I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 223 - 223 220 Coral and Clam Meat223: Chapter 220: Coral and Clam Meat 223: Chapter 220: Coral and Clam Meat Lily removed the stopper, and a soybean-sized drop of liquid escaped from the bottle without dispersing at all.

Then the droplet gradually grew larger as seawater mixed into it, and when it had become the size of a fist, Lily carefully took a small lock of her own hair and dipped the tip into the liquid ball.

Afterward, the liquid ball slowly became clear, and the ends of Lily’s hair gradually turned pinkish-purple.

“Oh my gosh, it really works!” Lily exclaimed with a hand over her mouth, then she poured out all the liquid, turning it into a large Water Ball and soaking all her hair in it.

Mu Ying knew she truly liked it and felt relieved.

“Yingying, let’s go out and gather some clam meat and coral to eat!” Lily said, looking forward to it as she fiddled with her newly dyed hair.

Mu Ying nodded her head; she also wanted to try the food of the Mermaid Clan.

But she had underestimated the merpeople’s pursuit of beauty.

The courteous merpeople from just a short time ago were now in an uproar over Lily’s pinkish-purple hair.

The merpeople’s hair was all blue, and only their tails could show different colors; not a single mermaid could resist the temptation of having hair the same color as their tails.

She never expected that her unsuccessful hair dyeing magic potion business in the Emerald World and territory would take off here.

The mermaids desired color combinations she could provide, but she didn’t have that much stock.

The assortment of large and small Glowing Pearls they offered, though, Mu Ying found quite desirable.

Some of the larger pearls could even serve as small light bulbs; however, such pearls were rare, and there were also those who directly offered Gold Coins, clearly indicating that the Mermaid Clan was not short on money.

So Mu Ying ended up with a lengthy Seaweed Paper order list.

Lily insisted on showing her around the entire village, and in the end, her self-cultivated coral and farmed shells were located just behind her cavern.

By this point, what else was there for Mu Ying not to understand?

Gathering clam meat and coral was secondary; the main event was showing off the new color of her hair.

Lily led her through the Shell Cottage fields, picking up a few Pearl Clams which they strung into two strands with seaweed ropes and then cut off two small pieces of coral.

Mu Ying was curious about how these ingredients would be processed underwater.

To her surprise, Lily handed her one of the strands of Pearl Clams and one piece of coral, and then declared, “Time to eat!”

She bit into a small piece of coral in her hand, frowned, and swallowed it, “Priestess Granny says that young hatchlings shouldn’t be picky eaters.

Even if you don’t like eating coral, you should have a bit with every meal.

I really don’t understand why some adult mermaids favor it so much.

If you don’t like it, just eat this small piece; you can’t be picky, okay?”

Mu Ying held a branch-like piece of coral in her hand, wondering how this was any different from chewing bark.

Lily seemed eager to see her eat it, so Mu Ying reluctantly took a small bite.

How should she put it?

Right now, she had the body and taste buds of an Elf and a green witch, and apart from fruit, she didn’t tend to eat other things raw.

As for the coral, it wasn’t as exaggerated as tree bark—it was crunchy, slightly sticky, and had a hint of bitterness.

It was mainly the sticky sensation that made Mu Ying frown a bit.

“See, I told you hatchlings don’t like eating coral.

I always gulp it down quickly because it’s so bitter.

Clam meat is much tastier,” Lily said, opening one of the Pearl Clams.

Mu Ying: “...”

Don’t tell me the clam meat is eaten raw too?

Lily controlled the water, dug out a bundle of clam meat, and played with it like it was molding clay for a while before taking a bite, and then chewed with puffed cheeks.

If Mu Ying were still in her turtle form, she wouldn’t reject it; she ate raw fish, but in her human form, it might be a bit hard to stomach.

“Come on, eat up, the meat is really tasty,” said Lily, seeing her motionless, she even kindly pried open a pearl clam for her.

Mu Ying shook her head, “I still prefer cooked food.”

“What is cooked food?” Lily asked curiously.

“It’s when you use a torch to cook the food before eating it, especially meat.

Our sense of taste might be a bit different from your aquatic race.

Items like fish and clam meat would taste fishy to us if eaten raw,” Mu Ying explained.

Lily seemed to have heard something incredible, “Fire!

Is that the thing that can make water disappear?”

Mu Ying nodded.

“How can you eat something as scary as fire?” said Lily, her face full of disbelief.

“It’s not eating fire,” Mu Ying thought for a moment, then asked her, “Can mermaids live in freshwater?”

“Of course,” Lily replied.

Mu Ying nodded and said, “Let’s cut a few more pieces of coral, and I’ll prepare it for you using our methods,” seeing Lily’s face scrunch up at the idea of eating coral, she added, “and clam meat too.”

Lily immediately brightened up, not only cutting a few pieces of coral but also catching a few more pearl clams.

The two returned to Lily’s cave, and Mu Ying said, “Later on we’ll go to the room I brought with me.

It can keep out seawater but has a hot spring pool.

I’ve lowered the temperature of the water so that you can stay there for a bit.”

Mu Ying had decided to reveal her Space Travel Box only after having seen Lily’s shell room.

Her small room was space-wise different from its outside appearance, yet showed no sign of artificial carving, appearing completely natural.

Moreover, the shell’s shape was rather large and not easy to move, but its interior space was slightly smaller than Mu Ying’s box.

But all in all, it was quite similar to her own Space Travel Box; the interior decorations were secondary, the box’s most special feature was the expanded space inside.

The Mermaid Clan having these shell rooms surely wouldn’t be too surprised by this.

“A room?

Yingying, are you going to show me your home?” Lily was very excited.

“Where is it, where is it?

Are you going to sneak me out of the instance?”

Mu Ying shook her head; how did this girl always think about sneaking out?

“It’s not outside, it’s just like your Shell Cottage; I also have a small home that I carry with me.

Let’s first go to your house, and I’ll take you to see it,” Mu Ying explained.

“Oh, I see,” Lily’s disappointment was so obvious, even a fool could see it.

“Don’t keep thinking about sneaking out, there are many bad guys outside, and you have to be careful not to come back if you go.

Listen more to what the elders say, and if you’re really curious, I can take you to my territory to play later,” Mu Ying couldn’t refrain from reminding her, Lily’s curiosity was just too strong.

This time, Lily was truly happy.

“Really?”

Mu Ying nodded, thinking to herself that it might not be necessary for her to take Lily since she might be able to go on her own.

She wasn’t just here to casually visit the Mermaid Clan; their wealth and power seemed to even surpass that of the Half-Breeds, and they were very fond of pretty things.

Life essentials were not as abundant as on land, and Mu Ying felt it would be a loss not to make some money from it.

It was just that the Mermaid Clan was self-sufficient, protected by the Sea Forest, and rather homebound, with Lily being the exception.

But using the Sub-camp to secure this instance would probably require more bargaining chips, and more careful planning was needed.
