue of the ten-tailed fox is hidden underground, precisely under that ancient tree.]

’Fuck!’ Zhang Fei inwardly cursed, as the Blood Tree King was definitely not weak. His main purpose in coming to the Slaughter Blood Domain was to look for the statue of the ten-tailed fox, but it was actually hidden under such a powerful creature. ’Can you scan the power of that ancient tree, Mei?’

[Master, the Blood Tree King’s strength is equivalent to Long Wuzhao’s in the Celestial God Realm, and its demon rank is also at the Demon God Rank.]

’Holy fudge!’ Zhang Fei inwardly shouted. ’How can I defeat that tree if it’s as powerful as Long Wuzhao!? Do you think Bing Xingying can open a void crack to get in there?’

[Master, the only way is to ask Bing Xingying to try it first, and you will know the result later.]

*Tap*

Nalan Wangzi patted Zhang Fei’s shoulder. ”What happened? Why is your expression so strange? Is there something bothering you?”

”Yeah.” Zhang Fei used telepathy to tell Nalan Wangzi about the location of the statue of the ten-tailed fox. ”Forget it! Let’s go there first.”

”Alright.” Nalan Wangzi followed behind Zhang Fei, but several bloodthirsty beasts suddenly attacked them. Fortunately, all the beasts in the outer perimeter of the forest weren’t too strong, and the two of them were able to kill them without much difficulty.

In the distance, Shang Zhui noticed the demon extermination sword in Zhang Fei’s hand. ”This kid is truly mysterious! He’s a demon, but he wields a sword specifically created for slaying demons. Furthermore, his sword is clearly a spirit weapon, but I can sense two different auras from it, which means it has two souls. What exactly is his purpose in coming to this forest? I don’t believe he came here to train, and I’m sure he has other goals. However, I’ve explored every area of this forest thousands of times in the past, but I’ve never found anything interesting here.”

Shang Zhui immediately moved to follow Zhang Fei and Nalan Wangzi, but the two of them went into an area filled with bloodthirsty beasts, which made him even more confused about their purpose in going to the forest.

Zhang Fei’s primary goal in coming to the Blood Forest was to find the statue of the ten-tailed fox, but he also wanted to train there. Furthermore, he didn’t yet have a solution to defeat the Blood Tree King, and he was still waiting for Bing Xingying’s true body to inspect the heart of the forest through the void, so he didn’t rush to go there.
