I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 219 - 219 216 Pearl Clam219: Chapter 216 Pearl Clam 219: Chapter 216 Pearl Clam The territory map offered no solutions, so Mu Ying’s only ability to address her living problems was the green witch’s Herbal Cultivation Skill, naturally leading her to find ways to study plants.

She had started researching before graduation and had some success, cultivating a type of Magic Plant that could be used for illumination—the Lamp Vine she had previously planted on her room’s balcony.

However, one issue with the Lamp Vine was its flowers provided illumination, an effect that could even rival the Light Brightness Skill.

The seeds of the Lamp Vine, nurtured with Magic Infection and care, could perfectly inherit the mother plant’s characteristics.

But without the use of Magic Power in cultivation, the grown Lamp Vine would only produce seeds without vitality, unable to be propagated.

It felt similar to hybrid rice.

But as long as she planted a Lamp Vine in her territory, the Local People would only need to come and collect seeds annually for planting.

This vine was like a weed, tenacious in its Life Force, very easy to cultivate, and could also be planted indoors using a flower pot.

The Lamp Vine seemed perfect and met all her requirements, but its blooming period lasted only one month.

She herself could use Magic Power to induce blooming and make it flower instantly, but the Local People couldn’t, so it was considered a failure, only usable by herself.

In the time before she graduated, she gained a new perspective from permanently fixing the Dingling Flower with Permanent Magic Potion; she was still researching how to also solidify the Lamp Vine Flower during its blooming period, turning it into a permanent plant lantern.

The Permanent Magic Potion used for Dingling Flower was specifically designed for it and couldn’t be directly applied to Lamp Vine, as the Magic Potion components needed to be adjusted according to Lamp Vine’s characteristics.

Progress in this research was still not significant.

Due to the time difference between reality and Trial World, and because abilities from reality couldn’t be brought into Trial World, she had to learn and research all abilities related to the green witch in Emerald World, only bringing results into reality.

So at this moment, she hadn’t even planted Lamp Vine in reality.

This pearl capable of sustained illumination gave Mu Ying hope.

It wasn’t about using the pearls for illumination directly, since the glow of the pearls wasn’t bright enough to illuminate on their own, but rather using the pearls’ fluorescent material as a stabilizer in the Lamp Vine’s Permanent Magic Potion.

The luminescent feature of the Lamp Vine is unique to its flowering period but not very stable, a more stable illuminating substance must be added to the Permanent Magic Potion to compensate for this deficiency.

Unlike Dingling Flowers, whose inter-flower communication is innate and stable, in actuality, even without solidification using Permanent Magic Potion, a picked Dingling Flower could be used as a phone while blooming, though not preserved for more than a few days.

But with Lamp Vine, once picked and losing the support of the vine, the glow would fade gradually; this was because the luminescent property of Lamp Vine flowers was not stable enough.

This characteristic was common to all glowing plants—Night Light Plants behaved the same way as Lamp Vine, and even paint made of Fluorescent Material for buildings would oxidize and dim over time; the Half-Breeds had to reapply it annually.

Mu Ying had always been searching for a stable and easily obtained Fluorescent Material at an affordable cost.

She didn’t need this stable Fluorescent Material to emit a very bright light; the Lamp Vine had no problem in terms of brightness, as long as the light it emitted lasted long enough.

These luminescent pearls were merely by-products created inside the bodies of Pearl Clams; perhaps it was because of the Pearl Clams that the luminous feature emerged, but the connection didn’t seem very strong, so it should be more stable.

She had been observing here for over two days; each Pearl Clam had opened up at least once.

The larger, brighter pearls were absent in this patch of clam shells, but every one of them had luminescent pearls inside.

It appeared to be a common characteristic.

For so long, the Pearl Clams had shown no sign of any attack abilities; the pearls within their bellies were their only special feature.

However, Mu Ying still played her role as a turtle, not rushing to make a move, and she hadn’t even transformed back into human form to probe the situation with the Pearl Clams.

It was because she discovered a Replica gate among the clumps of young saplings in the middle of the clams, a Light Gate of the same color as the seawater, barely visible beneath the glow emitted by the Pearl Clams.

Occasionally, a few small Pearl Clams would shuffle out from the Replica, as well as a Hermit Crab, two jellyfish, and a school of fish that swam in; the Tiger Shark that had arrived earlier had also just entered.

Mu Ying was waiting, waiting to see if they could come back out.

If the Pearl Clams could come out from inside, it certainly meant that the inside was similar to the ocean outside.

If the other creatures that went in didn’t come back out, then there might be other dangers inside, and the Pearl Clams definitely weren’t the only feature of this Replica.

Why did she think that the Pearl Clams all came from this Replica?

Because she noticed that some of the clams freshly emerging were spitting out little sprouting seeds, which looked very similar to those saplings by their budding leaves.

The origin of these strange marine saplings was now obvious.

Pearl Clams that plant trees—quite novel indeed.

These trees definitely weren’t planted by the clams spontaneously.

After spitting out the seeds, they would slowly move to a more spacious area with less plant cover, a clear preference over the spots with young saplings.

This resulted in the Replica gate being encircled by a loose ring of young saplings, with the Pearl Clams nested outside of it.

Since these trees didn’t seem to be of any use to them, it’s certain they wouldn’t plant them intentionally.

And where did all these saplings come from anyway?

Could the Pearl Clams also breed?

Overall, Mu Ying was still more inclined to think that there was another master of the Replica, but what was peculiar was that they didn’t seem keen on coming out.

It was unknown why.

Perhaps their living habits were similar to that of the Mushroom Men, very home-bound, or they were timid and the outside world filled them with fear, so they sent out the Pearl Clams to probe.

As a turtle, Mu Ying had all the patience in the world to wait a bit longer.

A day passed before she saw a Hermit Crab emerge from the Replica gate, with a small blue fruit attached to its shell.

That shade of blue—Mu Ying looked at the color of the veins in the leaves of the patch of saplings—it seemed very similar and was likely the fruit of those trees.

The fruit on the Hermit Crab probably got attached by accident, suggesting that there might be similar trees on the other side of the Replica, perhaps even older trees that had borne fruit.

The other side wouldn’t happen to be an undersea forest, would it?

Mu Ying speculated.

She decided to test the waters by swimming over the tops of the Pearl Clams, deliberately swimming very low, well below the comfortable distance between them.

If the Pearl Clams had any attack ability, at such proximity, they would have certainly warned her by now.

But no, they just clammed up tightly—it seemed her previous guess was correct: The only peculiarity was the luminous pearls within their bellies.

Continuing to swim forward, she approached the sapling area, with nothing out of the ordinary occurring.
