Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 1278: Sudden Change

’Brother-in-law, how did you manage to find so many beautiful women? How did you manage to get them together and get along so well?’ Nalan Huanzi wondered in his heart. There wasn’t a hint of jealousy or lust in his eyes, and he simply admired the woman’s beauty.

Even though Ye Mingran had already told her that Ye Futian, Long Wuzhao, and several others captured those evil beasts for Zhang Fei, Nalan Shizhe was still quite shocked by their presence, especially since some of them possessed strength equal to hers, and some others were almost at her level.

’It is no surprise that he previously dared to venture into the Slaughter Blood Domain! These beasts are stronger than most asura demons, but not as strong as Shang Zhanluo.’ Nalan Shizhe turned her attention to Ling Xiannu. ”Where did you meet her, Zhang Fei? She was born on the night when Yin reaches its peak, right?”

”You’re right, mother-in-law.” Zhang Fei nodded at her. ”Actually, the body she currently possesses is not her real body; instead, her past identity is that of a dark fairy whom I met in the Fairy Pond located in the Nine Stars Realm. Back then, I told my acquaintance, who was kidnapped by Yuan Xiajie, that I wanted to create the Nine Yin puppet, and she helped me find her body. Since she couldn’t wait to reshape her body, I allowed her to use it.”

”I see.” Nalan Shizhe then spread her aura throughout the area, preventing those wandering evil souls from approaching them. ”You guys can pluck these Phantom Soul Lotuses to strengthen your souls, but you must do it one at a time. If you absorb several lotuses at once, the negative emotions in them will affect you, and no one can help you remove them.”

”Yes.” Immediately, everyone picked a lotus, sat down cross-legged, released their souls, and began to absorb it.

Although Nalan Shizhe was protecting them, Zhang Fei still ordered the evil beasts to stand guard around them, just in case something unexpected happened.

Nalan Yushu immediately joined them, but the black lotus in the souls of all Zhang Fei’s women confused Nalan Shizhe. ”Those black lotuses come from the dual soul cultivation technique I got from Qing Qiu’er, but not everyone can learn it because it requires absolute and unwavering trust in their partners.”

”I see.” Nalan Shizhe nodded in understanding. ”Aren’t you going to absorb these lotuses?”

Zhang Fei shook his head slightly. ”My soul level is already at the half-perfection stage of the divine soul level, so these lotuses are less useful to me than those wandering evil souls. Moreover, their soul powers are far below mine, so I will let them absorb these lotuses.”

”You’re right, these lotuses are indeed much more beneficial to them.” Nalan Shizhe suddenly noticed something unusual about one of Zhang Fei’s women before pointing at Zhang Lingxue. ”How can she absorb the lotus so quickly? Moreover, the technique she uses to absorb it is quite similar to our soul-devouring techniques.”

”Haha.” Zhang Fei softly laughed. ”Mother-in-law, Lingxue is a new beast race, a Phoenix Devouring Beast to be precise, and she possesses some devouring abilities like your demon race.”

Nalan Shizhe turned to Zhang Fei with a raised eyebrow. ”Since when was there a Phoenix Devouring Beast race?”

”Lingxue is the only one of her kin.” Zhang Fei’s answer confused Nalan Shizhe, as no living creature could be born without parents. ”At first, she already had a few drops of phoenix origin bloodline given to her by Feng Yao, and I used a special method to turn her into a beast. Unexpectedly, that beast bloodline fused with her phoenix bloodline, and she turned into the Phoenix Devouring Beast because of it.”

”Empress Huo?” Nalan Shizhe was surprised.

Zhang Fei nodded at her. ”You may not realize it, but Feng Yao is a pure fire phoenix in this lifetime. She and Lingxue are like siblings, and she gave her the phoenix origin bloodline because of her talent in alchemy.”

”So, your wife is also an alchemy god like you, right?”

”Yeah.” Zhang Fei looked at Zhang Lingxue with a smile as she began to devour several more lotuses. ”Apart from her, there are eight other god-rank alchemists by my side, including Tian Shuixiang.”

Nalan Shizhe massaged her forehead after hearing that. ”I don’t understand how you managed to gather them all on your side, but I advise you not to be too conspicuous in this realm, and you should hide them from the public. There are countless sects and clans in this realm, and not all of them are good. Many of them are jealous and greedy, and they will join forces to attack your sect if it stands out too much. Moreover, those alchemists are not the only ones, right? I’m sure you still have people who are experts in other fields, such as blacksmithing and others, right?”

”Yes.” Zhang Fei nodded in response. ”Otherwise, I wouldn’t build so many halls in my sect, right? Honestly, I’m starting to understand the situation in this realm, and I deliberately didn’t make them all appear in public. Like my alchemy hall, Lin Jingxia and Tian Shuixiang will be responsible for taking care of it. Lingxue and the others will not remain there; instead, they will perform alchemy in my private space, while the business hall handles the sale of our pills.”

”Having two alchemy masters in one sect is normal, so you were correct to allow them to manage your alchemy hall. Moreover, Tian Shuixiang is Shang Zhui’s son, and he wouldn’t stand idly by if other races attacked his son. By the way, tell me more about your sect.” Zhang Fei immediately explained to Nalan Shizhe about all the halls in the Moonlit Passion Sect, including the people responsible for each hall. ”One or two caretakers per hall is the best choice, and people won’t be too wary of your sect if they end up hearing about everything.”

”Yeah.” Zhang Fei then asked her. ”Do you have a beast tamer acquaintance, mother-in-law? I’ve built the hall for it, but I don’t have the right person to manage it yet. My sect is open to all races, so it doesn’t matter if your acquaintance is a demon.”

”I don’t have any acquaintances with a beast tamer.” Nalan Shizhe tried to search through her memories about it. ”Instead, you should go to Ye Futian; I remember he has an acquaintance who is an expert in beast taming. Since you are his grand disciple, I’m sure he won’t mind introducing you to that person.”

”My grandmaster is currently in the Three Mortal Realms, so I will wait for him to return before meeting him.” Zhang Fei suddenly felt a change in the area around them, and the air temperature quickly decreased.

Nalan Shizhe, Nalan Wangzi, Nalan Huanzi, and the evil beasts also noticed the change. ”Mother, this—”

”Yes.” Shang Shizhe nodded to her first daughter. ”This is one of the signs the thing will appear soon, but I can’t confirm its location before it appears.”

”The thing?”

Nalan Wangzi immediately informed Zhang Fei. ”The thing is the amalgamation of the wandering evil souls, and it usually appears in a different form with each appearance. Last time, it took the form of the Evil Three-Eyed Crow Beast, and its power was quite terrifying, especially its soul abilities.”

”I see.” Zhang Fei nodded in understanding. ”Basically, it resembles the wandering soul demon I encountered in the Nine Hells Darkland Realm, but it is much stronger because the wandering evil soul in this domain possesses greater power.”

”Look over there!” Zhang Fei and the others looked in the far east in the direction Nalan Huanzi was pointing, where a vortex of countless evil souls was starting to form. ”Doesn’t this mean that thing will appear there, mother?”

”Yes.” Nalan Shizhe took out a device, and a silverish-black light shot into the sky after she activated it, which was a danger signal for members of his race. ”Zhang Fei, I have to go to that area and wait for that thing to appear; otherwise, my demon race members won’t be able to deal with it.”

”It’s okay; you can go there, mother-in-law.” Zhang Fei looked at those evil beasts. ”Xie Heilong and the others should be strong to protect them from these wandering evil souls.”

Nalan Shizhe agreed with him. ”I’ll come back after I stop that thing.”

Since they couldn’t fly in the forest, Zhang Fei opened the gate to the domain, and Nalan Shizhe immediately disappeared into it. ”Aren’t you two going to follow her?”

”Brother-in-law, it’s no different from committing suicide if we follow our mother,” Nalan Huanzi replied with a bitter smile.

Nalan Wangzi then told him. ”Brother-in-law, that thing has power equal to our mother’s, so only she can handle it. Even if she is overwhelmed by it, the previous demon god will appear to help her, so you don’t need to worry about her.”

Zhang Fei returned his gaze to the vortex that was getting bigger and stronger. ’Do you think my soul power is enough to deal with that thing, Mei?’

[Master, I can’t estimate it now, and we have to wait for the thing to appear first. As soon as it appears, I will scan its power, and I will tell you the results.]

’Alright.’ While waiting, Zhang Fei went hunting the wandering evil souls, but he didn’t go too far because most of them were stronger than him.
