Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Suddenly, Zhao Rong pointed at a pair of green eyes not far away. ”Watch out!” he said to his assistant. ”The Rainy Night Killer is right ahead!”

The assistant looked in the direction Zhao Rong was pointing. When he saw a pair of blue eyes, he jumped in fright. ”Brother Zhao Rong, why do I get the feeling those blue eyes belong to a wolf?”

Wielding the Dharma Sword, Zhao Rong charged forward. ”Wolf or Rainy Night Killer, it doesn’t matter. We have to catch it.” With that, he sprinted toward the pair of blue eyes.

He was so fast that he reached the creature in less than thirty seconds. Without a second thought, he swung the Dharma Sword down. With a single howl, the animal died beneath his blade.

Zhao Rong pulled his phone from his pocket and turned on the flashlight. He illuminated the carcass and cursed, ”Damn it! I thought it was the Rainy Night Killer stalking us in the dark. Turns out it really was a wolf.”

When the assistant saw that the animal at Zhao Rong’s feet was indeed a wolf, he stared in disbelief. ”Holy crap! A wolf on the campus of the Women’s University, right in the heart of the city? That’s just bizarre!”

Zhao Rong was just as confused. ”I really don’t get it. Where did this wolf come from? How could it have appeared on a university campus?”

The assistant gave him a thumbs-up. ”Good thing you killed it, Brother Zhao Rong. If that wolf had been left to roam the campus, it definitely would have hurt some students.”

Carrying the Dharma Sword, Zhao Rong began walking out of the grove. ”I just hope there aren’t any other fierce beasts in this university. Otherwise, this place is far more dangerous than it looks.”

The assistant looked around. ”Brother Zhao Rong, look! The rain’s stopped and the stars are out. It’s not so dark anymore. I don’t think there will be any more wild animals in this grove.”

But before the assistant could finish his sentence, a pair of red eyes suddenly appeared nearby.

When Zhao Rong saw the crimson glow, a chill ran down his spine. ”Holy crap… What kind of animal has red eyes like that?”

The assistant hid behind Zhao Rong, trembling. ”I saw on Animal Planet that a leopard’s eyes can look red at night…”

Hearing the word ”leopard,” Zhao Rong gasped and drew the Dharma Sword from his Magic Ring again. ”A leopard is an extremely dangerous animal. Not only can it climb trees, but it’s also incredibly fast.”

”Brother Zhao Rong, what should we do?” the assistant asked, terrified.

Zhao Rong held his sword ready and quietly crept toward the animal. ”We definitely can’t run. If we do, it’ll attack us from behind and tear us to shreds.” With that, he lunged at the leopard.

As he reached the beast, he thrust the sword forward. His aim was perfect, piercing the leopard’s heart. The animal let out a pained cry and died instantly under the Dharma Sword.

After killing the leopard, Zhao Rong breathed a sigh of relief. ”Damn it, why are there so many fierce beasts in this grove? It feels like we’ve walked into the animal kingdom.”

Before Zhao Rong could finish, his assistant pointed frantically around them. ”Brother Zhao Rong, look! There’s a lion on the left, a tiger on the right, a dhole in front, and a brown bear behind us!”

When Zhao Rong saw they were surrounded by predators, he didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. ”In my entire life, I’ve never killed so many animals. It feels like tonight is forcing me to go on a killing spree…”

The assistant, feeling trapped, pleaded, ”Brother Zhao Rong, you have to kill them! If we don’t, they’ll definitely eat us!”

”Then I have no choice,” Zhao Rong said with a sigh. ”Animals don’t think rationally. They’ll definitely try to eat us.”

With that, he brandished the Dharma Sword, and with lightning speed, he killed the lion, tiger, dhole, and brown bear surrounding them.

After dispatching the beasts, Zhao Rong wiped the sweat from his forehead. ”Assistant, we need to get out of this grove, now. At this rate, we’re just going to run into more of them.”

The assistant nodded vigorously. ”You’re right, Brother Zhao Rong! Let’s get out of this terrifying place!”

But before he could finish, Zhao Rong suddenly spotted an elephant in the distance. At the same time, the assistant saw a giraffe.

Zhao Rong pointed at the elephant, aghast. ”Oh my god! This grove doesn’t just have wolves, tigers, and leopards—it has elephants too!”

The assistant was jumping up and down, his eyes wide with shock. ”Brother Zhao Rong, it’s not just elephants! There’s a giraffe, too!”

Just then, the elephant charged toward Zhao Rong, looking as if it intended to trample him to death. He hadn’t wanted to kill the elephant, but he was left with no choice. Wielding the Dharma Sword, he first dodged its massive legs, then sliced the great beast in half.

After killing the elephant, the assistant pointed behind Zhao Rong. ”Brother Zhao Rong, another animal is charging you from behind! Quick, use the Dharma Sword and kill it!”

Zhao Rong shook his head, reluctant. ”A giraffe is an herbivore. It’s no danger to us. Let’s not kill it.”

With a trembling voice, the assistant stammered, ”Brother Zhao Rong… I’m not talking about the giraffe! It’s a rhino!”

Zhao Rong whirled around. Sure enough, a rhinoceros was barreling toward him, its horn lowered. He knew how powerful a rhino was; a single charge could easily kill him. He had no choice but to raise the Dharma Sword high, aiming it at the oncoming beast.

Quicker than the eye could see, just as the rhino was about to gore him, Zhao Rong thrust his sword forward. Thanks to his exceptional Swordsmanship, the blade plunged directly into the rhino’s brain. The once-ferocious beast was killed instantly.

After killing the rhino, Zhao Rong didn’t dare linger for a second. ”Damn it, Assistant, let’s go! I can’t stand another minute in this place. If we stay any longer, I’m afraid a dinosaur will be the next thing to charge me.”

With that, he and the assistant bolted from the grove on the Women’s University campus. After bursting out of the trees, they ran toward the academic building.

As they ran, Zhao Rong said to his assistant, ”Assistant, do you think we’re dreaming? How could we run into so many bizarre things in one night?”

The assistant also felt like the night’s events were something out of a movie. ”Brother Zhao Rong, I think we must be in some kind of dream,” he said in disbelief. ”Otherwise, none of this could possibly be real.”

Zhao Rong just shook his head. They rushed into their dormitory building, returned to their room, took showers, and collapsed onto their beds. He was utterly exhausted. Although he couldn’t understand why the grove at the Women’s University was filled with so many magical beasts and animals, he still closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep. The assistant, though still terrified, forced himself to sleep as well.

That night, Zhao Rong and his assistant coincidentally had the same dream: they walked into a zoo and slaughtered every single animal inside.

「The next day」

While Zhao Rong and the assistant were still sound asleep, the school’s sports field erupted into chaos. Students were gathered everywhere, buzzing with discussion.

A female student was crying as she spoke. ”Our university went to so much trouble to fence off the grove behind the sports field and build a zoo… How could all the animals have been killed in one night?”

A male student was grinding his teeth in anger. ”We spent a fortune building that zoo! We bought animals from Africa, even from South America! After all that money, some goddamn idiot comes along and kills them all overnight!”

A teacher spoke, utterly indignant. ”We built that zoo in the grove so that students could take a break from their studies, visit the animals, and get closer to nature. It was supposed to improve their learning efficiency and enrich their lives. I can’t believe a student would be so malicious as to slaughter every single animal in our brand-new zoo!”

Just then, the animal caretaker arrived. When she saw that all the animals had been killed, she collapsed to the ground, sobbing. ”I was unemployed for so many years! I finally found a job here at the university taking care of the animals… but now they’re all dead! Does this mean I’m going to be unemployed again?”

In response to the student protests, the university’s broadcast station made an announcement: ”Which student broke into the newly constructed zoo, located in the grove behind the sports field, last night and killed all the animals? The school is offering a reward of 100,000 yuan for any information leading to the identification of this student.”

Just as the broadcast ended, Zhao Rong and the assistant woke up. Recalling how Zhao Rong had killed the animals the night before, the assistant said, ”Brother Zhao Rong, you have no idea how incredible your Sword Technique was last night when you killed those fierce beasts! We should go out and show everyone your skill! We’ll tell them you’re the one who killed those man-eating beasts. You did it to keep everyone safe!”

Zhao Rong was also feeling quite proud of himself. ”I killed so many savage beasts in one night. Who knows how many lives I saved?”

But just as Zhao Rong and his assistant were basking in their pride, there was a sharp knock on their dormitory door. It was the Student Council and the Animal Protection Committee.
