Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

The Crematorium Director had barely finished speaking when dozens of zombies launched an attack on Zhao Rong and his group. When Zhao Rong saw that all the crematorium employees were actually zombies charging at them, he immediately shouted, ”Brothers and sisters, give it your all! Prepare for battle!”

At his words, Lili, Yu Lan, and Xuelian promptly stepped forward to stand beside Zhao Rong, ready for combat. The assistant also picked himself up from the ground and stood by Zhao Rong’s side.

”Brother Zhao Rong,” he said, ”this bunch of zombies beat me up pretty badly, but now I’m going to give them a taste of their own medicine and put them in their place!”

Even Wang Guihua grabbed a brick from the ground and came over. ”Brother Zhao Rong, I want to join your team!”

Zhao Rong accepted Wang Guihua into their ranks. As he struck a fighting pose, he said, ”It used to be the five of us in a fight. Now, with Wang Guihua joining, our team has grown to six…”

Before Zhao Rong could finish speaking, the horde of zombies charged. He immediately leaped forward, clashing fiercely with them. With a flurry of punches and kicks, he fought off more than a dozen zombies by himself.

The rest of them—Lili, Yu Lan, Xuelian, the assistant, and Wang Guihua—each took on two or three zombies. The battle was exceptionally intense. Zhao Rong noticed that the zombies at this crematorium were far more ferocious than any they had encountered before. It took a Herculean effort, but the group finally managed to take down all several dozen zombies.

When the Crematorium Director saw that Zhao Rong’s group had actually defeated all the zombies under his command, he was stunned. ”My god, no way! Who in the world are you people? How could you defeat my zombies?”

Wiping the sweat from his forehead, Zhao Rong replied, ”We’re just ordinary people who like to fight for justice.”

The assistant, panting heavily beside him, added, ”Director, we’ve defeated all your zombies. You’re the only one left. Surrender now, or your end will be a miserable one.”

Wang Guihua, having knocked down two or three zombies with his brick, gasped for breath as he said to the Crematorium Director, ”You despicable villain! You turned people who should have been cremated into your zombie subordinates. We’ll make sure everyone knows about your vile actions, and then you can just wait for the law to deal with you!”

Wang Guihua’s words were a revelation for Zhao Rong. He finally understood: the Crematorium Director had been using some mysterious method to turn the dead—people who were supposed to be cremated—into zombies that followed his command.

Zhao Rong pointed at the Director and said, ”Director, if you surrender now and tell us how you turned the dead into zombies, perhaps we’ll just hand you over to the public security bureau without roughing you up first. Otherwise, after we catch you, we’ll definitely give you a proper beating before taking you to the police station.”

Hearing this, the Crematorium Director burst out laughing. ”You bunch of wet-behind-the-ears brats! You think I, the Director of this crematorium, only have a few dozen zombies? You should know, I’ve been working here for decades! If I didn’t have hundreds, or even thousands of zombies, what kind of boss would I be?”

Saying this, he picked up a megaphone and shouted towards the mortuary, ”Zombies, get out here for your old master! If you don’t, I’ll turn you all to ash tomorrow!”

As soon as he finished speaking, over a thousand zombies emerged from the nearby mortuary, charging toward Zhao Rong’s group. When they saw a thousand more zombies suddenly appear, they couldn’t help but stare, wide-eyed.

Zhao Rong looked at the blood-covered, walking corpses and exclaimed in horror, ”Damn it! Don’t tell me this crematorium has never actually cremated anyone, and instead just turns everyone sent here into zombies!”

The assistant, standing next to Zhao Rong, began to tremble with fear. ”Brother Zhao Rong, you’re right! This Crematorium Director must have turned all the bodies sent here for cremation into zombies…”

Lili looked at the horde of zombies—old and young, male and female. Feeling terrified, she asked, ”There are so many of them… how can we possibly fight them all?”

Yu Lan, however, took out her phone, filmed a short video of the thousand-strong zombie army, and even added some music. ”If I post this on TikTok, Tencent Video, or Volcano Video, I’m sure I’ll get a ton of followers.”

Xuelian picked up a few more bricks from the ground, holding them tentatively. ”Brother Zhao Rong, I could feel how ferocious those first few dozen zombies were. Now there are over a thousand… How are we supposed to fight them?”

Just as Zhao Rong’s group was wondering how to deal with the thousand-plus zombies before them, the Crematorium Director suddenly burst out laughing. ”You bunch of worthless students, since you’re about to die anyway, I might as well let you in on a little secret. I’ll tell you how these zombies can be destroyed.”

Zhao Rong was taken aback. He found it incomprehensible. Looking at the Crematorium Director, he asked, ”You’re… you’re really going to tell us how to destroy these zombies?”

The Crematorium Director sneered. ”You’re all about to die anyway. I’ll answer all your questions so you can die with your minds at ease. That way, at least you won’t become ghosts with lingering questions.”

Zhao Rong glanced at the thousands of zombies slowly closing in on them and then turned back to the Director. ”Alright, then tell us. How can these zombies be destroyed?”

The Crematorium Director said proudly, ”These zombies that I’ve enchanted can only be destroyed with swords made of sandalwood. No other weapon will work.”

The Crematorium Director thought to himself, You’re all on the brink of death anyway. Even if I tell you what weapon you need, it’s not like you can get your hands on it.

Upon hearing the words ”sandalwood sword,” Zhao Rong immediately took out his phone and opened the Paradise Shopping Cart app. As he typed ”sandalwood sword” into the search bar, he asked the Crematorium Director, ”Alright, on to the second question?”

The Crematorium Director looked down on them with contempt. ”Ask away. We have a rule here at the crematorium when we kill people: we let them die knowing everything, so they don’t become ghosts with unanswered questions.”

So, Zhao Rong continued, ”What Spell did you use to turn these dead people into zombies? And why did you do it?”

The Crematorium Director glanced at the thousands of fierce zombies standing behind him, awaiting his command. He casually sat down on a nearby stone bench, brewed a pot of tea, and took a sip before speaking.

”To be honest with you, when I was a young worker here, I was once cremating a ghost-catching disciple from Maoshan. I happened to find a Spellbook on his body. The incantation to turn the dead into zombies… I learned it from that very book.”

Hearing this, Zhao Rong nodded. He finally understood how the Crematorium Director turned the dead into zombies. The man had stumbled upon a Spellbook on the body of a Maoshan ghost-catching disciple and, from it, learned the incantation.

The Crematorium Director continued, ”Now, for your last question… as for why I created so many zombies? It’s because I’ve had a dream since I was a child: to rule the world. But as an ordinary person with no special skills, I had no way of achieving my dream. So, when I learned the incantation to turn the dead into zombies from that Spellbook, I felt I was finally one step closer to my goal.”

When Zhao Rong heard that the Director’s grand plan for turning the dead into an army of obedient zombies was to rule the world, he was utterly shocked. He gave the Director a thumbs-up and said, ”Sir, listening to you has been a real eye-opener. In all my years, I, Zhao Rong, have met some impressive people, but I have never seen anyone as impressive as you.”

Hearing this, the Crematorium Director puffed out his chest with pride. ”I’ve always had a high opinion of myself, even as a child. When I told people I was going to rule the world, none of them believed me. But now, I am realizing my dream, step by step. One day, when I rule the entire world with my zombie army, I will make all of humanity see just how incredible I am!”

Listening to the Crematorium Director’s rant, Zhao Rong was convinced the man was completely insane. ”Director,” Zhao Rong said, ”after hearing your dream, I only have one diagnosis for you: you’re a certified psychopath. You need to be checked into a hospital for treatment.”

The Crematorium Director became instantly furious. ”You dare to mock my dream? I’ll kill you right now!”

With that, he directed his thousands of zombies to charge at Zhao Rong’s group.

Meanwhile, Zhao Rong had already quickly tapped his phone, purchasing six sandalwood swords from the Paradise Shopping Cart.

When the others behind him saw the horde of zombies swarming toward them, they cried out in terror, ”Brother Zhao Rong, what do we do now?”

Zhao Rong remained perfectly calm. ”The weapons will be here any second. We’ll be able to eliminate these thousands of ferocious zombies with no effort at all.”
