Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 1284: The Lotus Start To Bloom

”Don’t worry, okay? I guarantee they won’t recognize him.” Zhang Fei smirked after that. ”I’m more curious about Mo Taizi’s reaction if he finds out that his wife is actually a man.”

”Hahaha!” Nalan Wangzi burst into laughter. ”Your idea is truly insane, you know? Only you and your demon race have such an ability! I’m sure Mo Taizi will regret it for the rest of his life if he finds out that Nalan Qinghe is actually a man!”

Zhang Fei pulled Nalan Wangzi onto his lap, hugged her waist, and kissed her. ”Since Mo Taizi dares to want my woman, I must teach him a lesson, right? Unfortunately, I don’t have the ability to face his father yet, so I used such a method to teach him a lesson. Once I surpass his father, I will do something about them, and I will unite the demon races under me.”

”Hmm?” Nalan Wangzi looked at him with surprise. ”Do you really want to unite all the demon races?”

Zhang Fei nodded at her. ”To bring peace back to this universe, I have no choice but to unite all races. The beast race has already united under Long Wuzhao, so I don’t need to worry too much about them. Although some of the natural races don’t expect my existence, many of them are waiting for the return of the ten-tailed fox, so I think uniting them won’t be too difficult. The most difficult to unite are the human and demon races, as many of them are too ambitious to control their race, for example, Mo Shentian.”

Nalan Wangzi agreed with that. ”What about the Winged Race?”

”I don’t have much information about the Winged Race yet.” Zhang Fei replied while shaking his head. ”However, I have the support of Tian Huangjin and several grand elders, and Xu Ling’er is the reincarnation of their first ancestor. Although some grand elders, such as Tian Ziye, prefer not to be subordinate to anyone, I believe they will not be as troublesome as the human and demon races.”

”You’re right about them.” Nalan Wangzi moved on to something else. ”You forgot about another race, the demihuman race. Their numbers are substantial in the Heavenly Mistveil Domain.”

”Hmm?” Zhang Fei had almost forgotten about the demihuman race, as he had never encountered any members of that race again, except for the ones in the Wasteland Realm in the past. ”How strong are they compared to the beast and demon races?”

”The demihuman race’s strength is between that of the beast and human races, but some of them are as strong as Mo Shentian, especially some of their leaders.” Zhang Fei raised an eyebrow, prompting Nalan Wangzi to explain a few things to him. ”That’s all I know, but you can ask Long Wuzhao or Empress Huo for more. Since your sect doesn’t have members from their race yet, I think you can try going to their domain. They don’t like humans or other races, but they like the beast race, so I believe they won’t be hostile to you if you use your half-fox form there.”

Zhang Fei was interested in visiting the demihuman race in the Heavenly Mistveil Domain, but it was not an urgent matter, and he could meet them at any time in the future. ”I have many problems at hand, so I won’t meet them for now, and I will meet them when I’m strong.”

”Your main problem for now is Jia Zizhen and Jia Mozu, especially since both of them already know about your existence. Mo Shentian should already know about you from the fairy king, as the two of them are in cahoots. I’m sure he won’t make a move on you himself, but he will probably send his subordinates to hunt you down soon, so you have to be more wary of him.” Nalan Wangzi then looked at Morgana and Oz the First among those people. ”That man is a celestial demon, but his strength and demon rank are still low, so he won’t be able to help you for now.”

”You’re right, Mo Shentian—” Zhang Fei didn’t continue when he saw a Phantom Soul Lotus shining brightly. ”Is it as I think, Wangzi?”

”Quickly! Send them back to your space, brother-in-law! The Phantom Soul Lotus will soon fully bloom into a nine-petal lotus, at which point the Soul Wraith Lord will appear.” After Nalan Wangzi got off his lap, Zhang Fei asked them to stop absorbing the lotus, and he sent them back to the training space afterwards.

”What happened? Why did you suddenly stop us?” Yao Qilin asked him in confusion.

”Look at that.” Yao Qilin looked at the Phantom Soul Lotus, which had floated in midair. ”The Soul Wraith Lord will appear once the lotus fully blooms, and its strength is equal to, or even stronger than, my mother’s. If they stay here, they will die in his hands.”

As the lotus glowed brighter, Zhang Fei grabbed Nalan Wangzi and Yao Qilin by the shoulders, leading them away from the area. He didn’t have clear information about the Soul Wraith Lord’s strength and abilities, but he had already tested the Blood Tree King’s strength before, so he didn’t want to risk getting too close to that location.

Xie Heilong and the others followed them, but Zhang Fei immediately sent them into his best space, allowing him to borrow their strength. He then took the two women into the invisible state once they were far enough from the heart of the forest, waiting for the Phantom Soul Lotus to fully bloom.

Nalan Wangzi wanted to contact her mother for help, but Zhang Fei forbade her because Nalan Shizhe was in a weakened state after using both techniques to stop the soul creature earlier. He wasn’t too worried about the Soul Wraith Lord, as he could take them to his soul world directly if the situation got out of hand.

As time passed by, the Phantom Soul Lotus glowed brighter and brighter, and it continued to rotate in midair, attracting all the wandering evil souls in the area. In a few minutes, countless wandering evil souls had gathered around the lotus, making the air temperature in the area completely cold.

”How long before the lotus blooms?”

Nalan Wangzi shook her head at Zhang Fei. ”This is my first time watching the lotus bloom, so I don’t know how long it will take for it to fully bloom.”

”Let’s wait then.” Zhang Fei sighed.

Up in the sky, Jiu Yaoming frowned after sensing the changes in the Wailing Soul Forest, and she hurriedly returned to the forest. Although she couldn’t see the forest’s interior due to the natural formations, she could still sense the changes taking place within.

”What’s going on here? Why is this area of the forest colder than the others? Moreover, I sense a lot of movement inside, which I believe is caused by the wandering evil souls.” Jiu Yaoming landed in front of the forest, but she did not immediately enter it because she did not understand the situation inside. ”Heh! Mere wandering evil souls won’t be able to stop me, so I’ll go inside now, and I hope I can find something interesting inside.”

After she summoned several eyes, Jiu Yaoming immediately moved into the forest, but she was confronted by several formations. With her abilities as an eye demon, it wasn’t too difficult for her to get past those traps, and she moved into the depth of the forest faster.

[Master, Jiu Yaoming entered this forest, and she moved toward your location really fast.]

’Hmm?’ Zhang Fei immediately looked at the map and found Jiu Yaoming’s name on it. ’How did she manage to avoid those traps? Could it be because of her eye abilities?’

[I think so, Master. Unfortunately, we don’t have any information on her abilities yet, but I think she has some abilities that might be useful to you, and you could try mimicking her abilities if you find anything interesting about her abilities.]

Zhang Fei himself had not added to his collection of demon abilities in his demon mimicry for a long time, and Jiu Yaoming’s ability to avoid those natural traps piqued his interest.

Zhang Fei informed the two women beside him. ”That female eye demon is on her way here, and I want you to help me capture her, Qilin. Her cultivation is one minor stage below yours, so you should have no trouble capturing her.”

”Hmm?” Yao Qilin turned to him in surprise. ”Do you want to do something to her?”

”Yeah.” Zhang Fei nodded slightly. ”She’s one of the Jiu Mozu’s nine direct subordinates, so I want to use her to spy on him, and I also have other plans for her.”

”Alright.” Yao Qilin readily agreed. ”Tell me when she gets close to our location, and I’ll immediately move to capture her.”

Zhang Fei returned his gaze to the Phantom Soul Lotus, but it still showed no signs of fully blooming. However, the number of wandering evil souls gathering around it was increasing, making the area crowded.

As they waited, Zhang Fei continued to monitor Jiu Yaoming’s movements on the map, and the distance between them continued to shrink rapidly. Sometime later, he saw that the female demon was getting closer to their location, and he immediately told Yao Qilin about her position.

Yao Qilin did not move from her spot, but Zhang Fei took Nalan Wangzi away from her side, as Jiu Yaoming’s eye abilities could see through his invisibility.
