Chapter 510: 493 Third WorldChapter 510: Chapter 493 Third World

From that time on, all witches’ descendants were girls, but unlike today, a witch in her lifetime could give birth to more than just one daughter—her fertility far exceeded what it is now. Basically, as long as a witch wanted to conceive, she could.

Back then, the power of the witches’ bloodline was much stronger than it is now. However, due to the crude development and application of their abilities, control was insufficient and very unstable.

To procreate, witches needed to mate with men from other tribes, making it more difficult to conceal their identities when leaving the forest than it is now, exposing themselves with the slightest carelessness.

Furthermore, it was an era of war and strife—no one had easy times. Faced with individuals who possessed otherworldly powers, people would often rise up and attack them, blaming all injustices on these witches, and many witches were persecuted.

Eventually, they retreated back into the forest, only emerging to choose a male partner for procreation, after which they quickly returned to their woodland sanctuary.

This is how the number of witches slowly increased.

Hidden within the forest, they devoted themselves to research, and through generations of effort, the current witch heritage was established.

But as time passed, the power of the witches’ bloodline grew weaker with each generation.

It was only when a witch’s fertility decreased to the point where she had but one offspring in her life that the situation stabilized, and the line has continued to this day.

Mu Ying’s interest lay not in the common Green Witch Bloodline, but in that green gemstone on the original Eight-Colored Tree.

If she could recreate it and transform it for consumption, her bloodline power could ascend to another level.

This was different from integrating a new bloodline; it was simply an evolution of her existing bloodline, so there was no concern about her body exploding.

The Eight-Colored Tree was probably the most valuable thing in Emerald World. It appeared only once in history, and after its fruits were plucked, the tree withered away.

The value of recreating it was astounding, comparable to transforming the World Book, and not much less at 800,000 Source Power—not to mention the same amount of Source Power needed for its transformation.

Even just creating one green Eight-colored Fruit would consume 100,000 Source Power, and factoring in the physical transformation, it would require 200,000 Source Power in total.

The cost was significant, but still within reach for consideration, as it was very important for her strength advancement.

Historically, after the Primordial Witch, who consumed the green fruit, gained control over her power, she could command the rise and fall of a whole forest with a wave of her hand—an ability far beyond what green witches of today can accomplish.

According to the World Book, the initial Witch Forest was just a small woodland, nowhere near its current size, with the rest of the area being barren.

The Witch Forest as it is now came into being during the witch hunt era when the Primordial Witches, at the cost of their lifespans, created this natural haven for other witches. The rich natural resources of the Witch Forest came from the Primordial Witch who ate the green fruit.

It’s a pity that the first generation of witches was merely daughters of ordinary farming families who were illiterate. The events of that era were not recorded in writing and thus did not survive in textual form.

Mu Ying’s heart swelled with excitement. She wished she could copy this part of history and send it to the Witch Association or the Magic School. The pre-literacy era of the witches was not well-documented, and records about witches from that time were rare.

She even considered the idea of compiling a history for the witches or studying the witch heritage text in the World Book and documenting it to benefit all witches.

However, such a task would have to be undertaken gradually, and some records not suitable for public exposure would have to be omitted.

She felt there was plenty of work to do with the remaining 270-plus years of her witch character’s lifespan.

After a small gathering with Senior Sister Rosie and the others in Crystal City of the Undersea Kingdom, Mu Ying left Emerald World.

On the surface, she lingered in Emerald World for a few more days, but in reality, only about half an hour of Trial Time was spent.

It’s still midnight in the real world!

Mu Ying summoned the Player Manual, flipped to the trial interface, where several new prompt messages had already appeared.

[Your exploration score for the Second Trial World is 100%, with an S rating. Reward: Highly compatible Trial World and Trialist Character Selection Package. Would you like to start filtering for a highly compatible Trial World?]

As expected, she obtained a selection package for the Trial World and Trialist characters, just like the initial time.

This time around, Mu Ying was far more experienced than before, and through exchanges with other Trialists, she understood the importance of a good Trial World and Trialist character.

Last time, she began the trial rashly; this time she intended to be more cautious.

She sprang up from her bed, teleported back to her Magic Hut, filled the bath with hot water in the washroom, and indulged in a good soak. Afterward, she donned a clean and tidy robe and cast a Blessing Magic spell on herself with earnest.

“Bless me with a world and Trialist character that will greatly benefit me!”

With her buff stacked, it was time to draw!

[Filtering complete. Third Trial World: World of Gods is now open]

[Having opened the Third Trial World and become a seasoned Trialist, Source Power trading functionality is now unlocked, and the special Trial World: Ten Thousand Worlds Trial is now available.]

“World of Gods?” This name didn’t stir any familiar associations for Mu Ying, but the inclusion of “Gods” suggested a world of higher powers. It felt higher in terms of strength hierarchy.

The Source Power trading feature was represented by an icon resembling a golden scale, and clicking on it allowed for the trading of Source Power.

As long as one party has the Source Power trading feature, they can engage in trading Source Power.

However, the Source Power obtained through such trades differed from that earned in the Ten Thousand Worlds Trial.

[Source Power: 87310/95233]

There were two numbers in the Source Power section; Mu Ying had always assumed the first number represented current Source Power while the latter was the cumulative amount. Only after perusing the introduction to the Source Power trading function did she realize that was not the case.

The first number indeed showed current Source Power, but the second number was actually the Source Power earned by Trialists for their Mother Star within the Ten Thousand Worlds Trial.

It was previously indistinguishable from cumulative Source Power because there had been no other sources of Source Power.

Therefore, the current Source Power essentially served as a token for the Trialists, useful for trading and for the physical transformation within the Trial Worlds.

But the true earnings for their Mother Star were strictly the Source Power acquired through trials.

With this in mind, she could exploit the Source Power trading feature to earn Source Power for expenditures such as transforming the Fragmented World from Square World, or obtaining the World Book and green Eight-colored Fruit from Emerald World. She wouldn’t have to rely solely on the Source Power output of her Trial World.

As for how to earn Source Power, that was related to the newly unlocked special Trial World.

It was named Ten Thousand Worlds Trial, and even came with a description: “A world belonging to Trialists, where they can trade, accept trial tasks, and more.”
