I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 547: 530: Sparring Partner Number TwoChapter 547: Chapter 530: Sparring Partner Number Two

These habits were not particularly beneficial, and at the end of the day, it was because Mu Ying had too few real combat opportunities. She hadn’t mastered the application of spells in actual combat, so in situations that required on-the-spot reactions, she was unable to make the best decisions.

She was quick at learning spells, having methodically studied through the Druid’s Magic List and mastered every tier of spell, with her Spell Casting Speed being quite impressive, but the application was a major issue.

Mu Ying learned spells quickly, having methodically studied through the Druid’s Magic List and mastered every tier of spell, with her Spell Casting Speed being quite good.

Each time she opened her attribute panel, the number of spells under the spell section would make any spellcaster envious.

But what use was it?

Unless both sides were spellcasters, standing stationary and bombarding each other with spells honestly, but once she encountered speed-oriented contestants like Atom, who needed to create distance while preparing spells, she would become somewhat flustered.

In the past, Mu Ying’s support methods were plentiful, capable of flying, using a Magic Flying Carpet to hide her shape, and her enemies often came after collecting information and conducting investigations, with countermeasures already in mind, so this flaw wasn’t very obvious; only today did it become thoroughly exposed.

“Do I qualify? As a sparring partner,” Atom asked.

“Qualified, very qualified! You’ve been a great help to me today! It’s only now that I realize there’s a big problem in the application of my spells!” Mu Ying quickly responded.

Atom became reassured. Despite having the upper hand today, it was because Mu Ying had limited her own abilities; otherwise, she would just need to use a flight spell, and he would be forced to resort to ranged attacks.

He also lacked experience battling spellcasters, as he usually fought against Magic Beasts and wild beasts. Although Magic Beasts possess magic-like abilities, they usually have only one type.

Opponents with a rich array of spells like Mu Ying were rare for him, and being directly confronted with a spellcaster was very different from reading descriptions posted by other players on forums.

Generally, players wouldn’t fully disclose their profession’s skills and the effects of their spells on forums, so the information available was quite general and scattered.

He had seen information on spells that created a thick fog before, but only through his battle with Mu Ying today did he learn that the spellcaster’s own vision would not be affected by the fog.

Such opportunities to improve his understanding of spellcaster’s spells and earn money and contributions weren’t always available.

While he wasn’t in urgent need of a Space Ring, he was considering saving up contributions to have Mu Ying craft him a poisonous Magic Potion.

This type of poison would certainly be superior to the common wares found at grocery stores and clinics.

He walked the path of a one-hit kill, much like an assassin, and poison was very important to him.

“What’s happening? It sounds like they’re talking?” Edwin muttered.

Once the Cloud Mist Technique was used, the audience’s experience was greatly diminished.

“I don’t know, who do you think won this time, the Lord or Atom?” Xie Sen asked.

“The Lord, I’d say. I can’t even break through her defensive power. Even in human form, it can’t be too different. It’d be hard for Atom with his dagger to break through, right?” Draco said.

Li Luoxia shook her head, “That’s not necessarily true. Spellcasters have never feared power and defensive type opponents like Barbarians, nor do they fear spellcaster opponents; instead, it’s speed-oriented enemies that scare spellcasters the most. In the time it takes to cast a spell, speed-oriented professionals can do a lot.”

She herself had a deep understanding of this.

Wanderers like Atom, who appeared and disappeared unpredictably and also had a trait of low presence, were what spellcasters found most troublesome.

“The fog has cleared!” Liu Luoluo alerted.

Several people looked over and saw two individuals walking towards the edge of the arena.

“How was the fight?” Edwin asked.

“I lost!” Mu Ying said.

“How long has it been? Not even three minutes, right? And you’ve already determined the winner?” Draco looked at Atom as if he saw him in a new light.

Another Wanderer with an attack strong enough to break SSS-level defenses wouldn’t surprise him, as the leaderboard was filled with hidden dragons and crouching tigers.

Mu Ying waved her hand: “Atom was too fast. I only had time to cast two circle-1 spells, and his dagger was already at my throat. His stealth is like a ghostly apparition; look at the goosebumps I have, they haven’t gone down yet.”

“Can his dagger break through your defenses?” Draco asked.

“Without defensive equipment, it definitely can,” Mu Ying swore she was telling the absolute truth.

The Natural Bracelet was her piece of equipment, and the Guardian Armor was an ability of the Natural Bracelet. Although Little Red was her companion plant, when it transformed into the Thorny Battle Armor, it was almost like equipment as well.

Excluding these two factors, at that moment, she truly had no defenses; she hadn’t had time to apply the Stone Skin Technique to herself, so that dagger, even if it was a very ordinary iron dagger, could have drawn blood instantly.

“Druid’s Wild Transformation is really impressive,” Draco considered Mu Ying’s high defensive power to be the ability of her Brown Bear form.

Mu Ying did not explain further.

Edwin thought of something: “Can you cast spells while in Wild Transformation?”

Mu Ying shook her head: “No, I can’t.”

“Ah, if only you could cast spells while using Wild Transformation, that would be perfect, with both offense and defense covered!” Edwin said.

“If only it were so,” Mu Ying said, “but that’s impossible. When Druids undergo Wild Transformation, their attributes completely become those of the corresponding beast.

Aside from retaining their own consciousness and intelligence, they are basically no different from the actual beast, even the attribute panel changes to a different template.

Typically, beasts don’t have magic-like abilities, so how could they possibly inherit the spell-casting capabilities of a humanoid form?”

“So there’s no such thing as a perfect ability after all. Doomsday Game is pretty keen on maintaining balance,” Edwin sighed.

“Let’s go, I’ll treat you all to a meal,” Mu Ying said.

She had learned a lot from her two bouts today and was in a great mood.

Affected by the Witch Bloodline, whenever she was in high spirits, she wanted to eat delicious foods with her friends and have a feast.

“Awesome! I didn’t expect to not only join in on the fun but also get a free meal today!” Liu Luoluo said excitedly.

“Lord, will this place be open in the future?” Xie Sen asked, “Can we use this place for sparring with others later?”

Mu Ying shook her head: “I would like to open it up, but can you ensure that all fights are conducted with restraint and don’t cause irreparable harm? This venue allows for attacking each other, and it’s the only area within the territory not bound by the rule prohibiting harm to others.”
