Chapter 524: 507: Breaking the ShellChapter 524: Chapter 507: Breaking the Shell

Mu Ying calmly rolled around a few times with the eggshell before being stopped by an external force, and a moist bundle of energy wrapped around the eggshell, immobilizing her.

“Phew, thank goodness, the shell is still intact.”

“Nicole, don’t worry. The nurturing manual says that babies are very active at this stage, and Divine Power can’t break the eggshell. Rolling around a bit is fine, just keep an eye on her so she doesn’t roll too far away.”

“Yes, Goddess!”

“I’m not yet worthy of being called the Mother Goddess, for now just call me Master!”

“But you created me, so you are my Mother Goddess!”

“But I haven’t yet had the ability to create more of your kind and let you independently continue reproducing. When I can do that, you may call me Mother Goddess!”

“Yes, Master!”

...

It was rare for Maeve’s mother and another voice to be present at the same time, and only then did Mu Ying learn the name of the other voice, Nicole, which sounded like a girl’s name.

So it was Maeve’s mother who had created her, no wonder every time she spoke of Maeve’s mother, it was with full admiration and dependence.

She continued to roll around—it wasn’t that she was being naughty, but she didn’t know when she could hatch if she didn’t move!

She had heard before that the shell of the Divine Embryo was very difficult to destroy from the outside.

Why just say it’s hard from the outside? Did that imply it was easier from the inside?

It wasn’t her first time rolling around, and there were numerous bumps and knocks, but it was only she who damaged other things, never cracking her own shell.

It was also because Nicole was too cautious, always worried each time.

The first time she moved, she had bumped into something hard, and something had hit the top of her egg.

Hearing Nicole’s gasp, she realized she had struck the oldest Blue apple tree in the Divine Country, and a blue apple had fallen and hit her.

She grew her body while asleep and moved around more when awake, giving her arms and legs more strength, so her tiny fists had greater destructive power when hitting the shell.

The first time she stubbornly bumped against the shell, she had knocked herself out, but now she could bump and punch freely without much pain.

But it still wasn’t enough to break the shell.

When she grew enough to break the shell, that would be the time for her to hatch.

As her body grew better, she now had the size of a little child over one year old, and her small arms and legs were very strong.

The egg, once spacious enough to somersault inside, now felt much narrower, and she had to be careful even just turning over.

If she grew any bigger and still couldn’t break the shell, she might just suffocate in there.

So she made a lot of effort to “move,” and the Blue apple tree which dropped apples was her favorite, because other trees might break from her bumping, but only this oldest tree was sturdy enough and provided the best sensation on impact.

At most, a ripe blue apple would fall, which Maeve’s mother could keep to brew apple wine, and this was also one of the ways Maeve’s mother made extra money. Mu Ying was helping Maeve’s mother with her work even before she had hatched!

After gaining freedom of movement, she rolled expertly left and right, coming to a familiar location to “exercise,” using various body parts including but not limited to her head, fists, feet, and back to bump the shell, then using the Blue apple tree to stop the momentum.

“Bang~”

She waited a second, and there was no movement.

Mu Ying shook her head in disappointment; she hadn’t dislodged a single apple, clearly her mobility had decreased after sleeping too long.

Again!

“Bang~”

Blue apple tree: ...

Still nothing, once more!

“Bang~” “Bang~” “Bang~”

“Crack!”

“Ah! The Goddess smashed the Blue Apple Tree open!”

“The Goddess herself is cracked too!!!”

Blue Apple Tree: ...

Mu Ying: ???

Mu Ying rubbed her dizzy head and carefully felt the eggshell: Cracked? Where?

Although she couldn’t open her eyes and couldn’t see very clearly, having been inside the eggshell for hundreds of years, she almost had the inner wall wrapped up fully; she would have definitely noticed immediately if it was really cracked.

After feeling around for a while, it was still very smooth.

Suddenly, she felt the whole egg lift off—someone was touching her egg!

Maeve’s mother’s voice mixed with the sound of flipping pages, “Just a thin little crack, it hasn’t penetrated through the entire shell, yes, this is a prelude to hatching! In another decade or two, the baby will be able to break out!”

Mu Ying: !!!

She quickly pushed on the eggshell to try again!

“Haha, the baby really has energy, but you shouldn’t pick on this Blue Apple Tree alone, if the tree spirit gets angry, it might not produce fruit for the next century.”

Mu Ying: ????

Was it really cracked by her?

She had thought this tree was really sturdy and didn’t want to damage other things, which would add to the burdens of an already poor family, so she was being careful with it.

That can’t be hit then; the Blue Apple Tree not bearing fruit would be bad, but what should she bump into next?

Throwing a punch, the egg just rolled away, and much of the force was lost—too inefficient.

“Don’t worry! Using external force to assist in hatching isn’t necessarily a good thing, let’s take it slow!”

Maeve’s mother’s words reminded Mu Ying, right, by using other objects to stabilize the egg, the physical strength required to break the shell would be much less, but if it hatched this way, would her Divine Body meet the standards?

This eggshell was also a sort of protection for her, ensuring her development.

Mu Ying now stopped struggling, and didn’t seek hard objects to collide, but steadied the egg herself, kicking and punching, or rolling the egg while bumping into sides.

After tiring herself out, she would fall asleep soundly, waking up to continue her struggle with the eggshell.

Her eyes were still sealed shut otherwise she would have targeted that previous crack.

However, each of Nicole’s exclamations let her know the results of her “activity.”

The cracks in the eggshell were increasing in number.

More than ten hours had gone by in the real world when Mu Ying could finally stand up inside the eggshell. That’s when she used her little legs to stabilize her stance and then pushed hard upwards.

The big egg on the soft mat bounced up and down, sometimes tipping over but quickly standing up again to continue bouncing, tireless like a rubber ball.

She didn’t know how many times she jumped.

“Crack!”

This time the sound of the eggshell cracking was more pronounced.

“Keep going! Baby, you’re almost out!”

A sense of joy rose in Mu Ying’s heart, and she redoubled her efforts!

“Bang~”

“Bang~”

“Crack!!!”

With a crisp sound, Mu Ying felt the resistance above her head suddenly vanish, the fluid wrapping around her body seemed to disappear in an instant, and her little legs didn’t feel slippery anymore, steadying herself all at once as if the wind was kissing her cheeks, cool against her face.

Instinctively, she moved her eyelids and this time they opened smoothly, at last, for the first time, she opened her eyes.
