My Players Are So Fierce

Chapter 2963 -987: The Crossroads of Two Paths – Qingming Bonus Update [1/1]

“That Black Winter Wolf wandering the Endless Winter Plains is truly a Northwind Godspawn? But why would it appear here? Did the Transia People bring it here? Or did the Chosen One of the Creator God foresee the convergence of forces at Charldo Harbor in advance, deliberately bringing along such a powerful ally?”

Not far from the Port District, in a skyscraper within the Commercial District, the “Scholar,” leaning on a cane, is peering through a complex telescope at the battle on the sea. Upon seeing the Winter Wolf summon a cold disaster that sweeps across the Port District, he knows the Hidden Worship of Daguan’s raid on the Port District is going to fail.

It’s not surprising to lose, after all, who would have expected a Legendary Creature to appear on the Ligurian Peninsula.

However, the Scholar’s face does not show any distress; on the contrary, his eyes are full of intrigued exploration. If the time were right, he would very much like to meet Lord Eris, to take some biological samples from it, which would certainly aid his upcoming research.

Unfortunately, time is indifferent to anyone.

He must now leave this warm place to complete what he must do.

“Tick-tock, tick-tock”

The Scholar places his gentleman’s top hat on his classic Mediterranean hairstyle, turns off the alarm constantly emitting reminder tones on the table, and pockets it. He takes one last nostalgic glance at the room where he currently resides.

On the desk is an old photograph, which he has just placed there.

Many years ago, he took this photo with him as he embarked on his travels, and now, placing it back here symbolizes his return to his hometown, having finally brought back what he sought.

“Those children have been intentionally preserving the room’s original state, as if wanting to return to the good old days and evade the cold reality. I still haven’t taught them well; fearing the future is not the attitude a qualified mechanic should have.”

The Scholar sighs, leans on his cane, and pushes the door open.

Outside stands a male Shadow Elf, disguised as a waiter, who is looking at the Scholar with an expectant yet apprehensive gaze. Beside him is a coffin-like device that can be carried, and within its occasionally reflective surface sleeps a girl.

Her cheeks are severely burned, resembling a fearsome ghost, and she must remain in this portable biological chamber to maintain her last breath.

“Penny’s condition is already very bad, Mr. Scholar, when can we go rescue her?”

The male elf asks in a pleading voice, to which the Scholar shrugs and says warmly:

“Don’t be so desperate, child, we are going now! Everything is arranged, just waiting for your mentor to bring back the ‘smart hat’ I crafted in my youth… don’t mind the name, it can help the poor Penny.

Bring your friend and follow me, the journey ahead might be a bit bumpy.”

“Alright, alright.”

The slightly timid male elf immediately carries his friend, trailing closely behind the Scholar as they leave the inconspicuous skyscraper in the Commercial District. When they get outside, a passenger-enabled walking machine is already waiting.

But surprisingly, the walking machine has no operator; it’s arrived here in an “unmanned” state.

“Revival, take us there.”

Once on board, the Scholar softly says.

An invisible data consciousness begins to operate, activating the walking machine to move toward the outer city in the stormy night. To accommodate the sick Penny, the Scholar ensures the walking machine’s steps are more stable.

“You are Bertie? Do you like this girl?”

In the silence, the Scholar, looking at a map, suddenly raises his head and asks, causing the male elf opposite him to stutter, gesturing and saying:

“No… no! Penny is a formidable Samurai and assassin, an elite inheriting Lord Salifo’s mantle; I’m just an unskilled mechanic and archaeologist, I’m still a man… our status in the Shadow Elves Society is worlds apart.”

“But that’s in the usual Shadow Elves Society. As I know, Salifo’s faction doesn’t adhere to this bizarre gender division, which is what I most admire about Shadowblade Your Excellency, having grown up in the twisted female-dominant and male-inferior society of the Shadow Elves, he detests such baseless inequality and is determined to make changes.”

The Scholar, like an old man, smiles at the male elf in front of him and says gently:

“As his follower, I think you should understand Salifo’s philosophy more deeply.

You’re not a humble man, child; right now, you are a warrior willing to risk coming to the world’s most dangerous city for the sake of your beloved. I dare say even the bravest women of the Shadow Elf Family wouldn’t come to Charldo Harbor at this moment.

You’ve already surpassed them.

Moreover, if you truly have feelings for Miss Penny, you might as well take this last chance to say goodbye to her.

After my personally conducted life conversion is complete, she will be revived in a completely new state.

In such circumstances, I also cannot guarantee Miss Penny will retain her sentiments… do you understand my meaning? She will come back to life, but for you, this might be your last chance to see the familiar her.”

“I… I can’t…”

The male elf immediately becomes somewhat conflicted.
