Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 1266: The Moon Flame’s Spirit

Zhang Fei [5] let out a heavy sigh. ”The Silver Moon Clan is one of the first two ancient clans, and they would never leave any of their sacred places unprotected; however, I am unsure about the type of protection they used for this crucible. Back then, the natural races and some humans entered this place; their strength was quite high, but they almost died at the hands of these spectral beasts.”

”Did their attacks disappear like ours?”

Zhang Fei [5] nodded at them. ”Since our attacks are also useless, I think the only solution to approach the Moon Flame is to distract these spectral beasts away. However, they cannot leave this crucible, and their speed is also fast, so our space for movement is limited.”

Zhang Fei [5] suddenly remembered someone, and he opened the gate before disappearing inside, confusing Jia Xianzu and Beiming Youhuang. Soon, he returned to that place together with Jian Kuang and Zhuxian Sheng. ”Do you have news from Su Shentian?”

”No.” Jian Kuang shook his head in response. ”That guy’s movements are unpredictable, and he changes domains too frequently. So, what are we going to do here? Why did you bring us here?”

”He must need our help to deal with those beasts.” Zhuxian Sheng pointed at the crucible.

”Hmm?” Jian Kuang looked at those spectral beasts. ”What kind of beasts are those? I’ve never encountered beasts like them before.”

”Spectral beasts.” Zhang Fei [5] then told them the purpose of bringing them there before pointing at the Moon Flame. ”I need that flame, but these spectral beasts guard it.”

Jian Kuang summoned his sword and slashed it toward the nearest spectral beast, but his expression changed to shock as soon as his sword qi disappeared before it could hit the beast. ”What the fuck? How can my attack disappear?”

”Let me try something.” Zhuxian Sheng summoned the black spear that Feng Yao gave him some time ago, and he threw it toward the front spectral beast. To their surprise, the spear directly pierced through the beast’s body, causing it to disappear instantly. ”As expected.”

”Did you use your time abilities to deactivate the protection in that place?” Zhang Fei [5] asked.

”No.” Zhuxian Sheng shook his head slightly. ”Actually, there’s no protection in that place, and the protection you’re referring to lies with these beasts themselves. If you use qi or ranged attacks, their barrier will activate automatically to dispel your attack, but it won’t activate if you use physical attacks, which means we have to attack them at close range. However, there are too many of them and the area is too narrow, so—”

”Hey, look at that.” They saw the spectral beast, which Zhuxian Sheng had previously killed, suddenly reappear. ”That beast is alive again, and the pause is only a few seconds. If we attack them from close range, they will eventually surround us, and we will be overwhelmed to face them all at once. We can attack them up close, but we can’t kill them; instead, we have to defend while luring them away from the flame, and Zhang Fei [5] will move to take it. However, our numbers are too few compared to theirs, so you should bring your other four clones here to help us distract them.”

”My fourth clone is cultivating in the Blood Sea in the Slaughter Blood Domain right now, and he has to monitor Tian Shuixiang, who is fusing with his ancestor’s bloodline, so I can’t bring him here.” Zhang Fei [5] then summoned the other three clones out of the training space before asking Zhuxian Sheng. ”Can you slow down their movements using your time abilities?”

Zhuxian Sheng supported his chin in thought. ”Honestly, my ability to control time isn’t perfect yet, and there are too many of them. I can only stop their movements for one or two seconds, and there is a delay of a few seconds before I can use it again, so you guys should not depend on me.”

”It’s alright, we won’t rely on your ability to control time, and you can use it if one of us is in a pinch.” After Zhuxian Sheng agreed, they immediately moved to the crucible, but they did not right away enter that area. Despite this, the spectral beasts stood ready to stop them, and their killing intent surged as if they were eager to kill.

”Beasts from the ancient era are indeed different! They are terrifying.” Beiming Youhuang nodded in agreement with Jia Xianzu. ”So, how are we going to get inside?”

Zhang Fei [1] moved to Beiming Youhuang’s side, as she was the slowest among them. Feltia [2] stood beside Jian Kuang, as he was not a speed cultivator but a sword cultivator.

Zhang Fei [5] then spoke to Jia Xianzu and Zhuxian Sheng. ”Since you both have high speed, you can split up, and my third clone will lure the others. Once these spectral beasts chase after you, I will immediately move to take the Moon Flame.”

After they agreed, they entered the crucible at the same time before scattering in five different directions. As they expected, those spectral beasts also scattered to chase them.

Like their original plan, Jian Kuang and the others did not attack or kill the spectral beasts, and they only defended against the beasts’ attacks while running away.

However, Zhang Fei [5] saw that some of the spectral beasts were not chasing Jia Xianzu and the others; instead, they floated before the Moon Flame to guard it.

Since he couldn’t use the Demon Extermination Sword because his real body was using it to fight those bloodthirsty demon beasts, Zhang Fei [5] chose to use the Abyss Demon Halberd. After that, he teleported before those spectral beasts, which immediately attacked him with a torrent of poison.

”Poison, huh?” Zhang Fei [5] smirked slightly without avoiding the poison. After all, he has poison immunity, and the beasts’ poison is completely useless against him.

Seeing that, the spectral beasts immediately attacked Zhang Fei [5] using another attack, but their attack only hit the illusion. Soon, ten other illusions appear in front of the beasts, infuriating them and attacking the illusions directly.

Below them, Zhang Fei [1], Feltia [2], and Zhang Xiaolong [3] also used the clone illusion steps, creating thirty illusions that confused the spectral beasts.

Meanwhile, Zhang Fei [5] had already teleported above the Moon Flame, but an attack suddenly appeared out of nowhere and struck him, propelling him backward. ”Shit! Where did that attack just now come from?”

[Master, the attack just now came from the Moon Flame itself. The flame has apparently given birth to a spirit, and it doesn’t want you to take it.]

”A spirit, huh?” Zhang Fei [5] muttered as he flew away because those spectral beasts charged at him. He immediately activated his soul domain to restrict the beasts’ movements, but it was not very useful. He decided to activate his lust domain, and he used the fourth effect to absorb their power. Additionally, he used the fifth effect, casting illusion upon them.

Seeing that his plan was working, Zhang Fei [5] immediately used the Reversal Mirror Technique, and several mirrors appeared around him, including the golden mirror.

Zhang Fei [5] approached the Moon Flame again, but the flame immediately attacked him like before. However, he activated the golden mirror and reversed the attack, causing it to strike back into the flame.

”Ahhh!” A woman’s scream rang in Zhang Fei [5]’s ear, and soon a woman with silver hair like a moon shot out of the Moon Flame. She furiously stared at him, but she didn’t dare to attack him directly after being hit by her own attack just now. ”You! Who are you? How could you reverse my attack?”

Zhang Fei [5] did not immediately answer her; instead, he dodged the spectral beasts attacking from below, which then flew up to hover between him and the Moon Flame’s spirit. ”As expected! They’re here to protect you, huh?”

”Humph!” The woman snorted at Zhang Fei [5]. ”Their souls belong to members of the Silver Moon Race who died in the past, and they chose to protect me after their death because I was the most important treasure in their race. Now tell me, who are you? Why do you want to take my flame?”

Zhang Fei [5] transformed into his complete fox form with nine tails dancing behind him, leaving the woman stunned for a moment. However, she was shocked when ten flames appeared around him, and she could immediately recognize them.

”The Phoenix Flame, the Soul Flame, the Dragon Flame, the Sky Flame, the Earth Flame, the Blood Flame, and the Eternal Flame.” The woman then looked at the other three. ”The Golden Crow Flame, the Vermilion Flame, and the Icy Cold Flame.”

Huo Diqiu came straight out of the Earth Flame, surprising the spirit of the Moon Flame. ”Hehehe! Big Sis, please don’t be angry with my master. He needs your flame to perfect his fire technique, and you can see for yourself that he already possesses seven of the ten Heavenly Flames. Currently, only your Moon Flame, the Sun Flame, and the Chaotic Flame are left, so I hope you can give your flame to him.”

”No!” The spirit of the Moon Flame immediately refused. ”I belong to the Silver Moon Race, and I have sworn allegiance to them. Even though they are extinct, I will never betray my oath, and I will continue to protect this domain in their stead.”
