I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 533: 516: The Third SlumberChapter 533: Chapter 516: The Third Slumber

The swing, surrounded by a mountain range, flew high above the great lake.

Mu Ying was not frightened at all this time. Standing on the swing, she relished the sensation of soaring high.

At the peak, she let go of the ropes, letting herself be tossed into the air, embracing the sky as if she could fly, a great stress-reliever.

Maeve also had a blast, with their laughter, both loud and soft, echoing through the mountains.

The bored Mountain God noticed their activity and joined in too. He swung over from the mountain, landing on the lake.

The robust physique of the Divine Race truly amazed Mu Ying. The feeling of free-falling without a worry about injury was wonderful, and she quickly fell in love with swinging like this.

However, they swung from morning to night, from night to morning, and then continued this cycle for two or three days.

Although her body was not tired, even the most fun activity tended to lose its excitement after being played so long, becoming routine.

But that was just her; Maeve’s mother and Mountain God uncle were still full of enthusiasm.

Now that she had bowed out of the competition, Maeve’s mother and Mountain God uncle were still going at it, swinging far into the distance, while Mu Ying leisurely swayed on the swing at their campsite, watching them.

It was clear that life for the Divine Race could indeed be utterly boring. Such a simple game, and they still had not had enough after three days, acting like a couple of Young Gods despite their tens of thousands of years.

Mu Ying stroked her chin, her small face serious, feeling that it wasn’t Maeve’s mother taking care of a child, but her taking care of her mother.

She had promised Baby Ying only three days of play, and when those three days were up, Maeve took one last swing and then called a stop, “No more, I’m going to sleep with Baby Ying now. We’ll play again when we wake up.”

“Your Baby Ying just woke up a few days ago and is going back to sleep? Little Young Gods should play and sleep. Don’t be too strict with her. The long life of a god is happiest when you’re a Young God,” said Mountain God Ian, disagreeing.

Maeve readily agreed, “That’s true, that’s what I think as well, but our Baby Ying won’t have it! Playing for three days was my insisting; she originally wanted to play just half a day before sleeping again. She also wants me to sleep and absorb the Divine Power Crystals, striving to enhance my Divine Power!”

“Really?” Mountain God Ian almost dropped his jaw in surprise.

Maeve nodded, “Absolutely true. I always feel that our Baby Ying is different from other Little Young Gods, not particularly interested in frolicking.”

The past two days, Mountain God Ian also felt that compared to his own Xiao Dian, Baby Ying was too quiet, “What an odd child.”

Maeve’s eyebrows shot up, offended, “You’re the odd one! Our Baby Ying is very sensible, thinking more long-term than we two gods who have lived tens of thousands of years. She urges me to enhance my Divine Power because Nicole told her not having enough would return her to heaven and earth. She does it so that I can stay with her longer. What a considerate child! I’d say, you should think about this too. You also single-handedly raised Xiao Dian. Don’t you want to take care of her for a long time, to be her support? As they strive to grow, we cannot slack off either! While Xiao Dian is sleeping, you should also work hard, or absorb Divine Power Crystals. Don’t end up less capable than the children, distracting them from having to look after us!”

Mountain God Ian frowned, considering her words.

Xiao Dian’s significance to him was undeniable, but he was still young and had never thought about such distant matters before. Now that he considered it, he found it somewhat hard to accept.

After a long silence, “I’ll go back to slumber as well!”

Twenty-seven years later, when Mu Ying woke up again, Maeve had already absorbed the Divine Power Crystal. She had even inspected every lake in Creekwood Small World, identifying those in poor condition and meticulously recording them, fully embracing her new role.

In the past, her initial inspections of all her territories could have been leisurely conducted, usually taking over a century. Even then, she was considered a highly efficient goddess, consistently receiving excellent evaluations each term.

But this time, she completed it in just twenty years, with even more care and detail than before. Last year, she even began using Divine Power to manage the lakes in poor condition.

Slowing down time to stretch one day into two, often rushing about, this efficiency was something she wouldn’t even have dared to dream of before.

The moment Mu Ying awoke, she heard Maeve’s mother proudly recounting what she had accomplished over these twenty-seven years.

She had only slept for five years before absorbing the Divine Power Crystal, not only replenishing the Divine Power lost during childbirth but also advancing to Apprentice Eighth Rank, just one small step away from the Divine Power of a Low-level God.

If she did well as a lake goddess and received an excellent evaluation, she could be promoted to Little River God in the next term, earning the salary of a Low-level God.

Hearing that she spent the last twenty years constantly traveling between lakes, day and night without rest, doing a hundred years’ worth of work in two decades, Mu Ying was flabbergasted, “Mom, don’t wear yourself out!”

Although Maeve’s mother appeared unchanged aside from her clothes, showing no signs of fatigue, Mu Ying was still a bit concerned.

“Tired?” Maeve shook her head, “Are you talking about the physical discomfort that races who can’t touch the Law experience after prolonged exertion? We are born from the Law; it works constantly, and so do we. We will never feel physical discomfort. We, the Divine Race, will only feel weak due to the loss of Divine Power; we will never feel unwell.”

Mu Ying didn’t know what to say anymore.

The Divine Race was born from the Law? Surely they weren’t created by the world’s Law just to help with its tasks!

They don’t need to eat or sleep, have long lifespans, and only slumber when absorbing Divine Power. If the Divine Race isn’t the chosen labor force, then who is?

“Mom, there’s no need to push yourself so hard. Work needs to be done, but you should also make friends and not suppress yourself too much. Good work is for a better life, after all. At least take a break after working for a while, combine work and leisure, and you’ll find work happier,” Mu Ying was a little concerned that Maeve’s mother was overexerting herself. “This coming month, why don’t you take me to play around the lakes in Creekwood Small World? Let’s relax properly.”

It’s a pity that the Divine Race can only eat food produced in the Divine Domain, otherwise she would find some delicious treats to cheer her mother up.

Now, she could only help her mother unwind or think of some fun games to enrich her daily life.

She needed to give this some careful thought.

Real-life had plenty of fun things, but recreating them here in a way that suited the Divine Race wasn’t easy. Making them would definitely require Divine Power, and Mu Ying still couldn’t manipulate the Divine Power within her at all.
