I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 208 - 208 205 Plant Growth208: Chapter 205: Plant Growth 208: Chapter 205: Plant Growth In the past, she had been wholly focused on practicing Wild Transformation, which caused her study of spells to be long delayed; there were still some third-ring spells that she had not mastered.

In addition, this time she had also obtained some plant seeds from Emerald World, which needed to be cultivated.

Mu Ying would spend the coming days cultivating in the territory.

She was already quite skilled at planting Dingling Flowers, having done it twice before; but these plants were delicate and couldn’t grow without the nourishment of magic power, so she had to care for them diligently.

Unlike Binding Vines and Gem Trees, these flowers were not her original research project, so at best, the successful planting merely awarded a considerable amount of professional experience and did not reward a large amount of experience at the moment of germination.

But Mu Ying found that the experience gained each time she cared for them was substantial.

[You have planted a special plant and gained 20 Professional Experience Points]

[You have cared for a special plant and gained 5 Professional Experience Points]

...

The plant seeds she brought back from Emerald World were either herbs needed to concoct magic potions or magical plants she had attempted to plant in Emerald World.

Depending on the difficulty of planting each plant, the experience value for a first successful planting generally ranged from 10 to 20 points.

Accumulated bit by bit, Mu Ying’s experience was rapidly increasing.

Since she was often at the Plantation, she picked out the remaining plant-related spells from the third-ring spells to study.

The spell ‘Plant Growth’ was described to Mu Ying as having effects similar to those of plant magic that induced the growth of plants.

Previously, she had felt that there were alternative abilities available, which is why she had postponed its study.

Now, having learned it, she discovered differences.

Plant magic that induced the growth of plants had both a short-term, immediate effect and a long-term nourishing effect.

Plant Growth was similar; its short-term effects were akin to those of plant magic, but its long-term nurturing was quite different.

In terms of long-term nurturing, plant magic acted on the plants themselves, using magic power to nourish them slowly.

However, Plant Growth acted on the soil, making the enchanted land more fertile.

In the following year, plants grown here would be more lush, yielding double the normal crop at harvest time.

But compared to the short-term effect, the long-term nurturing effect of Plant Growth required a significantly long spell casting time, a full eight hours.

Currently, the range of effect was about half a mile from the spellcaster, or over two hundred meters.

Understanding this effect, Mu Ying’s enthusiasm for this spell surged tremendously.

What was eight hours?

If it could produce double the yield, she would go all out to cast it over the entire Plantation, greatly increasing the land utilization.

If this were done every year, the territory would have bountiful harvests annually, and wouldn’t the land of the Plantation become highly desirable?

Up to this day, the land of the Plantation could not support the entire population of the territory.

The main source of food for residents was still purchasing from shops.

Though it contributed significantly to her tax revenue, she still felt this structure was precarious.

Where did the shop’s food come from?

It was either the inventory brought by the shop owners when they moved in or goods imported from outside Deep Blue Star with whom they maintained contact.

Talking about natural ecological relationships, most of the residents in her territory were still consumers.

Consumers might seem to be in an advantageous position, but in reality, once there was a problem on the producer’s side, the impact on the consumers was tremendous because they depended on the output of the producers.

Mu Ying hoped that both her territory and its residents could assume the role of producers, making others depend on them rather than relying on others.

In short, she wanted independence; only then could they stand firm against any storm.

The first priority of survival was to have enough to eat, a.k.a.

food security.

After the apocalypse, farmlands were largely abandoned.

It was only due to the rain before, which caused a significant evolution in plants and increased their lushness, that people could find many edible resources in the wild.

But what about next year or the year after?

Solely relying on wild resources was merely exhausting an asset, which could also destroy the ecosystem.

After all, it still came down to planting.

However, the wilderness was not safe, with a high density of wild beasts and monsters.

Clearing the wilderness for farming could result in the land being destroyed by wild animals, and the farmers themselves could face danger.

The Plantation was an idea that Mu Ying had come up with as a countermeasure, but due to the limitation of area, the residents who rented could only plant some vegetables for their own consumption or for sale.

The appearance of Plant Growth was simply a solution to the worries she had always harbored in her heart.

She immediately had new ideas for the territory.

She built another camp on the original site of Qingshan Town, then renamed the previous Plantation to Private Plantation, and named the new one Public Farm Camp.

She also erected a notice board for it while rearranging the order of the other notice boards, placing it third, right after the announcements for Resident Identity Card and before the Plantation announcements, at the forefront of all sub-camps.

At the same time, she issued a territory task.

[Territory Task: Reclamation of the Farm Camp]

[Task Description: Help with reclamation at the Public Farm Camp]

[Task Reward: Reclaim 1 plot of farmland, reward 2 Contribution Points, 8 copper coins]

[Task Requirements: The farmland reclamation must meet standards]

[Task Duration: Immediate]

“There’s a new task!”

“2 Contribution Points, 8 copper coins, that rounds up to 10 copper coins, a plot of land isn’t very big, but what is this Public Farm Camp?

Why haven’t I heard about it?”

“Wait, I remember the territory task notice board was a bit more to the left before.”

Someone immediately went forward to check.

“Look, the Plantation’s name has been changed to Private Plantation!”

“And there’s an additional notice!”

Someone read it aloud, “Effective immediately, Lord Mu Ying will go to various locations in the Private Plantation to cast beneficial spells that will double the crop output next year.

The selected spell casting locations and dates are as follows: Plot 1 (11.8), Plot 4 (11.9)...”

On the day of spell casting, please grant Lord Mu Ying timely access to your private farmland.

This round of spell casting will cover all land in the Private Plantation, please strive to plant diligently next year.”

“My god, what kind of spell is this?

Double the output, that’s incredible!”

“This is what Druids are!

Although I’ve never seen the Lord’s plantation, based on the daily discounted vegetables at the Territory Specialty Store, you can tell how well the Lord’s land produces.

Now we can get a piece of that too!”

“No way, has the land rental at the Private Plantation been taken up yet?

I need to hurry and rent a plot, double the output for a year, even a fool could make money.”

“Hey!

Weren’t you guys looking for the newly emerged sub-camp?

It’s right next door!”

“If we don’t hurry, I’m afraid there will be nothing left, I’m teleporting there directly!”

“Crazy, just crazy!”

“Pfft, you’re only this calm because you’ve already rented a plot, right?

Don’t think I don’t know, each person in your team has rented one, you guys are probably going to make a killing this time.”
