Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Watching the man in the raincoat approach the elevator, Zhao Rong immediately thought, Damn it. Don’t tell me I’m so unlucky that I’ve actually run into the Rainy Night Killer.

His assistant was also sizing up the figure. Holy shit, he thought. This guy is of average height, wearing a raincoat, completely drenched, and wearing a mask... He looks exactly like one of those homicidal maniacs from TV who kill people on rainy nights.

Just as Zhao Rong and his assistant suspected the person was the Rainy Night Killer, the man in the raincoat glanced at them, opened the elevator door, and bolted. Seeing him run, Zhao Rong and his assistant immediately gave chase.

As they pursued, Zhao Rong said to his assistant, ”Damn it, to think we’d stumble upon him after all this searching! It’s an absolute stroke of luck. I was thinking this Rainy Night Killer was so powerful, so mysterious, and so hard to find, but I never expected we’d just bump into him in an elevator. Isn’t this a godsend?”

The assistant, also in hot pursuit, yelled, ”Tonight, we’ll capture this Rainy Night Killer and drag him to the headmistress’s office! We’ll show that woman just how capable we are!”

With that, Zhao Rong and his assistant burst out of the academic building. But just as they exited, the once starry and peaceful night was suddenly ripped apart by a fierce wind, and a downpour began. The night was dark, the rain was heavy, and the wind was strong. As Zhao Rong and his assistant ran wildly through the storm, they found their vision severely obstructed and blurred.

While running, Zhao Rong said, ”Damn it, what rotten luck. The moment we give chase, it starts pouring on a pitch-black night...”

The assistant’s pace slowed noticeably. ”Brother Zhao Rong,” he said, a hint of fear in his voice, ”you don’t think we’ve fallen for the Rainy Night Maniac’s trap, do you? This is the perfect weather for the Rainy Night Killer to commit a crime...”

Watching the Rainy Night Killer dash through the rain up ahead, Zhao Rong encouraged his assistant. ”Don’t be scared! As long as we stick together, I can take him down no matter how powerful he is!”

With that, they resumed their relentless pursuit. Since it was their first day at the Women’s University, they were completely unfamiliar with the campus layout. Chasing the Rainy Night Killer, they were like two headless flies, with no sense of direction or geographical awareness.

About ten minutes later, they arrived at a small grove behind the university’s sports field. They watched the killer pause for a second, glance back at them, and then dive into the trees. When Zhao Rong realized they’d been led to the edge of a grove, he couldn’t help but exclaim, ”Holy shit, no way. Why does every university have one of these groves?”

The assistant stared at the sinister, dark grove before them. ”Brother Zhao Rong,” he said fearfully, ”are we really going in there? I have a bad feeling... like it’s full of bad guys.”

Zhao Rong’s eyes were like a hawk’s as he scanned the woods. He then retrieved the Dharma Sword from his Magic Ring. ”Don’t be afraid, Assistant. I’ll take the lead; you just follow me. Tonight, no matter what, we’re catching the Rainy Night Killer!”

Seeing Zhao Rong’s fearlessness, the assistant cast aside his worries and followed him in.

The grove was filled with shrubs. They weren’t tall but were incredibly dense, and with no clear path, they had to hunch over to run, which was extremely uncomfortable. Zhao Rong, however, swung the Dharma Sword as he ran, clearing a path ahead of him. Since the Dharma Sword was exceedingly sharp, it instantly carved a small trail with each slash. Although the Rainy Night Killer was fast, Zhao Rong’s sword allowed him to catch up. After a five-minute chase, he tackled the man in the raincoat and pinned him to the ground.

The assistant rushed over just in time. Without a second thought, the two of them started beating the person on the ground. After giving him a good thrashing, Zhao Rong hauled the man up by his raincoat, tore off his mask, and snarled, ”Rainy Night Killer! Not so tough now, are you? How does it feel to be caught by us brothers?”

The assistant landed a fierce punch on the man’s stomach. ”You son of a bitch! You made us chase you through this damn rain for so long!”

But before either of them could say more, they looked at the unmasked man’s face and exclaimed in unison, ”Curly-haired guy? What are you doing here?”

When Zhao Rong saw that the ’Rainy Night Killer’ was actually the curly-haired man, he said in disbelief, ”Curly-haired man, don’t tell me you’re the legendary Rainy Night Killer?”

The assistant took out his phone, turned on the flash to snap a photo, and said, ”I’m posting this to my WeChat Moments right now! Sharing the joy of catching the Rainy Night Killer!”

The curly-haired man’s expression was stiff. ”You’re mistaken. I’m not the Rainy Night Killer, I’m just... the curly-haired man.”

Hearing him deny it, Zhao Rong grabbed him by the neck. ”If you’re not the killer, then why the hell were you running around the campus administration building at night in a raincoat and mask?”

The assistant punched him in the stomach again. ”I could almost understand you running around, but damn you! Why dress up like the Rainy Night Killer? You made us chase you for so long, and it was damn exhausting!”

The curly-haired man spoke with a sense of grievance. ”To be honest... I’m already a walking corpse.”

Zhao Rong didn’t understand. ”What do you mean? Are you about to die?”

The assistant landed another punch. ”You son of a bitch, just spit it out! Stop beating around the bush! I’ve been soaked all night; I’m definitely going to catch a cold tomorrow because of this!”

Pale-faced, the curly-haired man said, ”After I led you to the school cafeteria, I escaped while you were fighting Yang Yuhua. But... because you’d already torn off my wig, washed off my heavy makeup with remover, stripped off my women’s clothes, and kicked off my high heels... I was caught by the Rainy Night Killer the moment I ran out of the cafeteria.”

Hearing that he’d been captured by the Rainy Night Killer, Zhao Rong asked urgently, ”Where is she? Tell me now! I have to find and eliminate her!”

The assistant, however, asked with concern, ”If the Rainy Night Killer caught you, you should have disappeared immediately, right? Why are you still here?”

The curly-haired man sounded extremely weak. ”Normally, yes. After my disguise was removed, I should have been taken by the Rainy Night Killer and vanished without a trace. But when she found out that you two men had shown up today, she began to tremble with anger. Instead of taking me, she left a message on my body...”

As he spoke, the curly-haired man removed his raincoat, revealing the words the Rainy Night Killer had etched onto his skin. The text read: ’All who enter the Women’s University must be women. If not a woman, one can be a man. However, any man must wear a wig, put on heavy makeup, wear women’s clothing, and wear high heels, completely disguising himself as a woman. Otherwise, I will make him disappear from this university...’

After reading the message, Zhao Rong immediately thought, The Rainy Night Killer must be coming after me and the assistant. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have gone to all the trouble of tattooing this man and having him lead us into this grove just to deliver her message.

The assistant then asked the curly-haired man, ”You said you’ve become a walking corpse. What did you mean by that?”

Suddenly, the poison took effect. Blood began to seep from the curly-haired man’s eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. ”Even if the Rainy Night Killer didn’t make me disappear,” he choked out, ”she would still kill me...”

With that, he collapsed. Seeing him poisoned, Zhao Rong was about to search the alchemy manual in his mind to concoct an Elixir, but the man had already begun to melt the moment he hit the ground.

When Zhao Rong saw him dissolving on contact with the rainwater, he said in disbelief, ”Now I understand. I know why the missing male students vanished without a trace, never to be seen again, dead or alive...”

The assistant tried to shield the body from the rain. ”No way... The Rainy Night Killer can make someone melt on contact with rainwater? That’s just... incredible.”

Before they could finish speaking, the man who had been writhing in agony on the ground had completely melted into a puddle. His remains mixed with the surrounding rainwater and flowed away into the distance.

When Zhao Rong saw a living person melt into rainwater and disappear in an instant, his very soul was shaken. He sighed with regret. ”If only we had known he was poisoned by the Rainy Night Killer, we could have treated him sooner.”

The assistant, however, kept his eyes fixed on their surroundings, not daring to relax for a moment. ”Brother Zhao Rong,” he whispered, ”do you think the Rainy Night Killer is watching us right now? That she’s hiding in the dark, preparing to poison us, too? So we end up just like the curly-haired man—collapsing, melting into a puddle, and seeping into the ground to disappear without a trace...”

As his assistant spoke, Zhao Rong suddenly noticed something in a thicket not far ahead. A pair of green eyes was staring intently at them.
