I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 545: 528: Sparring InvitationChapter 545: Chapter 528: Sparring Invitation

“Knowing that the Lord’s blood volume hadn’t dropped at all, my eyes can hardly refocus. The Lord must be using Draco to refine her close combat skills, right?” Edwin said with difficulty.

Xie Sen nodded, “That should be it. Look, she isn’t just being hit; she’s continuously refining her attacking methods too! It seems like she’s getting more proficient with her attacks against the Brown Bear.”

“Draco, who is rated first in physical attack, can’t land an effective hit on the Lord. Is SSS-tier defense really that impressive? No matter how much you hit, it just feels like tickling; it’s too secure!” Edwin said with undeniable envy.

“Draco’s physical attack items are only S-tier, right? That’s not a slight difference from SSS-tier, and besides, Draco isn’t even using his full strength, he hasn’t even used his broadaxe,” Liu Luoluo said, “The Lord is just too incredible!”

“Wow! That punch was a bit heavy, did Mu Ying lose any blood?” Edwin asked Li Luoxia.

“No,” Li Luoxia said.

Mu Ying’s blood volume was very steady, and Draco’s blood volume was slowly decreasing at a steady rate. Li Luoxia had been closely monitoring it. They had agreed prior to the fight that if either of them dropped below 80% blood volume, the fight would be stopped.

Although Draco couldn’t see Mu Ying’s blood volume, the fact that Li Luoxia hadn’t called a halt showed that Mu Ying’s blood volume was still safe. And even though she was knocked down multiple times, her movements were not hindered at all; there was no feeling of injury-induced sluggishness.

On the contrary, he himself got swept a few times, and Mu Ying smartly targeted the same spot every time, accumulating more impacts on him and causing some effects.

Luckily, his previous experience wandering the wilderness had significantly strengthened his pain tolerance; such minor injuries were still bearable for him.

Attack after attack, collision after collision, fist to flesh—the person and the bear were using all their skills.

This battle was not only a test of strength but also a challenge of stamina.

It was fortunate that she was in her Brown Bear form, which had far greater constitution than her human form; otherwise, such continuous, high-intensity combat would have exhausted her by now.

But now she seemed to grow stronger with each setback, making her attacks more and more fluent.

After several intense hours, Li Luoxia finally called a halt.

Mu Ying and Draco ceased fighting.

One was sprawled on the ground like a flattened bear pancake, the other was having an existential crisis.

Li Luoxia came over and cast a Healing Magic on Draco, replenishing his blood volume to full, then patted his shoulder, “Good work.”

Looking over at Mu Ying, there was a black and white Fur Ball lying on her belly, and a large one fluttering its wings running over to her, its large wings pressing on her like a giant blanket, rubbing against her.

Liu Luoluo and Zheng Jing’s eyes sparkled as they touched her bear paws.

“Doesn’t Mu Ying need any healing?” Draco, during the fight, slowly realized that Mu Ying’s injuries were likely not as severe as his, but she should still need some healing, shouldn’t she?

“Her blood volume is full,” Li Luoxia said.

This fact was somewhat cruel to Draco; shocked, he stared at the Brown Bear beside him. After a moment, he came to terms with it, thinking that the gap between S and SSS was indeed huge; it wasn’t strange for his S-tier attack items to fail to break through her SSS-tier defense.

But as a Barbarian, unable to match a Druid even in defense, and fighting for so long without managing to injure her at all, he felt quite ashamed.

Nevertheless, after this fight, he realized that his skills were not perfect, and there were many areas where he needed to improve.

Mu Ying originally wanted to laze around a bit longer, but there were too many handsy people and beasts around, so she reluctantly resumed her human form and gave Gungun a few fierce pats on the leg, “You’re getting too bold!”

Da Ming swiftly flapped his wings, trying to escape, but Mu Ying did not play favorites. Although Da Ming was large, under the master’s coercive power, he obediently covered his face with his wings and received the same spanking treatment.

Liu Luoluo and the others sheepishly retracted their hands, “Lord, your bear form looked too cuddly!”

“The brown bear in the northern orchard is just as cuddly; you can try petting that one,” Mu Ying suggested with mischief.

“...”

They decided to change the subject, “Lord, you’re basically invincible, right? You don’t lose any blood volume when attacked?”

“I didn’t expect my defense to reach such levels,” Mu Ying bragged a bit.

Honestly, it had been a long, long time since she had fought directly, and she had no clear concept of her current strength.

“But my melee skills are really subpar,” Mu Ying said helplessly.

Although she wasn’t injured at all, it was indisputable that she was at a disadvantage throughout the entire duel; she appeared to win, but in fact, she lost.

Since she had discovered her shortcomings, it was natural to overcome them.

“Draco, if I post a sparring task offering territory contribution and coins as rewards, would you spar with me and help improve my melee skills and abilities?” Mu Ying asked Draco, who was sitting beside her.

“Willingly!” Draco, who was drooling over the space ring in the Contribution Store, certainly wouldn’t refuse, and even eagerly welcomed it. Sparring like this would also be a great experience for him and would similarly benefit him.

Mu Ying smiled and immediately discussed the price with him, giving him a private long-term task, billing per duel session, essentially hiring herself a private coach.

The reward Mu Ying offered was very generous. Draco, despite not penetrating her defense, felt less frustrated; getting beaten wasn’t bad as long as there was money involved! There would be more opportunities in the future, and someday he would break through her defense!

“Lord, do you still need more sparring partners?” Edwin asked, his eyes gleaming with desire for that extra pay, which was more than venturing out to fight monsters and collect materials.

“I do; you’ll need to have a real fight with me first, pass the interview, then we can talk,” Mu Ying said, “I welcome anyone who can help improve my strength!”

She had also neglected this part of her training which she now realized she needed to focus on.

Upon hearing this, Edwin fell silent; he knew his own weight.

“Let me do it,” Atom said. He had been watching from the side and was very eager to take up the challenge.

All players were among the top ranks globally; it was impossible not to have a competitive spirit.

It used to be thought that the differences were only in professions and levels of difficulty in leveling, but high levels didn’t necessarily equate to strong combat abilities.

Mu Ying and Vinica, one a Druid and the other a Bard, were both considered to have slightly weaker combat due to their professions. But is that really the case?

If not for today’s duel, who would have thought that a Druid’s defense item could be so strong?

Atom didn’t think he was much stronger than Draco; he certainly couldn’t break through Mu Ying’s defense in her bear form, but he wanted to test her human form’s combat strength to see the scale of her speed and defense then.
