Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

The voice prompt said, ”This person died from radiation emitted by some unknown element. With current human technology, it is still impossible to detect what this unknown element is. This element may have come from outer space...”

After listening to the prompt, Zhao Rong said to Xue Lianmei, ”See? The voice prompt is exactly the same as the one before.”

Xue Lianmei’s ears perked up. ”Big Brother, did you not notice? You missed a word,” she said.

Zhao Rong frowned. ”What do you mean, I missed a word?”

Xue Lianmei repeated the previous prompt, emphasizing, ”The voice prompt said, ’This element may have come from *aliens*,’ not just from outer space.”

Upon hearing this, Zhao Rong finally understood. He had indeed missed that crucial distinction. Amazed, he asked Xue Lianmei, ”So you’re saying if this element came from aliens, then the person who killed the Crematorium Director was an alien?”

Hearing the word ”alien,” the assistant found the idea preposterous. ”Alien technology is supposed to be incredibly advanced,” he said. ”Would they really need to travel all the way from their planet to Earth just to kill this unremarkable Crematorium Director with some unknown element? Isn’t that a bit of an exaggeration?”

Lili agreed. ”If an alien killed the Crematorium Director, I think it would be like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.”

Suddenly, Zhao Rong offered a bold analysis. ”What do you all think? Could it be that the Rainy Night Killer killed the Crematorium Director?”

The assistant disagreed with his theory. ”Big Brother Zhao Rong, that’s too far-fetched. The Rainy Night Killer is the Crematorium Director’s son. Would he really kill his own father?”

Wang Guihua, however, sided with Zhao Rong. ”Since the Crematorium Director was capable of killing his own son, why couldn’t his son kill his own father?”

Xue Lianmei added her own theory. ”I think what happened was probably something like this,” she began. ”After the Crematorium Director had a psychotic break, he killed his wife and son. Then, using spells he learned from the Spellbook, he turned them both into zombies. However, during the process of becoming a zombie, his son underwent some kind of genetic mutation and became an alien, which is why he wanders around the women’s university all day.

”Then one day, the Rainy Night Killer suddenly came to his senses. He decided to avenge his mother, so he came to the crematorium and killed his father, the Crematorium Director.”

Hearing Xue Lianmei’s analysis, Zhao Rong felt enlightened. ”I think your analysis makes some sense, Xue Lianmei. But as for what really happened, we’ll still need to investigate further.” He then sighed. ”Alright, let’s head back to the women’s university. Time to leave this wretched place.”

Just as Zhao Rong and his group reached the crematorium gate and were about to leave, a crowd of people suddenly ran toward them from a short distance away.

When the assistant saw the approaching group, he was so frightened he immediately dove behind Zhao Rong, not daring to peek out. ”Oh my god! We just barely managed to kill thousands of zombies! How is there suddenly another group of them?”

Seeing that the assistant was as skittish as a startled bird, Zhao Rong kindly reassured him. ”Assistant, you’re mistaken. Those are real people, not zombies.”

The assistant remained unconvinced. ”What’s wrong with you, Big Brother Zhao Rong? How can you tell they’re human and not zombies just by looking at them?”

Zhao Rong handed his thermal imager to the assistant. ”Zombies don’t have body heat, but humans do. Take this thermal imager and look at that crowd. You’ll see they have body temperature. They’re not zombies.”

The assistant immediately took the device and aimed it at the group. Sure enough, on the imager’s screen, the crowd of people glowed red. If they were red, it meant they had body heat.

Breathing a sigh of relief, the assistant cursed, ”Damn, that scared the hell out of me. If thousands more zombies had shown up, I don’t think I would’ve had the strength to deal with them.”

Meanwhile, Zhao Rong watched the group get closer, feeling puzzled. ”What are these people doing?”

Before he could finish his sentence, the people, now raising banners and pennants, walked right up to his team.

One banner read: ”To the young heroes who brought justice, vanquished evil, and made our crematorium safe again!”

After reading the banner, Zhao Rong looked at a pennant. It read: ”Thank you, young hero Zhao Rong, for eliminating the crematorium’s villain and those thousands of zombies for us.”

Seeing all this, Zhao Rong was completely bewildered. As he stood there puzzled, the group swarmed him. They rushed forward, shaking his hand and giving him a thumbs-up.

”Young man, you’re truly amazing!” one of them exclaimed. ”You led your team to wipe out thousands of zombies so effortlessly! And you let us all know that the director of this crematorium was actually a huge villain!”

Zhao Rong scratched the back of his head, utterly confused. ”But I only finished off those zombies and the director within the last half hour. How is your information so up-to-date? How did you all find out about this?”

A little girl held up her phone, open to TikTok. ”Big Brother Zhao Rong, we’re on TikTok all the time! I saw your heroic deeds on there, so I told my uncles and aunts, my brother and sister, my great-uncle, my grandpa, and my grandma!”

As she finished, a boy next to her opened Tencent Video and showed Zhao Rong short and long clips. ”Big Brother Zhao Rong, look! Netizens shared these awesome videos of you fighting the zombies and taking down the crematorium director!”

When Zhao Rong saw the videos of himself in battle, he couldn’t help but exclaim in surprise, ”Holy cow, times have really changed! In the past, news like this spread through newspapers or TV. It would take at least a few months, maybe even half a year, for people in the area to find out. But now? With new media and short videos, it only takes half an hour, or even less, for everyone to learn about these heroic deeds. The times are truly evolving, the world is progressing, and technology is innovating.”

Before Zhao Rong could finish, the crowd presented him with the pennant and banner.

”Big Brother Zhao Rong, you’ve really helped us so much!” one person said gratefully.

”We never dreamed that the crematorium director could be so evil, turning all the dead into zombies!” another added.

”My family lives right near this crematorium! If I had known there were thousands of zombies inside, I would have moved out long ago!”

”Big Brother Zhao Rong, thank you for getting rid of those thousands of zombies! From now on, I can live around here without worrying about my safety anymore!”

Just as Zhao Rong was accepting the crowd’s thanks, a police car, red lights flashing, rushed over. When it stopped, the police chief got out. He walked over to Zhao Rong, shook his hand, and said, ”Heroic young man, we’ve already heard all about your heroic deeds. We’ve come to give you your reward.”

Hearing this, Zhao Rong was puzzled. ”I just eliminated a few thousand zombies, and the Crematorium Director died on his own. I don’t feel like I’ve accomplished anything great, so why would you reward me?”

The police chief smiled and pulled out a file containing a list of wanted criminals. He pointed to a photo on the list and said to Zhao Rong, ”You may not know this, Zhao Rong, but we had a million-dollar bounty out for this man. We’ve been trying to capture him for over a year with no success. But just now, one of our auxiliary police officers saw on a short video that you’d caught this wanted criminal. So, we came here specifically to deliver the reward money to you.”

Zhao Rong was stunned to hear that the Crematorium Director was actually a wanted criminal. But an even greater shock was yet to come.

An officer stepped forward and ripped the Human Skin Mask from the director’s face. When the mask was torn away, the face of the middle-aged man vanished, revealing an old man underneath.

Next, the officer lifted the director’s clothes. When the robes were pulled away, Zhao Rong was left utterly speechless. He saw that the Crematorium Director wasn’t one person, but two.

It turned out that the ”director” had always worn loose-fitting clothes, which concealed two dwarfs. A physically strong dwarf stood on the bottom, while a frail one sat on his shoulders. In this way, the two dwarfs formed a single person, walking around in disguise all day. For all these years, no one had ever discovered that the Crematorium Director was not one man, but two dwarfs working together.

Zhao Rong gasped. ”Holy moly, this is mind-blowing,” he said, still in disbelief. ”I never would have imagined that the Crematorium Director was actually two dwarfs.”

The police chief explained, ”These two are twin brothers. The one on the bottom is Wang Tao, and the one on top is Wang Gang. They committed numerous murders when they were younger.”

The police had been pursuing them ever since, but they never expected that the two would combine into a single person, hide behind a Human Skin Mask, and work at a crematorium. They had kept up this deception for decades, completely undiscovered. Today, by sheer chance, Zhao Rong’s arrival at the crematorium had inadvertently uncovered the twin brothers’ shocking secret.
