I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 245 - 245 242 Exchange for Red Packet245: Chapter 242: Exchange for Red Packet 245: Chapter 242: Exchange for Red Packet Lily couldn’t help but adore the lantern.

It had successfully ascended to the rank of her most treasured possession.

Then, Lily gave Mu Ying all her glowing pearls, both big and small, “Take them, aside from this, I have nothing else!

Happy New Year!”

Mu Ying thought about it and decided to accept them.

She really needed it, as the ones she had exchanged with the mermaids had almost all been used up during the making of the Lamp Vine Permanent Magic Potion.

“Hehe, the three red envelopes I grabbed yesterday all contain Lamp Vine Flowers, I’m going to redeem them!” Lily wanted to pull Mu Ying along, but Mu Ying declined.

At a time when everyone was so enthusiastically engaged, she didn’t want to draw undue attention to herself by appearing in front of a large crowd.

Better to stay out of it.

At the Territory Specialty Store, a long, serpentine queue had formed.

Everyone was happily wishing each other a happy new year and then showing off the contents of their red envelopes.

Most items were well accounted for by everyone, except for the Lamp Vine Flower.

Old Mao only managed to get a single flower yesterday, making him the ultimate “African,” laughed at by even those who got a copper coin.

He had almost lost interest in redeeming his red envelope, had it not been for a lucky subordinate who got a bag of rice, prompting them all to rise early and queue at the very front.

When it was their turn, Old Mao still used his Lamp Vine Flower coupon.

“Congratulations, you’ve received a Lamp Vine Flower made personally by the Lord.

This flower never wilts, shines as brightly as a lamp, and can stay illuminated for a very long time,” the clerk congratulated him.

Old Mao accepted the little flower smaller than his palm with a dumbfounded expression, then quickly switched to holding it with both hands, “A real flower lamp?

That will stay lit for a very long time?”

“Boss, that’s a light bulb!” one of his subordinates said.

“Light bulb my ass, have you ever seen a light bulb that glows without electricity?

And it’s made by the Lord himself!” Old Mao retorted irritably.

“This thing is the grand prize.

It’s worth how many candles, and it’s easy to carry!”

He walked out proudly, carrying the Lamp Vine Flower in his hands.

“What did you get in your draw?”

“One silver coin?

Ah, man, your luck isn’t that great!”

“Look at this, a Long-lasting Lamp made personally by the Lord!”

“What?

You also got a Lamp Vine Flower?”

“Good buddy, your luck is just as good as mine!”

...

Thanks to Old Mao’s promotion, everyone became aware of what a Lamp Vine Flower was.

The wheel of fortune had turned; yesterday’s “African” had overnight become a “European,” utterly thrilled.

“Can I buy the Lamp Vine Flower?

Since it’s made personally by the Lord, it should count as a territory specialty, right?” someone inquired at the specialty store.

“Indeed, it is a territory specialty, available for purchase with either Territory Contribution or money.

To exchange with Territory Contribution, the first time costs 10 Contribution Points for one flower, the second time it’s 100 points, and so on.

To buy with money, it takes one Gold Coin to purchase a flower, and there’s a limited purchasing policy in place.

The supply is rather scarce, with only three flowers available for purchase with money per month,” the clerk explained.

“...” He arrived late, and to this day he only has a bit of Territory Contribution from farming, and not even a single Gold Coin in his savings.

“Me, me, me, I have Contribution Points, let me exchange for one,” someone shouted from behind.

At times like this, only the long-time residents of the territory could afford the Contribution Points.

Mu Ying resorted to this exchange method mainly because she had to make the item herself.

Although it was much easier to make than the Dingling Flower, she couldn’t sustain it if the supply demand became too great.

Limiting the exchange to Territory Contribution not only restricted the buying crowd to local residents, but it also kept people in the territory, increasing their enthusiasm for taking on territory tasks.

For the Local People, this meant the price wouldn’t be exorbitant to the point of deterring them, so that it wouldn’t end up as a luxury only a minority could afford.

As long as they stayed in the territory, worked hard and lived diligently, and completed a few territory tasks, they could earn enough Contribution Points.

People from other territories or those who hadn’t been in the territory long either had to stay and earnestly accumulate Contribution Points or they could only spend a Gold Coin, which again enhanced the Local People’s sense of identity and belonging.

Her initial intention for making this item was just to provide the Local People with a more convenient lighting tool, thereby staying true to her original purpose.

When the news spread to the forum, there was no shortage of protesters.

“Why do we have to pay a Gold Coin if we don’t have Territory Contribution?

That’s too expensive!

Who can afford that?”

“Isn’t this just targeting us outsiders?

And there are only three flowers available each month, not even luxury goods before the apocalypse were this exaggerated.”

“Protest!

Protest!

I suggest Qingshan Town lifts the purchasing restrictions.

It’s all about making money; wouldn’t it be the same with small profits and high sales volumes?

It would also attract more people to Qingshan Town.”

“Even if I save up a Gold Coin, I wouldn’t be foolish enough to spend so much on this thing.

Aren’t candles that cost a copper coin each just as good?”

“I’d rather use the Light Brightness Skill, it’s economical and environmentally friendly.”

“Hahaha, you sour chickens upstairs, why would our Lord bother giving benefits to outsiders?

Use your water-filled brains to think about it, do you think such flowers are easy to make?

Even at cost price, they couldn’t afford mass sales, let alone whether our Lord is the type to waste time for such small money.

Isn’t cultivation more fragrant?”

“The person above spoke the hard truth.

To put it simply, this is a welfare product the Lord is giving back to the Local People.

We shouldn’t even think about it.”

“Breaking news, the three Lamp Vine Flowers available for purchase with Gold Coins this month have already been snatched up by the Mermaid Clan.

They started fighting over the flowers in Moon Lake, splashing water all over me!”

“What do the mermaid sisters actually look like?

Calling the Doomsday Game planners, hurry up and update the forum.

You can’t even post pictures, it’s so inconvenient!”

“The one above is dreaming again.

Do you also want a camera to go with it?

Otherwise, where would you get the pictures from?”

“I must say, Mu Ying really is an incredibly conscientious lord.

The management of Qingshan Town might seem lax on the surface, but it’s actually simple and effective.

They never spout empty rhetoric, just get things done.

Who wouldn’t like such a lord?”

“Other territories’ lords need to step up!

Look at them, why are their welfare benefits so good?

If they don’t work harder, all their people are going to leave!”

“Sorry, I’m already packing up and leaving first.

Early bird gets the worm; I must take part in next year’s New Year event!”

“As someone who joined Qingshan Town early and slaved away for 10 Contribution Points during the previous farm clearing task, I’m quietly watching you all without speaking, holding the newly acquired Lamp Vine Flower in my hand.

This flower is indeed beautiful; you lot are unworthy!”

“Someone, drag the person above out and beat them to death, leave the flower behind!”

“Reporting in, death delivered, the flower is joyfully accepted by me!”
