Chapter 531: 514: Divine Race Swing GameplayChapter 531: Chapter 514: Divine Race Swing Gameplay

Several months later, Maeve finally took complete control of the Water Law in the lake area of Creekwood Small World and hurriedly woke from her slumber.

This was the fastest she had ever taken over the Law, her heart uneasy about her baby who had just hatched not long ago.

She surmised that Baby Ying’s first sleep must have also been about nine years or so, possibly shorter than hers, but not by much. Upon awakening, there should be at least two to three years of vigorous energy ahead.

Anxious that she might wake before her and, having tired of playing within the lake’s bounds, grow curious about the outside world and wander ashore—even with Nicole’s care, Maeve’s concern remained endless.

Yet, the moment she opened her eyes, she saw her precious child lying obediently on the little water bed, breathing softly and slowly.

Still asleep? Good, good!

Maeve sighed in relief and went to check on her.

Nicole, sensing movement, floated up immediately: “Master, you’ve awakened? The little master just fell asleep five months ago.”

“What? Baby Ying has already woken up?” Maeve asked in surprise. “When did she wake?”

“Five months ago, she woke up for just half a day before falling asleep again,” Nicole replied. “The little master was very well-behaved, didn’t go ashore, only spent a little while on Lake Heart Island, took a brief look at the shore from the water’s edge, then asked me to tell her about your past stories, Master. After that, she voluntarily requested to go back to sleep.”

The handbook on nurturing stated that before inheriting the Divine Power, everything was new and fascinating to a Young God, and their curiosity and desire for knowledge were strong. However, their Divine Power was still weak and they didn’t know how to use it, so they needed to be carefully protected to avoid early demise from danger.

Why did Baby Ying’s curiosity only last half a day and she even chose to sleep voluntarily?

Maeve used her Divine Power to create a Water Mirror that reflected Nicole’s memories from that period, watching them carefully.

In the beginning, everything seemed normal; she played on Lake Heart Island. Although Maeve didn’t know why she liked poking stones, it was still full of energy, fitting the characteristics of a Little Young God with strong curiosity.

Her interest in hearing about Maeve from Nicole was a part of her curiosity about her.

Finally, when Baby Ying spoke about wanting to grow up quickly, believing that she would digest the Divine Power faster during sleep, and considering that she had looked at herself in the lake’s surface upon waking and inquired about her hair, Maeve understood.

“Baby Ying is such a lovely, beauty-loving little one. She was so eager to go back to sleep to digest the Divine Power and grow her hair faster!” Maeve said with a laugh.

She had heard that the Mountain God living in the surrounding mountains had a Little Young God twenty years older than Baby Ying. Maeve had thought about taking her there to make friends, so when she was busy with her new job in the upcoming three years, Baby Ying would have a companion to play with and wouldn’t get too bored. But now there was no hurry.

Baby Ying was going to sleep for at least eighteen more years before waking again, by which time the Mountain God’s Little Young God would have likely entered his third slumber, so missing the chance to meet each other.

...

As Mu Ying slept without any awareness, she didn’t know that Maeve’s mother had arranged a playmate for her and that her early return to sleep had thwarted those plans.

Eighteen years passed by, and Mu Ying slowly awakened.

As she opened her eyes, she immediately saw Maeve’s mother leisurely swinging on a swing.

Having stayed in her dwelling to wait for her to wake up, Maeve now saw her daughter opening her eyes, formed a stream of water and brought her into her arms: “This is something I learned from humans, called a swing; human children enjoy it very much. Let’s play together, Mama will push you! Hold on tight!”

Swinging by myself was dull, slow and leisurely, but as soon as I took my daughter with me, my enthusiasm soared. We went faster and higher.

Mu Ying clung tightly to Maeve’s mother’s arm, her face scrunched up with tension, and she bravely resisted the urge to cry out amid the whooshing wind.

Upon waking this time, Mu Ying realized she had a better grasp of how long she’d been asleep. It wasn’t like before, when she’d awaken without any sense of what year it was.

After sleeping for eighteen years, aside from a few less strands of hair, she was still a tiny thing, unable to resist when her mother wanted to swing her on a swing.

She wasn’t afraid of heights, but she disliked engaging in risky activities when she couldn’t protect herself. It was nothing more than a lack of a sense of security.

Although she knew Maeve’s mother would definitely protect her and keep her safe, she still felt uneasy.

Especially with swings that had very long ropes, swinging super high. Maeve’s mother held her with one hand and grasped the water rope with the other, and Mu Ying couldn’t shake the feeling that if her grip slipped, the result would be disastrous.

“Hahaha, Baby Ying, are you having fun? Want to go even higher?” Maeve asked excitedly.

“...” Mu Ying really wanted to say it wasn’t fun, but Maeve’s mother was clearly so happy!

Although she had fallen asleep soon after birth, including the time spent as an egg, Maeve’s mother’s presence had always been with her for hundreds of years. The sense of blood connection and unconditional acceptance had already made her very attached to Maeve’s mother.

Against her true feelings she said, “Haha~ fun~”

“Get ready, we’re going to fly!” Maeve let go, and Divine Power propelled the swing high into the sky.

An adult and a child shot into the air like little cannonballs, tracing a huge parabola across the sky.

“Ah!” Mu Ying couldn’t help but scream.

Although she screamed, it was only a moment of fear. She believed that Maeve’s mother would use her Divine Power to catch them.

But this swing flew them too high and too far, ridiculously all the way to the lake shore, and it looked like they would crash into the woods, yet Maeve’s mother still hadn’t made a move.

Mu Ying was truly scared now.

A moment later, Maeve’s mother, holding her, tumbled through the forest before letting her go. The two of them, large and small, sat on the ground without any semblance of poise.

“How was that? Fun, wasn’t it?” Maeve asked, brimming with excitement. “This is a new game I’ve developed over the years that’s suitable for the Divine Race!”

Mu Ying sat dazedly on the ground, touching her own small body and then Maeve’s mother, her mind buzzing.

She was certain that Maeve’s mother hadn’t used Divine Power. The impact of their landing had been anything but gentle, yet neither of them had a scratch on them, not even a speck of forest dirt or leaves.

She finally realized that the bodies of the Divine Race were far stronger than she had previously thought. Falling from such a height and distance without a single injury—it was her past human experiences that had misled her, leading her into a fallacy.

Instantly, her fear vanished, her eyes sparkling. “Mama, I want to play more!”

“I knew you’d like it!” Maeve said happily, patting her head. “The local Mountain God is pretty amicable. You can play in the lake and nearby forest from now on. Even if I’m not around, Uncle Mountain God will look out for you. He even made a large swing for his own daughter. She used to love swinging and often swung over the lake. I had hoped you two could meet, but you fell asleep too quickly last time. It’ll be over sixty years before you have the chance to meet her—when she turns a hundred.”
