My Players Are So Fierce

Chapter 2961 -986: A Song of Ice and Fire (Part 2)

“The Mermaid Wanderer Priests of the Giant Rock Temple have prepared to guide you through the waters near Charldo Harbor. Join their area after returning to the material world for faster access to the battlefield.”

“Thank you, Wanderer!”

At this moment, His Highness Prince Hu Fu, fully armed, beside the recently recovered Sun Priest Botidinos responds solemnly:

“Thank you for your assistance in this battle of defense. Your fame will spread across the vast desert sands.”

“Thanks, but I didn’t do it for you.”

Cui Tan chuckled, leading the way forward, and said proudly:

“Old Turtle, I have no ties with Parom and Hades, nor have I had any dealings with you Sanghai people before. But if the Creator’s Chosen needs my help, then all Half-gods of the Star Realm, myself included, are happy to assist.

Now have your ships ready, Sanghai people, Old Turtle, I’m going to speed up…”

—————–

“Ugly thing! Get lost!”

On the night street in the Port District, Brother Meow roared, swinging his giant axe.

The energy of the War Red surrounds the axe as he fiercely slashes down, cutting the neck of the huge sea serpent before him. The wicked creature attempted a last-minute self-destruction, but before its venom-filled mouth could open wide, it was hit in the eye by Three Five Battles with a heavy shield, crashing down from the second floor.

The Divine Power of Avalon exploded with emerald flames in the storm, causing the sinister abyss sea serpent to swallow its last breath in pain.

Having dealt with the giant beast, Brother Meow gasped and turned back; the street defended by the Bird Team behind him was already a river of blood, filled with disgusting green liquid and the haphazard bodies of merfolk, while further away, the damaged walkers were halted.

Before being destroyed, the ammunition fired by this thing had cratered the street.

The initial alley battle experience was quite good, and the players adapted quickly. They fought the merfolk charging through every street and alley in the Port District. Although the storm environment enhanced the merfolk’s combat capabilities, the firepower support taken over by Old Qin at the rear still made it difficult for them to rapidly advance in the Port District.

However, the merfolk’s numerical advantage was on a completely different level compared to the wolf people and gnolls, and their lack of morale caused the players considerable hardship.

Even though a single swing could easily kill several merfolk, their slaughtering speed couldn’t keep up with the spawning rate of the merfolk, despite all players being equipped with Blood Vulture Claws. Their firepower advantage was diluted by the enemy’s numbers, and the sea barbarians took the concept of “human wave tactics” to the extreme.

Most importantly, the opponent seemed to have unlocked the “psychic advantage” war tech tree, making the merfolk’s spellcasting power far superior to the wolf people.

“Detected Level Four Psychic Waves!”

On the damaged building, Yan Song, operating a large automatic hunting crossbow and holding the position, shouted:

“A large-scale psychic spell is about to arrive, everyone take cover!”

“It’s here!”

Three Five Battles planted the Unbreakable Heavy Shield into the ground, activating the Divine Arts of Avalon’s terrestrial Divine Kingdom.

The emerald light formed a wall-like barrier, protecting the members of the Bird Team and a group of newbies. Almost simultaneously with the activation of the Divine Arts, ice-cold water spread to ankle depth around them, seemingly given life.

Under the control of the merfolk Abyss Walker, the water quickly absorbed heat, transforming into a solid state and freezing within seconds. The entire street was submerged in fragmented ice, with shattered bodies and ruined buildings coated in frost, and the damaged walkers turned into icy sculptures.

Even with the Divine Arts protection allowing the players to evade the freeze, the temperature change still made the newbies, who had persisted for a long time in the rain, shiver.

Brother Meow cursed as his summoned army of carnivorous plants lost their vitality due to the “arrival of winter”. Fortunately, that War Thorn Beast was fierce enough, and as the merfolk howled on the ice and lunged forward, it provided a resolute response, repelling their counterattack with a single reunion.

But before the members of the Bird Team could catch their breath, a dazzling lightning bolt descended from the sky, like a trident thrown by a sea god, hitting Brother Meow’s Thorn Beast, reducing its health to zero in the lightning fire, collapsing onto the ground.

“If we keep going like this, we won’t be able to hold.”

Little Hand shook his somewhat sore wrist and complained:

“I can’t even remember how many merfolk I’ve killed in this time, but the psychic cleansing attack really seems unsolvable. By the way, the surrounding storm seems to have weakened under Lady Triss’s psychic counterattack, can the airship still not ascend?”

“This level is clearly not enough; that’s a big balloon, if it ascends like this it’ll be blown away.”

Ring Attack shook his head and said:

“If we don’t eliminate the core of the merfolk’s storm ritual, firepower support won’t be able to participate. With the tide rising, in at most half an hour, we’ll have to evacuate this area; if we retreat any further, we’ll have to cede the entire Port District! Dammit.”

“What can we do?”

Brother Black Silk complained:

“I can swim, but you ask me to cut merfolk in the water, that’s definitely not going to happen… let’s take a break, those fools froze this place, barely blocking the tide’s advance.”

“We can also freeze those water flows, imitate the merfolk and alter the terrain, turning this into a temporary dyke.”

Brother Meow stroked his chin and said:

“Can the members of the Winter Wolf Religion do it?”
