I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 548: 531: Soft-hearted?Chapter 548: Chapter 531: Soft-hearted?

“Mu Ying, you don’t need to worry too much. Everyone still cherishes their lives. If there really are those who come with malicious intent aiming at human lives, just set up a dedicated duel-to-the-death arena where casualties are disregarded. As for the rest, everyone is an adult and should be responsible for their own life,”

“For a regular dueling arena, having a Priest present is enough. The Priest can see both parties’ blood volume. If it drops below a certain percentage, they can halt the duel and transfer both parties out of the arena. This way, casualties can be controlled.”

“This provides a safer venue for players to practice real combat while also providing job opportunities for the low-level Priests in the territory, which is beneficial in every respect without any harm.”

“Sometimes, you are too tender-hearted, always worrying about the Local People getting injured or dying.”

“Both the territory regulations and tasks reflect this.”

“No form of fighting is allowed within the territory, and the territory tasks are not very dangerous either.”

“This is both good and bad for the Local People.”

“The environment has indeed become more stable, and everyone’s mortality rate has greatly decreased. Qingshan City truly seems like a paradise in the apocalypse.”

“However, similarly, many players have also lost the opportunity to exercise and the courage to adventure.”

“In the long run, how many Local People will dare to step forward and fight bravely if the territory faces a crisis?”

“Are you always supposed to bear the brunt alone?”

“In the apocalypse, everyone should be responsible for their own lives and always be vigilant of dangers around them. This shouldn’t be your responsibility alone.”

“From what I know, now in the territory many players have completely given up on honing their combat skills in the wilderness. They call themselves ‘Life Players,’ relying on working within the territory to support themselves.”

“It’s not necessarily that they are uninterested in wilderness combat, but rather they lack the courage to venture out and don’t have proper opportunities to improve and exercise themselves, with the territory serving as their fallback and safe harbor.”

“They completely depend on the peaceful and perfect system within the territory to live. Once something goes wrong in the territory, they will revert to the days of the initial days of the apocalypse when they could barely survive.”

“Setting up an effective combat training arena is very necessary. Even if it’s not very safe, it doesn’t matter that much.”

Li Luoxia also pointed this out, seeing that Mu Ying had managed to create such a large dueling arena underground in just one day, knowing that setting up such a place should not be a difficult task for her.

This long speech left Mu Ying speechless.

Was she tender-hearted? She was tough towards enemies, but towards the Local People and players who joined her territory, she indeed had a softer heart.”

She always worried about them not being able to find jobs within the territory, unable to earn money and survive, hence she established various positions and posted assorted tasks so everyone could earn money.

However, she also worried that the territory tasks were too dangerous and might cause casualties, so the tasks she issued were either not dangerous or the danger was within her control. Even for those uncontrollable dangers, she carefully selected who took on the tasks to minimize casualties.

Was she worrying too much?

Regardless, Li Luoxia’s suggestion for setting up the dueling arena was very useful and gave her a lot of inspiration.

If there was a Priest constantly monitoring the duelists’ Life Value during each duel, then safety was indeed much more guaranteed.”

“Instant fatal blows were quite rare.”

Though there were still risks, they were indeed much smaller.”

Since safety wasn’t an issue, Mu Ying had no reason to refuse setting up this dueling arena. After all, the benefits outweighed the drawbacks.”

If it really opened up to the outside, it could potentially replicate the transformation process of the test house. Maybe Little Stone could produce a special dueling arena for her!”

“Alright! Let’s set up a dueling arena open to outsiders. But the current one is still too rudimentary. It needs to be remodeled into a platform,” Mu Ying said.”

“Great!” Xie Sen said, “When it’s ready, I will invite a group of opponents at my level to have some practice matches!”

“We can also challenge other teams to train our team coordination. Just thinking about it is exciting!” Edwin said, being a support who could only follow the team, “By the way, Lord, when will it be ready? You managed to create such a big space in one day, so remodeling it should be a piece of cake, right?”

“Don’t worry! It will be open by the day after tomorrow at the latest,” Mu Ying said, somewhat annoyed.

“Alright, that’s settled then!” Edwin fired up the Territory Internal Network and began to search for the teams with the best team coordination in his friends list to challenge them to battles.

As he searched, he suddenly realized he had a team captain right beside him. He looked at Li Luoxia, “How about calling up your teammates for a match?”

“Sure!” Li Luoxia readily accepted the challenge.

Even though their team had one second-place global rank, one fourth-place, a Trialist, and a fourth-place regional rank, which made them a strong team, her Luoxia Team had five members. Five against four, it was still worth a try. Losing didn’t matter much.”

“Do you want me to help you keep an eye on the blood volume?” Luoluo smartly began seeking job opportunities.

“Sure!”

...

Mu Ying shook her head and smiled. The dueling arena was not yet ready, but they had already arranged their opponents, eager for a fight.”

After having lunch with them, Mu Ying returned to the Underground City’s dueling arena to start remodeling the site.

To accommodate multiple combats simultaneously, one arena was definitely not enough. She needed to build several more.”

However, they didn’t need to be as big as the current one; from her experience today, half the size would suffice.”

First, she divided the current site into two, then built a large platform in the middle with a Priest-specific watchtower on the side. The remaining area was equipped with stone benches for the combatants’ friends and family to sit and watch.

There was still some risk for the spectators sitting down there, so each dueling arena was enclosed. Only when both competitors agreed could others come in, and if accidentally injured, they would have to take responsibility themselves.”

In the entire dueling zone, only the platform was exempt from the territory’s rule against fighting.”

Also, on the Priest-specific watchtower was a stop-fight button. Once pressed, the people on the platform would be immediately transported underneath it, allowing the fight to be stopped at once.”

Though the remodeling was said to take two days, it only took an hour, and next to the test house area, Mu Ying prepared ten dueling arenas.”

Among them, Arena One was reserved for her own training, useful for practical combat sessions with Draco and Atom. The rest were all opened up like the test house, operating on a queue system.”
