My Players Are So Fierce

Chapter 2976 -991: What to Do When Your Girlfriend Breaks Down? Simple! Just Use Mao-Style Repair! (Part 2)

He shouted:

“Penny, wake up!”

That heartfelt call was answered by a blazing heavy punch swinging toward him.

As the silver-gray mechanical arms punched out, the six flame nozzles along their outer armor ignited plasma flames that shaped a cannon-like adherent killing force. If that strike landed, even a newborn vampire with ten lives would have to cash them all in here.

Just as Bertie’s pupils dilated and today’s second life-flashing-before-his-eyes sequence was already rolling in front of him, something darted over, precisely intercepting the incoming heavy punch—only to be blasted apart in the next second into hundreds of mechanical fragments spraying everywhere.

Bertie jolted, turned into a bat and vanished from where he stood, and the unimpeded Mech Maiden didn’t give chase; her primary target was still retreating toward the surface.

The vector thrusters on her legs and waist erupted, shrouding that silver-gray mechanical body in flames as she chased along Murphy’s retreat route. She broke past Mach 2 right off the starting line, the sonic waves trailing behind her sweeping through the underground cavern like a fuel-air bomb had just gone off.

Dust billowed, ground split, and the aftershocks only barely settled several minutes later.

When the young vampire, face caked in grime, crawled out of his hiding spot, he saw Master Minks leaning on his mechanized cane, staring wistfully at the wreckage of the Mechanical Squirrel Warrior that Penny had just completely destroyed.

“This was a birthday present Old Flywheel and Little Bach gave me back in the day…”

Minks sighed and said:

“The ‘Squirrel Warrior’ has been with me a full two hundred and forty years.”

“I’ll pay you back, I swear.”

Bertie muttered awkwardly. Minks shot him a glance, shook his head, and said:

“You can’t afford it! Child, the effort and time I poured into refitting its body and structure alone is an astronomical figure you can’t even quantify. But for it to be destroyed while protecting you isn’t entirely meaningless.

We don’t have time to dwell on this now. Listen: we’re going topside to intervene in that fight, and Mr. Morphy’s ally has a way to help Miss Penny reset her mind. But once her Mechanical Mind is broken, she’ll very likely fall into memory chaos, and that’s when you take the stage.

I don’t think it’ll be hard for you to talk her down, to get her to quietly accept reality. But if you can’t stop her from leaving, then tonight Charldo Harbor will drown in blood.

That thing’s defensive power is so high that even the legendary Devil’s Blade couldn’t pierce it. That proves we lack weapons that can deal with her right now. If she goes on a full-blown killing spree, there’ll be no turning back.

You people are members of Dusk, scum everyone wants to execute. But Mr. Morphy used his own blood to convert you, which proves he believes you still have a shot at redemption… Cherish this chance.”

“He did it for the intel in my head…”

Bertie muttered a small rebuttal, but under Master Minks’ gaze he ultimately didn’t refuse. Instead, somewhat clumsily, he flapped the wings that were still growing from his back, and once he’d gotten used to them, he took Master Minks and headed toward the surface along the charred vertical shaft.

But before they could depart, Commander Adel’s Clan Guard came flying in from behind and encircled the two of them.

“Who are you?”

E Sister gripped the dangerous Shadow Fang Warblade, eyeing Bertie warily. She had never seen this Blood Vulture vampire before.

Minks laid out the situation briefly, and when Adel heard that the Scholar had unleashed an ancient robot capable of slaughtering an entire city, she frowned.

She grabbed Master Minks by the collar and shot up into the shaft with him, while Bonnie, in the posture of an escort, forced Bertie to go with her. By the time they came up through the shaft into the outer districts, the fierce battle there had already raged for several minutes—though Penny’s opponent had changed from Murphy to someone else.

“Boom.”

The burning heavy punch, like a shell fired from a cannon, slammed into Old Edward’s chest. Bones cracked, and Duke Wolfsbane was hammered away by the massive force, smashing hard into the city wall behind him. His towering body looked like a human-shaped dent pressed into the stone, but in the very next second he tore himself free and rolled his shoulders.

“A bit painful, a bit fiery—like having a bucket of sulfuric acid dumped on your face…”

Old Edward groused, and the perfect armor he’d crafted for himself was already charred with plasma flame scars after just this short clash. He simply ripped it off in handfuls and tossed it aside. The bones Duke Wolfsbane had shattered finished regenerating in that instant.

He looked at the flame-shrouded mechanical destroyer before him with keen interest, then loosened up on the spot like a boxer before a match.

The Lord had sent him to support Murphy, which he’d originally been reluctant to do.

But after personally tasting the raw power of this unique opponent, Old Edward’s battle-lust—never once quelled in the past millennium—was instead fully stoked.

His fanged canines bared at the corners of his mouth, his eyes went blood-red—clearly entering Bloodthirsty state—as wolf claws popped out from his fingertips. He crouched low, assuming a pouncing posture.

“Target threat rising! Punishment level adjusted to 66%!”

Faced with Old Edward’s surging will to fight, the Destroyer Guardian sensed the threat as well. The flame nozzles on her body began spewing a more dangerous ghostly blue plasma flame, like a fresh layer of flame armor draping over her already imposing frame.

But before her combat stance could finish adjusting, Edward flickered forward, trailing afterimages, and appeared right in front of her.
