My Players Are So Fierce

Chapter 2958 -985: Ah, Before My Eyes… Only an Ocean of Merfolk…_2

Stick Brother and his comrades held steady, emptying two magazines and then, under the command of the Tiger Leopard Rider players, switched to larger caliber trench guns with more terrifying scatter damage. They then launched a close-quarters battle with thirty winged cavalry led by Happy Stick.

The winged cavalry formed a battle formation, controlling their speed in the storm as they charged forward incessantly. The elite troops behind them, grouped in fives, launched a determined counter-charge using heavy shields, trench guns, and explosives, easily crushing the fishmen before them. But before these players could catch their breath, a dense wave of fishmen attacked again.

This time they brought along some peculiar sea beasts.

Huge crabs, fierce poisonous sea snakes, and octopuses that climbed onto the partially flooded dock areas, along with heavily armored dragon turtles loaded with fishman spearmen and abyss walkers—these could be considered the Wave Fishmen faction’s “colossal beast units”, right?

The storm worsened, and the rising seawater soon reached a level preventing the winged cavalry from charging. Although Stick Brother and his comrades could continue fighting, the altered terrain forced them to retreat unwillingly.

Fishmen fought more fiercely in the water, but players dragged underwater would surely drown.

This strategy was practically unbeatable.

Old Qin, who had been paying attention to the battle zone, realized the enemy’s intent. Although the fishmen couldn’t whip up a storm to engulf the entire Charldo Harbor, they could raise the tide to disrupt conditions in the city, creating an opportunity for their wolf people companions outside the city to defeat the enemy.

Should the players’ defense at the port district fail, the surging fishmen could feast within the city.

Old Qin decisively activated the Calculating Pearl to contact battlefield units, only to discover, unsurprisingly, that Spiritual Energy communications were interfered with by the abyss walkers of The Hidden Worship of Daguan. He smacked his lips, grabbed the nearby field phone, shook it vigorously, and spoke into the receiver:

“Can you take to the sky?”

“No way, Lord Qin, the storm’s intensity will blow the airships away. This is the greatest weakness of airships; their ability to withstand environmental conditions is too poor.”

The temporary commander of the three armed airships of Transylvania, “Doujiang White Pour,” responded helplessly.

“Unless the brothers eliminate the ritual node of the storm hidden underwater by the opponent, the Airship Brigade cannot provide fire support.”

“We don’t even know where the enemy’s spellcasters are. Are we supposed to use missiles to blow them up? We don’t have such things, and the underwater environment is currently a major shortfall for our player system. Inform the rear about the situation.”

Old Qin sighed, saying:

“Aren’t there Atlantean Shark People near Charldo Harbor? Ask them to interfere with the enemy’s storm ritual, or invite Lady Triss to perform magical countermeasures. The fishmen are altering the battlefield terrain! A third of the dock area is now submerged. If we continue retreating into the port district, our deployed positions will be completely lost.”

“I’ll report the situation immediately.”

Doujiang White Pour said before terminating the communication, followed by more orders being delivered to players guarding various locations. Old Qin instructed them to retreat when their positions were about to be submerged, and prepared players to engage in street battles against the Fishman Army within the port district.

“Five-to-Wheel! Take people to seize all nearby turrets; the Half-body Men’s rate of firing shells is too slow to provide support. I never thought I’d one day miss Colonel Fraser’s artillery support, but the Goldenrod People’s artillery is quite good.”

Old Qin picked up his Chainsaw Sword and yelled at his deputy.

Five-to-Wheel, already prepared, immediately led a group of professionals to charge out. Minutes later, the firing rate of the temporarily set up turrets around visibly increased, but it was still far from the fire support Old Qin desired.

“All Blood Vulture Vampire players, gather at the rear!”

Old Qin’s order quickly reached the frontline. Cheche, standing atop a submerged building, continuously throwing “Spiritual Energy Edition·Great Fire Annihilation” downward, understood what Lord Qin intended upon hearing the order.

He turned back and complained to the student group behind him:

“I thought with the airships, us ‘bombers’ could retire, but unexpectedly, at the critical moment, it’s still us who have to step in. Ah, the last time we carried bombs to conduct a bombing run was ages ago, thinking back, I kind of miss it.”

“Then let’s go!”

Ayu shook the battle knife in his hand, covered in the green blood of fishmen, flapped his wings, struggling to take flight in the storm, and glanced over the dock area in the darkness.

Rapidly rising tides had submerged the area to a point where it reached an ordinary person’s legs, compounded by fishmen manipulating the water to continuously assault the surroundings.

It was like a battlefield under a flood; all positions there were forced to be abandoned. Amid the intensifying rain, players moved back and forth across the rear positions. Whenever lightning lit up the ground, everyone present was drenched like drowned rats.

Embarrassed…

Honestly, before they truly fought the fishmen, no one ever thought that the illustrious army that defeated the Black Disaster could end up so bedraggled in the wind and rain.

The fact proved that no matter how formidable individuals on the battlefield could be, they couldn’t cope against those defying the odds. A single move of terrain transformation shifted the offensive and defensive positions of both parties.

“Damn! We’ve conquered the sky and land; our next goal should be to advance towards the ocean. Then we’ll see how we slaughter these damned fishmen.”
