I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 212 - 212 209 Black Robe Gathering212: Chapter 209: Black Robe Gathering 212: Chapter 209: Black Robe Gathering The Contraceptive Potion’s effect, once verified, quickly became a sensation, with the waiting list of residents extending into several weeks.

Alas, Mu Ying was recently busy casting spells on the land during the day and brewing Magic Potions at night.

There was a limited supply, and she couldn’t afford to work all night like she did on the first day anymore.

That first day was also to quickly awaken the residents’ awareness.

Now that everyone knew there was a foolproof way to prevent pregnancy, controlling it for a short period wasn’t a problem.

The territory was abuzz with praise, especially as more and more residents saw Mu Ying casting spells for a whole day in the private plantation, then putting up new potions on the shelf the next day.

Mu Ying rarely showed signs of fatigue in front of the residents, which made more of them feel concerned for her.

One early morning, before dawn—when Bruce Tavern, usually closed in the mornings and open in the afternoons and evenings, would see players cloaked in black robes sneaking in.

If one pressed an ear against the wall, discussions could be heard nonstop from inside.

“The kid is trying too hard, mom is so heartbroken!

Really want to tell her not to wear herself out.”

“Wuwu, the kid must be doing this because she was abandoned when she was young.

She wants all kids to be born into their parents’ expectations.

She’s too good.”

“I went to spy on the kid casting spells yesterday, and she stood there for 8 hours ah, didn’t even eat lunch, and got dark circles under her eyes.”

“Can we tell the kid to slow down?

We can wait.

I am so afraid she will get sick from overwork.”

“The kid is so tired, doing all these things, and it doesn’t benefit her personally at all—it’s all for the territory.

She should be carefree in an ivory tower, but now she’s here protecting us adults.

This is what she wants to do.

So we, as parents of the Mu Ying Support Club, even if we feel heartache, must fully support her work.

We should silently help her maintain the stability of the territory, especially be mindful of public opinion.

We can’t let her efforts be discredited.

In the meantime, we can take turns on shifts, guarding the kid when she’s casting spells.

Those on morning and evening shifts should bring some tasty food so she has something to eat as soon as she finishes her work.

Mu Ying won’t just take our things, so those who can, thank her with the identity of a land-tenant.

Based on previous trials, she will not refuse.

Those who can’t afford it should bring something of little value—something that doesn’t seem worth mentioning.

Make absolutely sure not to burden her, all right?”

The person who seemed to be the organizer of the event said this, and although he was disguising his voice, by his build, he was clearly a man.

After the meeting concluded, the gathered individuals left one by one.

In the past few days, Mu Ying was watched by two or three people every time she cast spells.

After so many days had passed, those simply there out of curiosity had lost interest, leaving only two or three who seemed completely normal, and each time they were different people, both men and women included.

Mu Ying didn’t think much of it at first, until they unanimously began bringing food.

Some said that they rented the land and were very grateful to her.

They would buy an extra portion of breakfast or dinner to offer to her.

Though Mu Ying had already eaten breakfast before arriving and had filled up in anticipation of skipping lunch, she declined.

But she couldn’t refuse the dinner—they weren’t expensive items and did help to satiate her hunger.

Others said they made some snacks themselves and, knowing of her proficiency in cooking, asked her to taste them.

Mu Ying accepted these, as she also enjoyed such things, and the amount wasn’t much.

It wasn’t bothersome just to try them, and the faces were familiar from the territory, so there was no worry of being poisoned.

Of course, she didn’t forget to quietly check for any toxins before eating.

The first two types seemed reasonable, and over a short time, no abnormalities were noticed.

They likely made Mu Ying feel that her efforts were remembered by the Local People, or that it was becoming trendy for them to make their own snacks.

But the last type, someone who was sitting on the ground, nibbling on pastries in the morning when she arrived to cast spells, offered her a piece, then in the evening after she finished casting, that same packet of pastries was still not finished, and again they offered her a piece.

So Mu Ying associated these people together, there’s something off about them!

Something else must have happened in the territory that she didn’t know about.

When she’s out of the loop, she heads to the forums to look for clues.

On the forums, players from other regions were even more envious of Qingshan Town players, but there were also those who felt psychologically unbalanced.

Mu Ying usually found these ridiculous comments amusing and could eat more while reading the snide remarks, simply because she thought these people were pitiable, and usually, she wouldn’t bother with them.

These past few days she had been so busy that she barely had time to eat, let alone browse through all that stuff.

But now, she noticed something amiss.

“Why can only local people enjoy it for free, when the contraceptive problem is serious in other places too?

They say they wish for every child to be born into the welcoming arms of their parents, but does that mean only the children of Qingshan Town count as children?

What about the kids from other places?

With such high prices, how many outsiders can afford it?

If you ask me, they should either lower the price, not a copper coin more than one, or make the formula of the potion public!”

“Shut your mouth, all the crap spewing out of it.

Just to meet the needs of our territory’s residents, the Lord gets up at dawn and toils until dusk, casting spells on the fields during the day and brewing potions at night.

To reduce the price for you clueless folks?

Do you even deserve it?

I hope she raises the prices for the people of the territory.

Otherwise, after working so hard, she would earn nothing.

It pains me to watch.”

“And to reveal the potion formula?

If you have the guts, post your name and address, and see if I can’t crawl through the internet cable to whittle you down!”

“Other places’ kids are kids, and our little ones aren’t?

How old is she?

Why should she foot the bill for you parasites who can’t control your own bodies?”

...

“One silver coin is indeed a bit expensive.”

“Expensive?

A potion that provides permanent contraception with a single dose, without needing a Fertility Potion.

Even if you save just one copper coin a day, you could afford it in three or four months.

If you can’t save up even that little, what are you thinking pursuing women?”

“Those who find it expensive just shouldn’t buy it.

I hope the Lord stops selling it outside.

Brewing potions is so tiring.

She owns such a vast territory, why should she bother earning this hard money?”

...

“This potion is so miraculous, I feel it’s not made through scientific methods, but must be a method brought over by the Doomsday Game.

Does it belong to the profession of a Pharmacist involved in life skills?

If not revealing the potion-making methods, at least could the ways to unlock life professions be made public?”

“All this is your conjecture.

Go ask your territory’s NPC chef, see if there’s a chef profession in the Player Manual.”

“What’s with all the calls for public disclosure?

Freeloader monsters, back off, and take away Mu Ying from my home.”

...

“I say, are there paid trolls on the forum too?

Criticize her a bit, and so many people swarm in to curse.

Do they have nothing better to do all day?”

“It’s right to curse you, with a twisted world view, and you don’t want others to speak up?”

...
