I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 242 - 242 239 Red Packet Rain (Push for more~)242: Chapter 239 Red Packet Rain (Push for more~) 242: Chapter 239 Red Packet Rain (Push for more~) As it neared midnight, the frolicking Sky Wolves and Gungun finally knew it was time to come back.

The adult Sky Wolves, upon seeing that familiar figure on the sofa, first couldn’t believe their eyes, then rushed over like mad.

Among them, Da Hui was especially dramatic, the first to cling onto Shi Yin’s leg and “howling” nonstop like a little wolf cub, his eyes already brimming with tears.

Before, it had always been a little crybaby that followed timidly behind Shi Yin!

Since Shi Yin had disappeared and the apocalypse had arrived, it had no choice but to take on the responsibility of leading the Wolf Pack, and at this moment, all its alpha wolf’s dignity was gone.

The young wolves had never seen Shi Yin before, but being Sky Wolves, they also possessed a bit of Space Power and felt very close to Shi Yin’s scent.

Now, they also joined in the excitement, stepping on the bodies of their elders, trying to climb onto Shi Yin.

Shi Yin disapprovingly shoved them all off.

Of everyone present, only Gungun and the three Gem Fairies on its back were utterly baffled.

Who is this?

Why is the Master/Mom lying on his lap allowing him to stroke her fur?

“It’s getting late, I should go,” Shi Yin said and then reverted to his wolf form.

Mu Ying walked beside him, and the pair of wolves, one silver and one white, made their way back to the balcony.

Head against head, they whispered their final goodbyes.

The Sky Wolves watched them from below.

The Silver Wolf turned around and embraced the White Wolf, their necks intertwining, “Howl (Happy Birthday)~”

“Howl (Happy Birthday)~,” the White Wolf nuzzled his neck in response.

The Silver Wolf turned and entered the Light Gate, and as he disappeared, the small building block Light Gate collapsed too, the Wolf Brush falling onto Mu Ying’s paw.

“Howl~” Da Hui led the Wolf Pack in a long howl as a farewell to their king.

The howling of wolves rose and fell in waves.

Mu Ying reverted to human form, touched the spot where the Light Gate had been, feeling lost, as if a piece of her was missing.

It suddenly felt a lot colder at home.

“Dingling~ Dingling~” The Dingling Flowers hanging in the living room started to chime.

She snapped back to reality, standing up abruptly, “Oh no, the red envelopes!”

She teleported to the nearby cottage’s storeroom and evenly distributed the mountain of red envelopes piled there across the Main Territory.

......

Qingshan Town, Main Territory.

With half an hour to go until midnight, players who had been enjoying the lantern festival in the Undersea Corridor, those watching the New Year’s plays with extra shows at the Mushroom Man Theater, and those exploring the snack street at the Half-Breed Camp all gradually made their way back to the Main Territory.

All the Half-Breeds, Mushroom Men, and mermaids that could exit the instance, and even the Territory’s NPCs were all waiting in the Main Territory’s forest.

“10, 9, 8...3, 2...”

“1!”

“???”

“Where are the red envelopes?”

“Just wait a bit more...”

“Here they come, here they come!”

The red envelopes, decorated with Fluorescent Powder, fell like little stars.

“Ah ah ah, mine, mine, all mine!”

“Haha, I got one!”

“I grabbed 3!”

“There’s one here!”

The nighttime forest exploded into excitement, the ground alive with joyful laughter and chatter.

“The red envelopes are so thin and small.”

“There’s a slip of paper inside the red envelope!”

“Wow!

I got money!” someone unfolded the slip and read aloud, “Dear Local People, Happy New Year, you have won a copper coin exchange coupon valued at 3, the red envelope surprise can be exchanged at the Territory Specialty Store the next day.”

“I got a huge cabbage!”

“10 fruit radishes!

I love eating these!”

“A hundred pounds of green potatoes, haha, we can eat till the start of spring now!”

“Haha, I got territory contribution points!”

“How many points?”

“One point!”

“Pfft~”

“Oh my, a silver coin!”

“I drew a red hair dye potion!

Can’t hide it anymore, can I?

I’m the Sakuragi Hanamichi of Qingshan Town!”

“Ew!”

“One Lamp Vine Flower?

What’s that?

Who’s heard of it?”

“I also drew this flower, what the heck is this?”

“It might just be some wild flower, haha!”

“Spit, you think the Lord is as stingy as you?!”

“The Lord isn’t stingy, but you sure can be unlucky!”

Apart from the local players, shop owners from outside and friendly races from instance zones joined the scramble for red packets.

They had never experienced such a New Year’s tradition, but they integrated well and hit it off with the players.

Though economically they were generally better off than the players and most of the items in the red packets were just small gifts for them, the addiction of scrambling together, then opening the packets with anticipation, and showing off to each other, was irresistible.

“Dad, Mom!

I got a silver coin!” Little Tom said ecstatically to Mrs.

Sela.

Uncle Sela took a look at his prize coupon, “It’s really a silver coin, Dad will help you exchange it tomorrow and save it for you.”

Little Tom pursed his lips, “Xiao Gang brother said that money saved by kids just becomes the adults’ money!”

Uncle Sela touched his nose, “What are you talking about, our family doesn’t do that.”

...

“Aisha, what did you get in your red packet?” Penny leaned over to Aisha and peeked, “A Lamp Vine Flower?

Hahaha, at least I got a copper coin, this time it’s your turn to have bad luck, or should I say, an unlucky face?”

Aisha: “...”

She thought she was also unlucky this time, getting a flower that everyone said was very ordinary, but hearing the normally unlucky Penny say this, she suddenly felt confident that the flower must be more precious than a copper coin; there were way more people who drew a copper coin than those who drew the flower.

She was looking forward to seeing Penny getting slapped in the face when it came to exchanging the prizes tomorrow.

...

The blacksmith Old Uncle Rub sneaked a look at his youngest son Paul and Cheng Wei whispering to each other, berating his eldest son in frustration, “Your brother has got himself a girlfriend, what about you?”

“I only love big swords and weapons, women?

I don’t care for them!” Curry snorted.

“Heh, if your old man didn’t care for women either, who knows where you’d be right now!” Old Uncle Rub scoffed.

...

“Marin, this is the red packet I grabbed for you,” Bruce stuffed the two red packets he had grabbed into Mrs.

Marlin’s hands.

Mrs.

Marlin chided him, “Alright, keep them for yourself, stop being so mushy!”

...

On the roof of the Oak Grocery Store, Wuyaya, taking advantage of the ability to fly, monopolized five red packets and arrogantly opened them with its claws.

“...A copper coin exchange coupon with a face value of 1...”

“...A copper coin exchange coupon with a face value of 1...”

All were copper coin exchange coupons for 1 copper coin!

Wuyaya stomped furiously on those red packets, as angry as a crow could be!

Half-Breeds, being short, had an advantage as they weaved through the crowd, snagging many hard-to-reach red packets first.

The mermaids took over Moon Lake, and all the red packets that fell in that area were scooped up by them.

In short, at this very moment when the rain of red packets descended, the boundaries between the territory’s players and these outsiders were blurred; they were all just ordinary members of Qingshan Town, feeling a sense of belonging to the territory.
