My Players Are So Fierce

Chapter 2964 -987: The Endpoint Where Two Lines Intertwine

Seeing his expression, the Scholar chuckled and handed him a pen and paper, saying:

“If you can’t say it, then write it down. Write down your expectations for the future and your feelings. I promise Miss Penny will see it.”

“Alright.”

Shadow Elves Botis nodded, took the pen and paper, and began writing earnestly in a slightly swaying machine carrying him into the unsettling night. This scene brought a faint smile to the Scholar’s face, and then he shook his head.

As if sighing for a love destined to have no result.

Meanwhile, in the museum of the university town at Charldo Harbor, Sarifov Shadowblade, now clad in the dark outfit of an assassin, walked like a ghost through the silent corridors.

This museum houses various unique and commemorative artifacts of the Half-body Man civilization, but in recent times it has been temporarily used as a refuge, with the lower five floors occupied by refugees. The original exhibits have been moved upstairs.

Shadowblade needs to find the item left here by the Scholar to save his disciple.

His heart was calm, almost deathly still, a state essential for an assassin during a mission.

With light footsteps on the marble floor, the lightning outside the window occasionally illuminated his elongated shadow, and the noisy external environment aided the actions of assassins and thieves, although someone of Sarifov’s level didn’t need such assistance anymore.

He quickly found the location of the item.

In a side room, piled with several exhibition items. The turmoil of the times meant these artifacts were not well protected; there wasn’t even a security system, just an old lock on the side room door as a safeguard.

This certainly couldn’t stop an outstanding Golden One.

Without a sound, he entered, opened the display case with an outstretched hand, and took out the mechanically styled helmet, adorned with many small light bulbs.

This thing was called the “Smart Hat” by the Scholar…

It’s hard to understand what kind of strange thoughts the Scholar had in his youth.

Sarifov put it away, ready to leave, but just as he turned to open the window to jump down from a height, he suddenly looked back.

Crying could be heard outside the side room.

The crying was quite forlorn, mixed with calls for “mom,” looking like a child lost on this stormy night.

Shadowblade hesitated for a moment; he shouldn’t meddle. The museum is a very safe place. Even if the child spent a night here, nothing would happen.

He thus persuaded himself, then closed the window and expressionlessly turned towards the door. As if performing magic, by the time he stepped out of the side room, Sarifov had already disguised himself as an ordinary museum staff member using the secret technique of the Shadow Elves, even his outfit was impeccably disguised.

Disguise is a skill an assassin must master.

“Young one, why are you here?”

He easily found the human boy curled up and crying in the dark corner.

The posture was remarkably similar to when he picked up Penny and Botis in the village of Eternal Abyss thirty or so years ago, and perhaps even earlier, when Big Brother Truman found him outside the city, he must have been just as helpless and timid.

Shadowblade approached, squatted down, and said in the gentlest voice he could muster:

“Where is your mother?”

“Mother disappeared… Woo… I want to find her here…”

The crying boy looked up at this expressionless but gentle-voiced uncle, blinking, he said:

“Uncle, why haven’t you gotten off work yet?”

“I was about to, but then I heard your cries, poor little one.”

Sarifov dramatically sighed and reached out his hand to the child, saying:

“Come with me, I’ll take you back downstairs, this isn’t the place for you. The Half-body Men have piled many dangerous artifacts here. It’s not very likely anything will go wrong, but it’s better to be cautious.”

“Oh, okay, I couldn’t find my way back.”

The boy held Sarifov’s hand and followed him towards the downstairs stairs. Amidst the noisy sound of wind and rain outside the window, the child said in a timid voice:

“It’s so dark outside! Just like walking at night when not a single light can be seen, I don’t know where to go, it seems wrong to go anywhere, without my mother guiding me, I’m sure I’ll get lost in such darkness.

I could only retreat to where I was before.

I’ve always wanted to be brave like my former friends, but I can’t do it. I try hard to imitate them, but I can never become them.

I can only cry.

Am I very weak? Uncle? Why aren’t you speaking?”

“Because I sense hidden meanings in your words…”

Sarifov’s tone grew cold.

He shook off the boy’s cold hand, stepped back, and with a twitch of his fingers, a pitch-black Shadow Sprite Blade leapt into his palm. He looked at the child, who stared at him in bewilderment, and said:

“Are you precisely mocking my current situation? Who are you exactly?”

“I am you.”

The boy said softly with a fearful voice:

“Didn’t you see? I got lost. After losing my mother’s and friends’ guidance, I didn’t know where to go, trapped in this cold world like a kite with a broken string, can’t even pretend to be strong, can only cry to cover my weakness…
