Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 1257: Shang Zhui’s Explanation

”Why don’t you undo your disguise, little girl?” Shang Zhui asked Nalan Wangzi once they arrived at a room. ”Not even my emperor can peek into this place, so you don’t have to worry about him discovering your identity.”

”Hehe.” Nalan Wangzi chuckled and removed her artifact, revealing her true face. ”Do you recognize me now, Uncle Zhui?”

Shang Zhui nodded slightly. ”I didn’t expect it to be you, Little Wangzi. How did you end up with my son and that young demon?”

”That young demon is my brother-in-law, and he sent your son back to this realm several years ago.” Nalan Wangzi’s confession took Shang Zhui aback. ”I’m telling you this because of your good relationship with my father, so I hope you don’t mention this matter to anyone, including Shang Zhanluo.”

”I know.” Shang Zhui then asked Nalan Wangzi. ”Does that mean that the young demon has freed Little Yushu from the Star Tower?”

”Yes.” Nalan Wangzi nodded at Shang Zhui. ”He not only freed my sister’s soul from the tower, but he also helped her reshape her body, and they are husband and wife now.”

”I see.” Shang Zhui’s expression looked relieved after hearing the news about Nalan Yushu. ”You must tell Little Yuzhu to continue staying in hiding and never appear in public, or Mo Shentian will come after her if he finds out she’s back.”

”Yushu was aware of the matter, and my brother-in-law was not stupid, so he would never bring her into public view.” Nalan Wangzi then asked Shang Zhui. ”What exactly does Mo Shentian want from my sister? Why is he so eager to get her? According to my brother-in-law, there’s nothing special about her, which confuses me.”

”Do you really think that Mo Shentian targeted Little Yushu because she was special?” Nalan Zhui’s question made Nalan Wangzi raise an eyebrow.

Tian Shuixiang directly spoke to Nalan Wangzi. ”Mo Shentian doesn’t care whether Nalan Yushu is special or not, and he targeted her because your mother loves you both so much. Currently, you are Mo Taizi’s fiancée, and he will gain complete control over your mother if your little sister also falls into his hands.”

”I see.” Nalan Wangzi nodded in understanding before asking Nalan Zhui again. ”Is that also what happened with your race? Shang Xueli and Mo Zixiao’s marriage is still confusing to everyone, as it happened all of a sudden without any prior warning.”

”You are lucky because Mo Taizi is different from his big brother, and he never forced you to marry him.” Shang Zhui’s words did not surprise Nalan Wangzi because she was familiar with the three princes of the Celestial Demon Race. ”We didn’t reveal the details of their marriage to the public because it would be a shame for our asura demon race, but Mo Zixiao used underhanded means to obtain my princess. Since everything has happened, we have no other choice but to hand her over to Mo Shentian, and you already know the rest of the story. Currently, only Mo Taiqi is still single, and his father has already prepared him to be Little Yushu’s husband.”

Nalan Wangzi helplessly shook her head. ”In the past, I heard that Mo Shentian wanted to marry Mo Taiqi to Ye Nichang, but the latter married in secret. Unfortunately, Aunt Mingran had no other daughters, and the other demon gods had no daughters.”

”That’s right.” Shang Zhui nodded at her. ”Even though Little Yushu previously died, Mo Shentian never forgot his idea. He forced your mother to hand you over to Mo Taizi in exchange for your little sister, and he forced Mo Taiqi to remain single until her soul was free from the tower and reshaped her body.”

”Hahaha.” Nalan Wangzi laughed softly after hearing that. ”Unfortunately, Mo Shentian’s plans for Yushu have failed because she belongs to my brother-in-law now, and he is the most possessive man I have ever met. His strength is still far below yours or all the demon gods, but no one can underestimate him, and those who do will die in regret.”

Shang Zhui seemed confused by Nalan Wangzi’s confidence in Zhang Fei, and he looked at his son, but Tian Shuixiang also showed the same expression. ”Are you two that confident in that young demon?”

”Father, I’ve witnessed many of his actions in the Three Mortal Realms, and he’s not as simple as you think. I can’t tell you too much detail about him, but I can say that Shang Zhanluo’s decision not to attack him was the best decision he ever made in his life.” Shang Zhui was shocked to learn that Zhang Fei came from the Three Mortal Realms and only ascended to the Paradise Realm a few years ago, but he knew that Tian Shuixiang had never boasted or lied to him. ”He’s only been cultivating for about 23 or 24 years, but he’s already reached the Celestial Lord Realm, so—”

Shang Zhui immediately shouted. ”Are you kidding me? Has that young demon truly been cultivating for such a short period?”

”I’m not lying to you, Father.” Tian Shuixiang then told Shang Zhui some things regarding Zhang Fei’s actions in the upper realms of the Three Mortal Realms, which perplexed him. ”He is an alchemy god like me; he is also the youngest swordmaster to reach the god-rank in swordsmanship, and he still has skills in various other fields.”

”Eh?” Shang Zhui looked at Tian Shuixiang with surprise. ”Are you really an alchemy god now? When did you learn alchemy?”

Tian Shuixiang rubbed his head. ”I started learning alchemy after I took my wife to escape to the Three Mortal Realms, and I learned it for thousands of years until I reached that rank.”

”Where is Zhiye now? Why didn’t you bring her here?” Shang Zhui questioned him.

”She—”

Nalan Wangzi immediately stopped Tian Shuixiang before speaking to Shang Zhui. ”Uncle Zhui, I don’t know anything about the matters between your Asura Demon Race and the Eternal Night Demon Race in the past, but I think it’s time to clear things up because we will be facing the same enemy soon. Currently, Mo Shentian is looking for the real body of the Faceless Demon God, and you definitely know the risks if he succeeds in finding him and capturing him.”

”Honestly, I’ve heard about that matter, and I’ve tried to find the hiding place of Wu Mian’s real body, but he hid it too neatly.” Shang Zhui then told them about the problems between the two demon races. ”Not many people know that Ye Futian had two daughters, and his first daughter died at Shang Yuheng’s hands. That fool killed his first daughter and other family members, which worsened the already strained relationship between the two demon races.”

”I already knew about Shang Yuheng’s actions from my wife, but I never knew about the strained relationship between the two demon races.” Tian Shuixiang spoke.

”Me too.” Nalan Wangzi nodded slightly. ”I asked my mother about the issues between the two demon races, but she was never willing to explain it to me, and she forbade me from asking about it.”

Shang Zhui released a heavy sigh. ”The conflict between the two races started with the dispute between the former Asura Demon God and the former Eternal Night Demon God, but I am uncertain about the details of what transpired between them at that time. Since then, the two demon races have been at odds, and Shang Yuheng’s actions worsened our relationship. Therefore, the two demon races were never willing to establish a relationship with each other, but you and Ye Zhiye broke it.”

”Father—”

”Forget it.” Shang Zhui waved his hand to stop Tian Shuixiang. ”I’ve been thinking about this matter since the two of you ran away, Xiuluo. If I still had objections to the relationship between the two of you, we wouldn’t be standing and talking here now, and I would have captured you a long time ago.”

”So—”

”Yeah.” Shang Zhui then patted Tian Shuixiang’s shoulder. ”The dispute between the two demon races is the responsibility of seniors like me, and we shouldn’t burden our younger generations with that responsibility. Since you’re already happy with Ye Zhiye, I won’t say anything more about your relationship with her. Instead, I hope the relationship between you two will bring a better future for both demon races, and I hope you guys will end the enmity between us in the future.”

Tian Shuixiang let out a soft sigh before hugging Shang Zhui. ”Thank you, Father. I can’t promise you that we will succeed in reconciling the two demon races, but we will definitely try to do it, and the younger generations of both races will never have to suffer as we have.”

”I hope you two will succeed.”

*Clasped*

Nalan Wangzi clasped her hands. ”Isn’t this great, Xiuluo? Your father and Uncle Futian have already approved your relationship with Ye Zhiye, so you guys don’t need to hide it anymore.”

Shang Zhui released his son from his embrace. ”Have you met Ye Futian before? Has he really accepted your relationship with his daughter?”

”We met with my father-in-law some time ago, and he has accepted our relationship,” Tian Shuixiang then told him. ”Even though you both have accepted our relationship, my wife and I will not be returning to either domain, and we will focus on helping our leader build his power.”

Shang Zhui suddenly realized something. ”What exactly is that young demon’s name? Why do you two keep hiding it from me?”
