My Players Are So Fierce

Chapter 2956 -984: The Merfolk Killers of Transylvania Are Ready! (Part 3)

But first, you need to convince the Barbarians to yield the port.

Although the Barbarians aren’t skilled at long voyages, their Dragonbone Warships are incredibly intimidating in coastal waters.

Therefore, if you ask me, I think the coastline of the Saxon Region might be more suitable for you to choose as a naval base.

The climate there is more temperate, the sea lacks dangerous ice floes, and resources are more abundant. It’s also connected by land to the ancestral forest of Transylvania. The only issue is that it’s currently under the control of the Golden Flower.

You see, Murphy, regarding Transylvania’s rise on the sea, it’s impossible to avoid King Louis.

“Eventually, we’re going to have to teach that irritating fellow a harsh lesson.”

Murphy quipped, saying:

“Alright, I understand your opinion. Quickly pack up your things, get your subordinates organized, and come over to Charldo Harbor. We’re gearing up for battle. Speaking of which, I’ve always been curious about the strange legacy you acquired in the Blood Fear Clan’s ancestral land.

This time, can you let me see it? My future Admiral.”

“Hey, hey, hey, I haven’t even agreed to join Transylvania yet, so don’t use that title on me, it scares me a bit. Also, we haven’t settled the matter of the reward yet, don’t rush, Murphy.”

“Someone else will discuss the reward with you. I think Lord Paryen would be more than happy to have a good chat about the responsibilities and contributions of the Blood Fear Clan to the vampire civilization with a greedy pirate leader.”

“Damn it! You’re such a dog, I told you not to use Lord Paryen against me!”

—————–

In the night of Charldo Harbor, a large army was rapidly deployed on the docks of the Port District.

After receiving news that the Wave Fishman might have allied with the Wolf People and possibly attack the port, the Steam Lords, already suffering from worsening PTSD due to the deteriorating situation, reacted quite swiftly and aggressively.

The defenses on the front wall couldn’t be moved, so they gathered the entire city’s backup defenses of walking machines and artillery arrays to the Port District. As the most important commercial area of Charldo Harbor, the Port District already had quite a complete defense system, and it wasn’t the first time they had faced Merfolk attacks, so the City Guard Officers were not very tense.

“Push the city defense cannon up! Prepare plenty of grapeshot and aim at the sea.”

A Half-human City Guard Officer, wearing small-sized armor, waved to several subordinates. There’s no need to rely on the small build of half-humans to push heavy cannons; these guys use specialized walking machines to transport and set up these heavy weapons.

Walking machines carrying truckloads of ammunition continuously sent shells to the positions, while the evacuation of Port District residents was also proceeding orderly.

This scene left players who were ordered to support the battle here at a loss for words.

“Damn it! No matter how I look, it seems like these half-humans have mechanized their combat.”

Threejin Sweet Potato, pretending to be a “guard” beside Lord Qin, stared at the walking machines transporting shells and the mechanics performing final checks on the machines, and whispered:

“This technological advantage is leagues above the Wolf People, almost like taking a machine gun to fight the Mongol army. How did they end up in this terrible state?”

“Because no matter how advanced the weapons are, they still require people to operate them. The physical quality and civilization form of half-humans make them not suitable for battle scenarios; they’re scholars and should remain scholars.”

Old Qin provided a standard answer, his gaze consistently lingering on the half-human soldiers.

He could feel the fear and timidity in their hearts. Despite wielding powerful machinery, these impressive weapons couldn’t give them enough courage. If the battle truly turned dangerous, they couldn’t be relied upon.

But half-humans do have their merits.

Old Qin walked to a platform and looked down to see the residents of the Port District being led by the defense squad, quickly evacuating with their most important possessions and family members.

They were visibly scared, adults clutching their children’s hands tightly, some children crying out, but the evacuation process was orderly. The innate orderliness and social nature of half-humans allowed them to carry out large-scale activities far faster than humans could imagine.

“They’re best suited to the rear for support work; facing direct combat is indeed too demanding for them.”

Lord Qin said, shaking his head:

“Hopefully, this war will teach the half-humans a lesson. Their combination with machinery perfectly compensates for their talent disadvantage.

While seeking war often leads to downfall, forgetting about war inevitably brings danger.

Since entering this world, this truth has been demonstrated before me over and over again.

Alright, you don’t need to stick with me anymore, head to the positions below.”

He turned to Threejin Sweet Potato and said:

“You and your brothers need to assist the City Defense Squad in holding the position. Given the current firepower of the half-humans, this task shouldn’t be difficult. It’s said the Merfolk’s individual strength is also quite poor, so tonight is a good opportunity for newbies to practice.”

If we can single-handedly deal with the danger here, then it’s best not to deploy the Expeditionary Army warriors. Their mission on the outer wall is far more important than here.”

“Relax, isn’t it just a bunch of opportunistic Merfolk?”

Sweet Potato patted his chest and said:

“I’ve killed plenty of Merfolk in other games, tonight I’ll let you witness the prowess of us ‘Merfolk killers’!”

“These folks have become quite arrogant recently; winning against the Wolf People boosted their confidence.”

Old Qin watched Sweet Potato leave and shook his head, thinking:

“Sir Morphy’s personal warning implies there might be tough battle tonight; perhaps I should prepare early?”

He glanced again at the steam-powered walking machines transporting supplies back and forth, thought for a moment, then turned to the approaching Five Wheels and said:

“Please ask Count Ellen and Ruyi to come over, and request five Dragon knights to be on standby. You and the old soldier of Qing dynasty personally lead the setup of crossfire networks on the strategic high points of both sides. This might be our first time facing a real urban warfare and street combat, let the lads come up to learn.”
