Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 1279: The Soul Creature

Nalan Shizhe was already not far from the location of the soul vortex, and five elders of the soul-devouring race were standing behind her. ”Have you evacuated the members of our race who live in this area?”

”As soon as this soul vortex formed, they already realized that the creature would appear soon, so they hurriedly fled this area.” A male demon answered her.

”That’s good.” Nalan Shizhe exhaled with a sense of relief. ”All of you must prepare, as the creature this time will likely be stronger than the last one. If that is true, the battle this time will be even tougher, and the impact will probably change the situation in our domain forever.”

”We are waiting for your signal, Demon God.”

Nalan Shizhe nodded to them before turning his head to the side with a frown, as did those elders. Soon, Zhang Fei [1] arrived at their side. ”Why did you come here?”

”I was curious about the creature, so I decided to come here, mother-in-law.” The five elders were stunned by the way Zhang Fei addressed Nalan Shizhe, as they knew that Nalan Wangzi was not married yet, and they also did not know that Nalan Yushu had returned.

”You—”

”Who is this young demon, Demon God? Why did he address you as his mother-in-law?” A female elder curiously asked while maintaining a respectful attitude.

”His name is Zhang Fei, and he is indeed my son-in-law.” Nalan Shizhe’s revelation further confused the five elders. ”He’s not Wangzi’s husband but Yushu’s.”

”What?” The five elders exclaimed in shock. ”Is the second princess really back, Demon God?”

Nalan Shizhe confirmed that with a nod. ”Zhang Fei freed her soul from the Star Tower and helped her to reshape her body, and they have been husband and wife ever since.”

Hearing that, the five elders looked at Zhang Fei [1] before cupping their hands to him. ”Thank you for freeing our second princess from the Star Tower and helping her reshape her body, Prince. We—”

”No need.” Zhang Fei [1] stopped them, but he also felt a little strange hearing them address him as their prince. ”Honestly, I accidentally met Yushu, and I freed her from the tower for some reason. However, our relationship gradually changed, and she is my wife now. Even though I am her husband, I hope you guys stop addressing me as a prince, as I’m not used to that. Instead, you can address me with something else.”

Naturally, the five elders did not dare to do that because Zhang Fei [1] was their second princess’s husband, so they turned to Nalan Shizhe, who nodded to them. ”In that case, we will address you as a young master from now on.”

”That’s good.” Zhang Fei [1] nodded in satisfaction and then asked Nalan Shizhe. ”How long until the creature appears, mother-in-law?”

Nalan Shizhe pointed to the soul vortex. ”These evil souls are starting to merge into one, and the creature will appear once the vortex disappears.”

”Hmm?” Zhang Fei [1] looked at the vortex with a frown. ”Can’t we stop these evil souls before they finish merging?”

”Look at this.” Nalan Shizhe flicked her finger forward, and a sizable darkness ball shot towards the vortex, but it disappeared before it reached the vortex. ”There is an invisible barrier that surrounds the vortex, and it instantly dispels my attack.”

The five elders were shocked when Zhang Fei [1] activated his soul domain and spread it towards the soul vortex, but his gaze only focused on the vortex, and he took out the abyssal demon halberd as his real body using the demon extermination sword.

”What are you going to do?” Nalan Shizhe asked with raised eyebrows.

”Mother-in-law, you can’t see that invisible barrier, but I can see it clearly.” The five elders shifted back and stared at Zhang Fei [1] in shock as he used his light element, as no demon had it. ”Let me show it to you.”

Even though he was using a halberd, Zhang Fei [1] slashed it like he was holding a sword, and a crescent sword qi mixed with his light element hurtled towards the vortex.

Nalan Shizhe watched Zhang Fei [1]’s attack with a serious look. To her shock, his attack did not disappear; instead, she and the five elders heard a screeching voice full of pain.

*Screee*

Soon, a giant bloody red eye appeared right in front of the vortex, and there were two soul wings on both sides, which shocked Nalan Shizhe and the five elders.

”Eye demon!” One of the elders shouted.

”Demon god!”

The eye demon immediately flew away, but Nalan Shizhe hurriedly flew to chase after it. She made several gestures with her hands, and a giant mouth full of sharp teeth appeared in front of the eye demon and devoured it instantly.

Thereafter, Nalan Shizhe returned to Zhang Fei [1]’s side again. ”I never expected that the Jiu Mozu would infiltrate one of his men into my domain, which means he already knows about you now.”

”It’s okay; sooner or later, I will also meet him, as one of his subordinates is in my hands now.” Nalan Shizhe turned to Zhang Fei [1], who immediately put away the halberd. ”I managed to capture Ma Youling some time ago, and she was one of the nine demons beside him. Even though he learned about me from the eye demon moments ago, I didn’t reveal my true form, ensuring that he would never be able to find me. Since there’s no one else blocking us, then—”

”Too late.” Nalan Shizhe pointed to the soul vortex that was beginning to dissipate. ”The creature will appear soon, and its strength is clearly higher than last time. Therefore, you should go now, and we will handle it, or you will die if it targets you.”

After saying that, Nalan Shizhe immediately led the five elders to fly into the sky, and they surrounded the area while using their abilities, creating a barrier to isolate it.

Zhang Fei [1] did not leave immediately, but he entered an invisible state and flew a little away to monitor the situation.

Soon, the vortex completely disappeared, but a soul creature that looked more like a grey three-horned behemoth appeared there before attacking Nalan Shizhe and the others.

Nalan Shizhe attempted to block the soul creature’s attack, but its attack pushed her back. The five elders immediately moved to help her, but they were also blown away by the soul attack released by the creature.

’What about the creature’s strength, Mei?’

[Master, that creature’s strength is equivalent to Nalan Shizhe in the 3-Sun Celestial Venerable, but its soul power is far below yours, around the saint soul level rank. Therefore, you can attack it using soul attacks, but you should not get too close to it. I suggest you bring all your clones here, and all of you attack it in unison.]

Zhang Fei [1] immediately agreed with Mei and summoned his other three clones, as his fourth clone was still at the bottom of the Blood Sea to monitor Tian Shuixiang’s situation. All of them immediately used the reversal mirror technique they learned from Shang Ziyuan, and they summoned five different mirrors.

Zhang Fei [5] didn’t move from his spot and held the hilt of the Sky-Severing Sword, which he borrowed from Xian Xianqin. ”Ling, I know I’m not your master, but I need your help to get rid of that soul creature.”

”Hmm?” Ling, the spirit of the Sky-Severing Sword, immediately emerged from within the sword. ”Heh! That soul creature is indeed powerful, but it’s far too weak compared to the one my creator faced in the past.”

”Oh?” Zhang Fei [5] was surprised a bit.

”All living creatures in our era are much stronger than those from this era; not even those people from the ancient era can fight them.” Zhang Fei [5] became increasingly curious about the identities of Ling and Tiankong Changqiong. ”You are right; my creator was one of the primordials, but he died long ago. Just like him, Tian Huangjin was once a primordial, and he was the first ancestor of the winged race. Used the last sub-technique of the Heaven-Severing Sword Technique now, and you will understand my true power.”

”Alright.” Zhang Fei [5] activated his sword qi and light qi simultaneously before channeling them into the Sky-Severing Sword. Soon, a golden sword appeared above him, but its size was not as large as when he used it in the Moon Illusion Domain. ”Is it enough to attack that soul creature?”

”Hmm?” Ling looked up at the golden sword before nodding. ”I think it’s enough since you will use my sword, so you can attack that soul creature now. Attack it now!”

”Alright.” Zhang Fei [5] first signaled Nalan Shizhe and the others to move away before slashing the Sky-Severing Sword forward. ”Final move: Sever the Heavenly Path!”

Not far from the creature, the other clones were already holding their respective weapons, and they immediately used the last sub-technique of the Forgotten Sword Technique.

The golden sword quickly rushed towards the soul creature, followed by four flurries of petals, formed from sword intent, that bloomed from nothing.

”Move! You will be affected by those attacks!” Nalan Shizhe shouted as she flew away, followed by the five elders of the soul-devouring race.

The soul creature wanted to chase them, but one of the flurries of petals directly hit its body, causing it to release a loud roar that attacked the soul.

*Roar*
