I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 505: 488: Out of the Forest?Chapter 505: Chapter 488: Out of the Forest?

“Mu Ying, how much longer until you open the Third Trial World?” Vinica asked.

“If nothing unexpected happens, it will take at most another month,” Mu Ying estimated, mainly because the prince’s convoy was moving too slowly.

That amount of time wasn’t too long. Vinica thought for a moment and said, “Then I’ll stay in Qingshan City for a while and go on my travels after you’ve opened the Third Trial World.”

“I can also stay in Qingshan City during this time,” Chisima Keiko said.

Only Maz couldn’t stay here for such a long time. His cultivation schedule was tight, and he still had many spells to learn.

“I’ll contact you later. Even if we’re not in the territory, we can still use the Dingling Flower to communicate,” Mu Ying said, teaching them how to use the Dingling Flower.

Maz was reassured now.

“You guys can go upstairs later and bind a rest room. That way, you won’t have to stay in a hotel. We’ve all bound ours already. The rooms with our names on the doorplates are ours,” Edwin strongly recommended.

They had just seen this benefit in their membership materials. They were all staying in hotels at the moment. If they could move in, living together with other trialists would be beneficial, as it would allow them to discuss trial issues more frequently.

The main issues had already been discussed, and Edwin then led them upstairs to choose their rooms.

Chisima Keiko chose room 304, and Maz and Atom chose rooms 203 and 204, respectively.

The men stayed on the second floor, and the women on the third floor.

While they were upstairs choosing rooms, Mu Ying went to the kitchen to cast Cooking Magic, making the whole kitchen come to life.

By the time they came down, Mu Ying had already returned to his seat on the sofa.

Everyone couldn’t help but look toward the open kitchen.

“No matter how many times I see it, I always find this magic amazing. It completely frees up your hands!” Li Luoxia said enviously.

“This is truly a blessing for people who can’t cook! If only you could convert this skill into a Skill Book, Mu Ying,” Vinica said.

Her profession required her to travel constantly, to witness the local customs everywhere, to sing songs. It sounded romantic, but living off the land was not an easy matter. Even with a carriage, dealing with meals was a troublesome inconvenience. Most of the time, she would just munch on dry rations.

“One of the prerequisites for learning this magic is that you must be able to cook, and the better you can cook, the better the effect of the magic,” Mu Ying shattered her illusions.

“Is this the ability you gained in the Second Trial World? You call it magic? It looks more like a spell!” Maz said, stroking his chin, feeling that this magic seemed only to be used for cooking, but it was more flexible than a spell.

After all, the steps in cooking are complicated and varied.

Mu Ying felt there was no need to hide too much and nodded, “Magic is more like the spells of magicians in reality, all originating from bloodline abilities. Only those with a witch bloodline can learn magic. I was just lucky to randomly get a witch’s trial role, and I converted the bloodline ability to reality at a very low cost. In my Second Trial World, there were very few witches.”

“That’s great!” Draco thought of himself: “My Second Trial World character was just an ordinary person. The only advantage was a bit more physical fitness, but that’s not something you can physically convert...”

He sighed, perhaps this was the gap between activating Source Power and perfect exploration.

Thinking about his aimless journey in the Second Trial World and looking at the current Trialists who seemed pretty decent, his desire to express surged.

He couldn’t concern himself with whether it should be kept confidential anymore, especially since he hadn’t figured out the situation himself. Telling others didn’t seem to make any difference, so why wait to discuss it privately later? Just ask directly!

Perhaps everyone could help him with some ideas. He was really frustrated; while fighting was his specialty, he was terrible with these intricate matters.

With a downcast face, he asked, “Do you have any way to avoid getting lost?”

“???”

In this environment, at this time, asking this question, Mu Ying couldn’t help but ask, “You didn’t get lost in the Trial World, did you?”

Seven pairs of eyes stared at him as if they were looking at some bizarre species.

Draco’s face turned red. The burly man, embarrassed, said, “The Second Trial World is very realistic but also too vast and completely unfamiliar. So... I got lost. But this time it wasn’t as unlucky as before. It wasn’t a desolate wasteland where birds wouldn’t even poop. My landing spot was in a forest, which had abundant resources. Although it was quite different from real forests, with many berries I didn’t dare eat, the wildlife, apart from being larger, was somewhat familiar. It’s just that I couldn’t find my way out of the forest and haven’t encountered anyone else. I don’t even know what this world is really like.”

It was tragic, getting lost in the Trial World.

The others started suggesting ideas to help him.

“You could determine direction by observing the growth of trees; the southern side is usually more lush.”

“What about using the sun, the moon, or the stars for directions?”

“Or maybe you could climb a tree and look from above to see which way leads out?”

...

There were indeed many methods, and they might be somewhat useful in reality, but Draco shook his head: “I’ve tried them; none worked.”

These common methods were deeply ingrained in his mind even before the apocalypse, but for him, they were essentially useless.

Mu Ying didn’t speak; she had witnessed Draco’s extraordinarily poor sense of direction, a man who could never find his way back to a hole in the wasteland once he left it. Getting him out of the forest was too much to ask.

“Instead of fussing about how to get out, you might as well focus on finding something valuable in the forest,” Mu Ying suggested. “Besides, what if your Second Trial World is entirely made up of Forest Land? Or perhaps the civilization in this world isn’t very advanced, and even the natives don’t know much about it? Instead of being eager to leave the forest, you might want to see what valuable things it has to offer.”

Draco was stunned; he hadn’t considered that possibility. “Now that you mention it, when I entered the Second Trial World, the character I was assigned was wearing a rough beast-skin skirt, similar to the one I made myself while wandering in the wasteland previously.”

He had worn such attire during his previous wanderings, which led him to overlook this issue. Now, it seemed likely this was due to the low level of civilization in that world.

“Didn’t you see the character’s identity when you chose it? Or didn’t you receive the character’s memories after obtaining it?”

Mu Ying remembered she had three characters to choose from initially, each with a clear identity, and had even received their prior memories.
